It is simply the perfect synergy of gunplay, RPG mechanics, and story...

Deus Ex sucks compared to System Shock 2

I feel that they are on par-one is a true mesh of RPG and FPS, while the other is a stellar survival-horror FPS with significant RPG mechanics. They are very different, in spite of their glaring similarities, and I love them both.
