For me, Command and Conquer . Great intro .

Dead Space was pretty awesome. I regard everything up until you get the first assignment as the intro.
[QUOTE="Wasdie"]I really wish the intro went into as much detail as the manual. Man that was a great read. still doesn't beat Starcraft's manual thoughHomeworld.
It's the definition of epic.

I always loved Soul Calibur 2's opening (PS2 version): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcpAc96rZp4
The music in it is perfect and Nightmare at the end of it = freakin epic.

I remember reading it, but I don't remember much of it, I remember something about the clans uniting once they found that star chart in the desert
I remember reading that Karrak was mostly a desert wasteland
Back then Namco made some pretty good games.I always loved Soul Calibur 2's opening (PS2 version): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcpAc96rZp4

Homeworld is probably the most overlooked and underrated game of all time. Everybody is all "But Starcraft is so much better!!" without ever even touching Homeworld.
Homeworld is probably the greatest game ever made and very few people even know about it.

Really? because most RTS fans I know have played homeworld. The game was awesome, but it had too many dead moments
I enjoyed homeworld 2 much more, I admit that Homeworld 2 isn't as immersive as the first one though
Yup that's in there. You really get the full scope of how dire things were on the planet, and the struggle in uniting then the construction of the Mothership itself.I remember reading it, but I don't remember much of it, I remember something about the clans uniting once they found that star chart in the desert

So true treally, Homeworld really is one of the most underrated games ever. Innovative, very polished, great production values, great audio and visuals, smart design and a great narrative. Really is a pity it doesn't get that much recognition.Homeworld is probably the most overlooked and underrated game of all time. Don't know what "dead moments" you are talking about. The game is a bit slower paced, but that is due to it's persistent nature, something games today don't even do. The whole game felt like a struggle and the entire campaign hinged on your decisions. You made ONE wrong move anytime that cost you dearly, it was game over. You do not get that kind of stress in any other RTS.

I actually felt that stress a lot more on Homeworld 2.
homeworld 1's pacing is too slow imo, the game was awesome back then, but I think it aged poorly
Dead moments I mean that the game is too slow, simple things take too long. And then there's the fact that at the end of each stage you get to biuld you army and take all the resources you need, it can take up to hours (which meant I just watched TV while I waited) but it also made the game too easy

Homeworld and it's sequels are why I consider Relic the best RTS devs around.[QUOTE="Wasdie"][QUOTE="skrat_01"]Starcraft's is pretty cool and nicely detailed. But the back story to Homeworld is just... very impressive.shakmaster13
