Call of Duty 4, say what you want about the game, but I bought it on release day and still play up to this point.nuge004
Same.
[QUOTE="treelog82"]Very tough pick between SMG and MGS4, but I say MGS4.

I havn't played MGS4 yet, I soon will... But Galaxy is a masterpiece...I guess i'll have to reserve my final judgement for later.
Trust me its really tough to choose between the two. Metroid Prime 3 is also one of my favorite games this gen, but it gets no love around here.
The only reason why MGS4 edges out SMG imo is the experimental nature of the gameplay. SMG is great, but its the same game every time. The gameplay in MGS4 is so open ended I discover something new every time I play.

That's fair... i'll give it a shot. Still though, Galaxy is a masterpiece... they both may be. I do have to say that I don't think ... by any means that Galaxy is the same game every time you play it. It's probably not near as open-ended as alot of games, but there's still plenty of ways to get through galaxies... And there's very diverse gameplay throughout the game.

Oh I cant argue with that. The gameplay in SMG is very diverse and rarely repeats the same ideas twice. I guess what I mean is the method for getting a certain star isn't really going to drastically change in a subsequent play through.
Its not like MGS4 is incredibly open ended map wise either. Sure the areas are large for an MGS game and there are often multiple routes through one area, but of course its not free roaming. What I consider open ended about MGS4 is you can choose to stealth, or blast your way through each area. Then both of those choices subdivide down into many other choices. Between the huge arsenal of weapons, items, gadgets, camo and disguises, all the different gameplay mechanics including CQC, the different routes through areas and the different gameplay scenarios its really a different experience every time you play.
I don't know if you will like it more than SMG, but if you appreciate great games then I'm sure you will enjoy MGS4.
Oh, I also love MP3... it's one of the most underrated games of this gen... People don't know what their missing out on. I would have paid full price just to go through Skytown.skingus
I completely agree! Not only is it an amazing game, but it really utilized the Wii mote better than any Wii game I have played. I recently played through Dead Space twice and while its a great game, it kept reminding me of MP3 for some reason. The whole time I was playing I just felt like going back to MP3.
I got so many damn games this gen I can't even decide. I don't think I can even decide my favorite game from last gen.V_Isle
Last gen would be IMPOSSIBLE for me to decide.
Those would be my top nominees, but there is no way in hell I could choose between those games.

I'm in the same boat, can't even pick one from the gen before last one lol.

How is it lacking? It has 4 of the highest rated games and a slot for any other game.

Because there are only 5 spots available in polls, thus the "other" option.

MGS4 deserves to be on there more than any game on that list. GTA4 is a legitimate complaint but it's not a big deal.
