Best Graphics of The Year

I think it will be a toss up between MGS 4 and Gears 2.

Crysis Warhead and Far Cry 2 just don't stack up imo.

I know, Crysis Warhead is nowhere near MGS 4 if you're playing it on an abacus, copper wires and 4 AAA batteries.

No I play it on a 3800X2 @ 2.5Ghz, 2GB RAM, and a 9800GTX at 1280x1024 with all high settings no AA and MGS 4 is just that good.

MGS4 was presented well but in terms of graphics it wasen't that good.

Their were also alot of bland textures through out the game.

so Crysis Warhead, no contest overall.

In terms of technical Crysis: Warhead

Mine would be Banjo, Viva Pinata or LBP

Edit: MGS4 does not stack up to Crysis or Warhead

I'll just mention a few on 360 that deserve a mention (games I've played), I don't own a gaming PC or a PS3.

Dead Space, the lighting is incredible as is the art design, when some of those creatures run at me I freak out. Atmosphere is through the roof in this game.

Banjoe, probably the best looking game I've seen on the console, blown away when I booted up the demo and got to the top of the mountain. Rare might just have a shot at GOTY if the gameplay holds up..

FarCry 2, best looking FPS to date on 360, the draw distance is insane, and they nailed the African setting and the way stuff blows up and catches fire.

Yea this game looks amazing, to bad most people only say games that are half way realistic with humans in them have good graphics.

MGS4 graphics arent that good

Has anyone told you guys gears isn't actually out yet?

How about we wait for that one to be released before we claim it to have the best graphics?

I'd be hapy to be wrong i just don't like judging games before they are out...

Having played and finished Gears 2, i'd say MGS4 hands down. It simply has the WOW factor and those sublime character models and animations. Gears 2 is shiny but it has a lot of issues with bad character models, pop ups, very very bad shadows and tearing.

PC games not included as i don't play on PC except now and then.

Nothing beats Crysis Warhead. But on consoles the best graphics is a toss up between Dead Space and Gears of War 2. I haven't seen Gears of War 2 in person but anyone who hasn't seen Dead Space in action, the videos and screen shots don't do the game justice. At all. It's the best looking game I've seen on consoles, but again I haven't seen Gears of War 2 in person.

i don't see how MGS4 makes the list. the presentation was great, but the entire in-game world is rendered sub-HD and upscaled - which makes visual flaws pretty damned obvious at 1080p upscale on larger displays.

it's a great game - but it is no contender for best graphics of the year, that is 100%.
