Best JRPGs so far this gen. (56k)

On Consoles
1- Lost Odyssey- very good
2- Eternal Sonota- good
3- Fire Emblem Radiant of Dawn- good(its a strategy rpg, and its japanese)

The rest have been average this gen.

And to me Persona 3 is a last gen console game, so i guess i don't count it. Cause i mean then Final Fantasy 12, Rogue Galaxy,etc count as well now don't they.

If Lost Odyssey had been release any other generation, it would've been run of the mill.

I haven't played any others besides lost odyssey and did not find it amazingly special however I did think it deserved atleast an 8 or an 8.5. LO was a little underrated. I need to check out TWEWY since I just got a DS like a month ago.

Lost Odyssey is the only JRPG i've played this gen, and it was Great! It reminded me of a lot of the older final fantasy's.

There seems to be a lack of JRPG's this gen, which is a shame :(

Sadly Lost Odyssey should be up there...I say "sadly" because the game is good but not great. Everything about it from the inconsistent visual/audio standard (ranging from amazing to just about average) and the fact that it is blatantly a PS2 game pretending to be a 360 title (scale/loadtimes/fully random encounters).

That said it all comes together. The VO also bothers me slightly. I found the subtitles seem to not match the Japanese at all as the English characters had more dialogue written in, but then the English VO isn't quite as good as it could've been either.

Theres not been many JRPGs at all this gen that have impressed me. I keep hearing on these boards that the Nintendo DS happens to be the king of JRPGs. I beg to differ, Alot of them are really average at best, I've been playing this so called amazing JRPG lately called The World Ends with You. Getting up to Day 4 on it, I can't help but feel that this game is just plain boring. Played FF3, felt really generic, no interesting story whatsoever. Children of Mana=Crap nuff said. So yeah.. other than generic FF remakes what else has the DS got JRPG wise..

As for consoles well, so far it's been pretty crap. So far the only JRPGs that have remotely interested me ever so slightly are Lost Odyssey which was good and Eternal Sonata which was OK... and thats about it... Pathetic... PS3 has basically nothing out now that interests me. Folklore is just another average game but barely hit the OK meter. Guess I just have to wait for more of the upcoming JRPG like Tales of Vesperia, Cry On, Infinite Undiscovery, an FF13. White Knight Cronicles didn't look too good from the gameplay I saw. That leaves 4 JRPGs whoopie. What a fine generation this is turning out to be. Crap loads of shooters while the rest of the genres get screwed.

I find it odd that the best JRPG of this generation - Lost Odyssey - is missing, while we have The World Ends With You (meh) listed instead.subrosian

You've got the two mixed up. The World Ends With You is the best JRPG since the last good FF game, while Lost Odyssey is a boring, generic and outdated game.

Yeah..... I couldn't bring myself to finish Lost Odyssey, so that's one of the reasons it's not included. The other it was so cookie cutter, something I probably would've tossed aside if it was released last generation :|

It was my top JRPG s this generation. Lots of people voting for a game can't change my opinion can it?

I've only played 3 JRPGs this gen, Eternal Sonata, Odin Sphere, and Lost Odyssey.

And LO stunk. I've been hearing a lot about The World Ends With You, is it worth a purchase?

crisis core was ok but it became very repitive for me. so far im liking mass effect (pc version)

Lost Odyssey is the only amazing JRPG available, all others are last gen stuff imo

I just finished Blue Dragon, its a good game, but far from great

I think Lost Odyssey is so far the best

PERSONA 3 FES. Nothing released so far in terms of both JRPGs and JSRPGs has beaten it. More than 100 hours of gameplay, really cool graphics, it lets you keep your previous save, more missions, changed scenes, more Personas. Just great. And Hard is really cool when you want to go out all by strategy alone :D.

Other great JRPGs and JSRPGs are Crisis Core, Final Fantasy Tactics, The World ends with You and Lost Odyssey (this one being the worst of the current released JRPGs along with Blue Dragon).

Im now waiting for all the upcoming JRPGs: PERSONA 4 (already watching the anime to get ready to it), both Final Fantasy XIIIs, Valkyrie of the Battlefield, White Knight Chronicles, The Last Remnant.

i still cant comprehend how the ps3 still does not have at least one high profile jrpg released yet....madnessjmig556

The waiting is killing me, especially when in Japan there are already a couple of them released (they are those of the family of Atelier Iris and Disgaea which means, no impressive graphics but cools stories and such). At least, for this time this year we will already have a bunch, JRPGs are always the last to appear on a console.
