Best Metal Gear Solid Game?

Which MGS game is the best in your opinion, and why?

I myself am going to have to say MGS3. Even though I thought MGS4 was amazing, the only reason it was amazing is because it built upon the games that came before it. As a stand alone game though, MGS3 can be fully enjoyed without any prior experience with the series, and it's incredible on top of that. It has more bosses, and more emotion than MGS4 had. Most importantly it had more game.

While I think that every MGS fan should play MGS4, if I were to recommend any one game to someone, it would be the third one.

I played MGS, MGS2, and MGS3 (I have yet to play MGS4 but I own it I just need a PS3)

But of the ones I played I say MGS2 is my favorite.

MGS 3 by a mile. The boss battles were so epic. Camo system and environments, weapons and all, close to perfect. Absolutely loved the game.

snake eater for me

I've only played PO but from looking at all of the Snake Eater looks the best. This is what I think:

MGS3>MGS2>MGS4>MGS1>MGSPO (The inventory system sucks)

snake eater is one of the greatest games ever made. the others are just incredibly good games. the first mgs nmight be worth consideration for that title but snake eater really blew up the spot. loved it.

MGS3 a perfect mix of gameplay, and cinematics imo. It also seemed like the the least convluted story out of the four main MGS games, but it was a prequel so that makes sesne.

I'm going with Snake Eater, cause its story didn't feel like a flood of uesless knowledge, rather a constant flow of awesomeness and a plot that makes sense!

The first PS1 MGS is the best one, nothing will top that gameAgentA-Mi6

Metal Gear Solid 3, easily.

I just beat MGS4 again this morning on The Boss Extreme mode and I realized how awesome the gameplay is in this game. I found it to be much more satisfiying than any of the other iteratations. I have a good handle on the story so it didn't really bother me about how convoluted it was.

All are better than 2.

Other than they they're equal in my eyes.

3 definately,that boss battle with "The End" alone makes MGS3 worthy of praise.

I'd take the original MGS on PSX before Kojima went insane.

MGS > MGS 4 > MGS 2 > MGS 3

I enjoyed Snake Eater the most.

Between MGS2 and MGS 3 because the the storieswasn't as convolted as MGS4. Also the fact the stories in MGS2,3don't contradict key story elements in the series. IMO MGS2>MGS3>MGS1>MGS4=MGSPO

MGS 3 definitely. It would have been MGS4 but the final act was too short and dissapointing.

I'd take the original MGS on PSX before Kojima went insane.

MGS2, it definitly had a great influence on 3 and 4.

yup i feel the same way, MGS4 was great but MGS3 was something truly awesome.

Am I the only one who HATED 3? man that game was just annoying, i think either 2 or 4 is the best

IMO it has the best story, the best characters and is just a great game, nevertheless i love all of them.

MGS3 the theme song is the greatest. Even in MGS4, my main goal after the first playthrough was to get snake eater theme on the IPoD and I did it at the end of last may.

the best game is MGS4 but none of them are as memorable as MGS1 it was one of the first of it's kind

MGS3, that game deserved AAA from GS.
