Persona 4. It's easily my favorite game overall this gen, not just RPG. I love everything about that game.

For a next-gen console though, I'll go with Valkyria Chronicles.

Mass Effect or Fallout 3 for me. Hard to pick one.

Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, end of story, no discussion

Mass Effect and Fallout 3. The mods for Fallout 3 alone make the game excellent.
