Ok, I hate to do it but Skyrim is now disqualified from the contest due to cheating. Anymore votes for it will be distributed evenly towards the other four games.

You didn't include Witcher 2 or Mass Effect trilogy.
*grabs keyboard from shake's hand* Gimme that poll, you're doing it wrong!! :P
Dark SoulsZeviander
You finaly got around to playing it? Bout damn time son! I still say Demon's Souls is better, even though Dark Souls is one hell of a game.

Shooters are not allowed in this competition. Even if this was about shooters, I still wouldn't include ME2, BWAHAHAHAHA!!
You know every site has the ME games listed as a RPG right?. Anyways Nier is a hack and slash (see what I did there?)
I have to say it's hard to choose from D3,Skyrim and Dragon's Dogma
It's got more shooter elements than RPG elements. Even Kevin VanOrd says it in his review on ME2. Get your facts straight.Witcher 2 easily. The Souls games are the most overrated. They have no depth. You just die over and over.

To some they have no depth, you have to not suck to get past the first level after all.
OT: Skyrim? Nier? No Witcher? No Deus Ex?

So...you're so ignorant that you don't know what a fallacy is and what ignorant means.
We're getting to a new form of inception here guys.
Apparently you don't know what fallacy means
Also I love it how you claim I don't know a meaning of a word when you can't think before you type, cause I love how you typed "that that" in a post. Which of course you're gonna say "I speed type bro stfu" , ah excuses.
RPG? Diablo 3? Wut?
Hard for me to really pick one over the others. From that list only real contender is Skyrim, it offers most freedom. But no RPG from this gen really shines over the others.

Know your sh!t before you correct someone else's grammar.
"that that" is not syntactically incorrect, and you're using the word "fallacy" incorrectly.
Nice argument you got there. Not only you failed at correcting my grammar, you failed at realizing the only purpose your post had aswell.
People trying to justify ME not being a RPG is a fallacy and ignorant.BallroompirateThe butthurt is strong with this one... People cannot be a fallacy. A fallacy is erroneous statement that assumes something incorrectly. It would be like claiming "Mass Effect is a RPG because all these people say it is". This would be an argument from popularity, or "argumentum ad populum". It uses the majority opinion as support for the argument, assuming that since many people say it, it must be correct.

People already claimed Mass Effect was a RPG before the media even did and it's not just cause the "mass amounts of people" decided on a whim, you look at what ME does on paper as an RPG compared to the people who think it's a shooter who have barely no logical claims of calling it a shooter besides it has a cover mechanic and has guns, which in turn is a fallacy debate on their part cause they are just spinning the argument in their favor which is full of "errors".
I can list a dozen reasons why Mass Effect is an RPG and not just cause it's the "popular" thing to say, compared to the people who can only give 2-3 reasons why it isn't a RPG.

So now the argument is about ignoring logic and just counting the "number of reasons".
And I thought it couldn't get worse than dreman and tgr...
Why not Tales of Graces?
And Mass Effect is not an RPG. It's a shooter. It's a Gears of War clone that tries to convince you that it's not.
GeoffZak
And Demon's Souls / Dark Souls are just Enclave clones that try to convince you that they are not. Seriously now. Shooters can be RPGs just like hack & slash action adventures.

Says the person who can't type trying to correct someone (if you doubled typed really really or a word that can simulate an emotion you could have gotten away with it).
Btw someone who uses fallacy you'd think you would take the word to meaning cause it's not helping you in your arguments, you've had no logical claim to try and make my post invalid or prove me wrong on the debate on why ME is an RPG. Anyways continue cause it amuses me to see someone have worse claims in a debate than texasgoldrush and loosingends.

Double "that" is NOT incorrect because they have different meanings. Learn to read.
All you've posted are an ad hominem attack, a (failed) grammar correction, and a rant regarding people's supposed illogicality (the irony...).
There is nothing in your posts that can be called valid, you didn't make a single fvcking claim as to why ME is an RPG, therefore there is nothing for me to correct or dispute. You're making yourself look like a cretin even more than you did when you were ranting at Wasdie for being biased, and that takes some effort.
Keep going tho, you're definitely hilarious to look at, especially considering you don't know what you are saying but you act like you're "winning" something ;)

If you want to consider Mass Effect an RPG, that's fine. Be prepared for your game to be reamed out for being an utterly terrible one. I enjoy the Mass Effect games, all of them. But when I start thinking they are "role-playing games" I start to get angry because of how poorly they do as games in that genre. I think they are better described as "choose your own adventure" games, with third-person shooter elements.

I said every major website has ME labeled as an RPG so they must all be wrong (of course that was being sarcastically) that was the start of the whole damn debate idiot, before you blindly tried to insult me and failed like the dumbass you are.
If you want reasons why myself, professional game editors, reviewers and hundreds of thousands if not millions of people who played the ME games call ME an RPG then here.
*you are in the shoes of shepard you "mold" what shepard does, act and say in the games (that alone is role playing, I suggest you look up what role playing is)
*shepard lvls up in the ME games, his party lvls up as well. Which brings me to my next point of having a party that you take on your "adventure" or "journey"
*there are class arch types that define who you are as shepard and your party/crew
*as you lvl up you are given points to spread across new abilities that you can use in combat
*outside of ME2 there's a loot system, guns and armor gave you extra dmg, armor, shields ect ect
I gave you reasons on why people list ME as a RPG, now it's your turn to try and list on why it isn't. Also coming from the same person I owned in that whole debate on PC fanboys...yeah calling me hilarious to look at, as in hilariously owning you at another debate then yeah sure then.
Witcher 2 easily. The Souls games are the most overrated. They have no depth. You just die over and over.
JohnnyCageMK
So true. They are difficult, but they don't have many other redeeming qualities that I look for in an RPG.
The Witcher 2, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Skyrim, Mass Effect... those would be my picks.
What I find curious is that Mass Effect supposedly isn't an RPG because it doesn't have enough character progression and upgrades, but Demon's Souls gets called an RPG even though it has almost no real story development.

You didn't counter his point. You just said that since he disagrees and thinks nier is good his opinion is irrelevant. Mass Effect 2 is an overated shooter. You don't role play, you choose a couple of shallow dialogues and shoot stuff. Its a good game but its hardly an RPG. Hardly.

We're speaking of ME2 and ME3, not "ME games". ME1 is a good example ofRPG. ME2 and ME3, however, aren't. They're TPS/RPGs.
A prime, defining feature of RPG games is exploration. In ME1 you could explore planets freely. The Mako part was terribly tedious, especially if you aimed for completion of gathering quests, and could've been done a hundred times if not more better, but still, it fully qualifies as exploration. In ME2/3 every mission is completely linear with some minor variations. That's not what exploration is.
The same goes for inventory. In ME1 it was very convenient to make use of the different mods and armors. ME2 and ME3 don't even have it. You get a bunch of weapons to choose from at the start of a mission and that's it. In fact after the first mission you don't even have to ever even change weapons. That's not what inventory is.
You decide what Shepard does and the party, yes, definitely RPG elements, as well as character development. They are, however, extremely limited in all three games. You, as Zeviander put it in round 1, are either "goody two-shoes" or "rebel without a cause". Being in the middle ground means being cut out from part of the game, as you don't get high enough paragon/renegade scores. You want to see what "mold your character" means, play DAO.
Class archetypes don't mean sh!t. They only differ for minor combat abilities...in a combat system that relies for the most part on shooting. This also makes levelling up irrelevant considering skills stay the same from their unlocking to their mastery.
You want a prime example of RPG, look at Black Isle games. That's what "RPG" is. ME2 and ME3? Not really.
