What do you think is the best RPG this generation?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
To be funny because of previous discussions today: There are no RPG's this gen. BUT in all fairness and in seriousness - I probably enjoyed Fallout 3 the most.
xbox 360 - lost oddessy
ps3 - dragon age "i know its multiplats but this is what i played it on"
psp - persona 3 portable
final fantasy 13 gets an honorable mention, i didn't hate it like everyone else did
the rpg genre has'nt really been where I would have liked it to be this gen.
Guess I'll go with Fallout 3. ME2 is a fun game (once at least) but certainly not much of an rpg.
I wanted to say DAO but it's mechanics kept reminding me about how they were weaker than BG. They should've just licensed ADnD again.
MAss Effect 2 easily for me because Fallout 3's moral choices were a bit too black and white (do you want to nuke a town?) Dragon Age was just boring

What version of DOA did you play? My PC has..been better. I do not own a Ps3 and am wondering if this is a good winter play on 360.PS3: Valkyria Chronicles
360: Mass Effect 2 or Vesperia
Wii: Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
DS: The World Ends With You
What about the tree dude? I was morally confused there.....MAss Effect 2 easily for me because Fallout 3's moral choices were a bit too black and white (do you want to nuke a town?) Dragon Age was just boring

KingTuttle
PC version. don't get me wrong, it's a good game but I had a few gripes that added up to mar the experience.
1: It felt like a LOTR ripoff.
2: The combat and playstyle is reminiscent of BG (ADnD) but the mechanics and skill trees reminded me of WoW (skill trees are'nt at all unlike linear talent trees). System Warriors would called it "dumbed down" but I hate that term.
3: The gear felt bland and underwhelming to me.
4: The story was pretty bland due to 1.
Don't take this like I hate the game, I was just underwhelmed.
My PC is pretty good so I can't really say how it runs on low end systems.
Too many, but I can tell you one that won't be listed. Anything made by Square enix in the past 6 years besides. Besides "The world ends with you". (DS)FightingfanDid you play the SNES FF games? Those were fun and the graphics couldn't replicate that emo stuff we see in their games now....thank God.

I still have them.

Thank you. It's really got to be hard to do anything without sitting in Tolkein's shadow though. Even Ultima suffers from this. If anyone gets this reference......tell me how awesome it would be if they made an Elric of Melnibone game. Obviously it wouldn't be available in Australia.[QUOTE="KingTuttle"][QUOTE="Fightingfan"]Too many, but I can tell you one that won't be listed. JRPG: Xenoblade
WRPG: Demons Souls

Isn't Demon's Souls a JRPG?
It's a WRPG made by a Japanese studio. If you wanna be technical about it, Valkyria Chronicles isn't a JRPG, it's a SRPG.Best: Valkyria Chronicles or Demon's Souls
Demon's Souls isn't WRPG its JRPG
WRPGS are shallow openworld games with terrible gameplay and story, games like oblivion and fallout
