Demon's Souls followed by Dragon Age followed by White Knights Chronicles. Though all three are interchangeable depending on what you like in an RPG. Lol at F3 and ME getting the most votes, ME being mediocre at both RPG and shooter and F3 having some of the worst gunplay ever!
Though I love dragon age and mass effect how is LO not on that list?? Well LO for me was the best rpg this gen with dragon age coming in at a strong second and mass effect third.
Not seeing Lost Odyssey on there is a big letdown, hell the only JRPG on there is Demon Souls and its western styled. I'd pick Demon Souls off that list for sure though.
I would say Dragon Age Origins objectively. It's varied, has great combat, is long, and I just can't get enough of it. However I have a soft spot for Mass Effect, I love the lore, the characters, and abilities, and the dialogue system. If mass Effect 2 changes all that was needed, I may have to change my answer.
Isn't it a little early to call Best of the gen when we are still in the middle of it? :?
On topic: Of that list Demon's Souls, because it feels fresh and let you jump in (no oversaturation of menus and items, something that I hate in RPGs, but that's just me.)
So far I would say Mass Effect hands down for me. It had the most compelling story of any rpg I've played this gen. Though to be fair, I have not yet played Dragon's Age. I have played all the other titles you listed.
You forgot the 2 on the end of Mass Effect. Also MASS EFFECT 2 IS GONNA BE THE GAME OF THE YEAR AAAA AND BE GAME OF THE GEEEEEEEEEN!!! MY CRYSTAL BALL IS WITHOUT FAULT!!!
Well it's not Demon's Souls, that's for sure. I'd say Dragon Age Origin's with Fallout 3 a close 2nd. We still have to see how FF XIII, MassEffect 2 and Dragon Quest IX & X turn out.
Other than that, I really haven't played too many RPGs this generation. Fall Out 3 seems really fun, as does many other RPGs I've seen. I suppose I need to play more before I make a solid choice for anything other than Pokemon.
For me it would have to be the first RPG I ever played, Oblivion! It was just to addicting. I think it ruined my marriage,lol. Than Mass Effect and Demons Souls.
Tough one, for me its between mass effect, dragon age and elder scrolls. Probably would have to go with mass effect and dragon age because of their great stories and interesting universe / characters.
except for one, they are all wrpg ... that's kinda a fail of a list ( hates wrpg). I'll go with oblivion since it's the only one i liked or bother to finish in that list
