'breaking your arguments in half'? lol

note to self: when losing an argument, claim that im tired of breaking their arguments in half and then leave.

gotta remember that....

ogvampire

Instead why don't you take of note of NextOrder's tactic? Ignore the points other people are making and repeat yourself over and over.

i see you are already using that tactic... no need to have so many copy cats. i think i will stick to my own tactics, thanks ;)

Good. Then don't take notes on mine.

Sales=/=Influance of the gaming industry.

I want to know how wii sports influances other games and their developers, because honestly I do not think the tiger woods team is taking tips from wii golf there pal.

jechtshot78

Ofcourse sales = influence. Wii Sports opened up a new market pretty much all on its own. That is the very definition of influence. What are you talking about?

You never contextualized when you said "Most influential game of the generation".

I don't need to. A single game opeing up a new market is a feat that doesn't need to be contextualized. Its influence is obvious. It goes down in the history books with Pong, Wolfenstein and Mario.

Yes, you do need to. And Wii sports is not the single game that made the Wii what it is right now and opened the market, and to even think so is ludicrous. Wii Sports is not going to be a household name remembered in the same vein as Pong and Mario, and again to think so and also use this in your argument for Wii sports 2 is asinine. And as far as backing up your claims as to why this buries the PS3 and 360, you have failed to do so completely.

It would be in Nintendo's best interest to bundle it with Wii Motion Plus at no extra charge. As they refuse to start releasing Wiimotes with it already included, and instead want to suck your wallet dry. But I guess that isn't a new practice in the gaming industry on all sides.

Wii Sports is the the game that opened the non-gaming market. It was the game first played on the Wii in every country in which it was packed in with the console.Even despite the Wii's initially weak tie in ratio, the console remained the number 1 seller and media darling due to the praise of Wii Sports which caught on like wildfire in the non gaming market. In the only country where it wasn't launched with the console, Japan, it is the number 1 selling console game of this generation.

As for the 360, and PS3, in terms of sales the Wii has already buried them largely do in part to Wii Sports being the perfect tool to showcase the Wiimote, Wii Sports Resort will only be the final nail in the coffin.

btw Based on the success of WiiSports, both in the impact it has had on the media and non gaming market, who are you to say how it will be remembered?

jeez, do you not understand that wii sports was bundled with the wii and people didnt have a choice but to get it in order to get the wii. they wanted THE WII,not necessarily wii sports. and you said it yourself. wii sports wasnt used as a game by either nintendo or the public, it was used as a tool to actually use the wii, the game itself is nothing special

The first Wii Sports was the most influental game of this generation. I fail to see your point.

Also Wii Sports Resort will feature a Jet Ski game straight from the makers of Wave Race, and the first 1:1 motion controlled sword fighting game of all time. Game is going to rawk.

and the game that broke the most tv's in gaming history ahahahaah

Best selling game, sure. But that doesn't make it the best game. Although I've tried Wii Sports and it was fun; I just got bored of it pretty quick.

Being the number one selling game of the generation is not a big accomplishment?

Funny you balk at the japanese's tastes in games when it is the territory where PS3 is selling the best (for the last few weeks anyway) and Wii is selling the lower in Japan than it is anywhere else in the world.

I don't need to. A single game opeing up a new market is a feat that doesn't need to be contextualized. Its influence is obvious. It goes down in the history books with Pong, Wolfenstein and Mario.

Wolfenstein was the first fps. Wii sports is not the first sports game. You cant comapre sales of a game thats bundled with a system to those that arent.

Wii Sports is the first mass market motion control game and to date still one of the best. It was the key to unlocking the non-gamer market. I don't even know why people bother arguing against this.

It ought to be one of the best, Wii has the least aaa games this gen. You say its for the non-gamer market, then how exactly does it bury the the 360 and PS3? They attract a completely different demographic.

The Wii caters to all gamers, not just the non-gamer market, that's why it has sold so well. Also, a study conducted suggested that most Wii owners are former PS2 owners.

[QUOTE="NAPK1NS"]And with sales comes quality, right? Nope.TheNextOrder

The first Wii Sports was the most influental game of this generation. I fail to see your point.

Also Wii Sports Resort will feature a Jet Ski game straight from the makers of Wave Race, and the first 1:1 motion controlled sword fighting game of all time. Game is going to rawk.

most influential game this gen? please do elaborate.

The Wii is Nintendo's swansong. after this people aren't going to be duped into buying another console because they already have the Wii (which is a rubbish console anyway in my opinion).

[QUOTE="Cranler"][QUOTE="TheNextOrder"]Wii Sports is the first mass market motion control game and to date still one of the best. It was the key to unlocking the non-gamer market. I don't even know why people bother arguing against this.

TheNextOrder

It ought to be one of the best, Wii has the least aaa games this gen. You say its for the non-gamer market, then how exactly does it bury the the 360 and PS3? They attract a completely different demographic.

The Wii caters to all gamers, not just the non-gamer market, that's why it has sold so well. Also, a study conducted suggested that most Wii owners are former PS2 owners.

i notice that you respond to arguments only to which you know the answers too...other posts where they prove you SO wrong you ignore....gotcha ;) and the fact you respond to most posts really says a lot about yourself.....anywho, i work in a game shop, and yes i sell a lot of wii's BUT you have any idea how many get traded in!? every single time i asked why... 'wasting money on rubbish games' anyway it WONT be the best selling game of this generation, id bet my own life on that, mainly because well....wii sports isnt very good, i dont know 1 person that still plays it, but nearly everyone still plays COD4....gears, halo, killzone, whatever. stop making posts to provoke argument and spread your wildly inaccurate claims :)

This is sad, but admittedly true. Having said that, wii sales are finally starting to come down in Japan. I wonder how long it'll take for the craze to die in Europe and the US?

Why is it sad? I'm just curious as to why when a game isn't in your standard issue genre its suddenly not only not a game, but it sucks, its not fun, it's shovelware, it's bad for gaming, etc. etc. WiiSports is FUN, and i imagine that the sequel will be FUN too. I know its on Wii so it can't be fun or good, but people who think that are in the VERY small minority, and frankly nobody cares.

Wii Sports Resort. 360 and PS3 will be buried alive.

Oh dear god. And that, folks, is the biggest problem this gen faces. /facepalm
