Heavy Rain and ME2are tied in my mind.

Heavy Rain easily, then God of War III second for me. I like Just Cause 2's score a lot too, it's fun and irreverent.
I have FFXIII but I am afraid to play it, it may have a better score than God of War III.
EDIT: How has nobody mentioned Heavy Rain? The Ethan Mars theme is extremely melancholy and memorable.

Heavy Rain takes the prize for me, with Mass Effect 2 and FF13 fighting viciously for second place.Skittles_McGeeI'm nobody

ME1's soundtrack was 10x better. I was really disappointed with the soundtrack for ME2.Mass Effect 2 launch trailer song
Almost every song on Mass Effect 2 is brilliant imo

Ewwww, really? It all sounds like something from an old Hanna-Barbera cartoon.Demon's Souls without a doubt.

DS is one of my favorite games, and I barely remember the tunes, just the soothing one in the Nexus and then the JARRING one in the Nexus after you are 3/5 complete... oh and the intro movie one... but Hanna-Barbera cartoon? What kind of HB cartoon, that soundtrack was pretty dark. If I heard the intro music during a Yogi Bear cartoon when I was 8 I would probably **** my pants. :PDemon's Souls without a doubt.

Hannah-Barbera cartoons had some fantastic music. Well... before their crappy Flintstones/Top Cat era when they left MGM.

Haha ok, I'm not trying to be argumentative for the hell of it, it was just a really odd comparison to me and made me wonder if I had missed out on a whole subsection of Hanna-Barbera growing up. :P I need to Youtube some HB music and see if I get what you're saying. Hmm was the old Spider-Man cartoon Hanna-Barbera? Because the song from that cartoon when Rhino is coming to tune Spidey is one of my favorite songs ever. :P

I agree. That fit the game perfectly.
Most of the music in FF13 is alright, but there are several times where the music is kinda out of place. I'll never forget the one scene between Sazh and Vanille with this upbeat jazz piano piece that made absolutely no sense.

Seriously, I hum this song all the time and if I ever went on a huge evil rampage I would listen to this song non-stop. MF Doom samples it in a song actually, it's pretty badass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWXjYiYp14g&feature=related

That video reminded me of DS boss battle music actually. The Nexus theme is both haunting and beautiful though.
BTW, MF Doom is nice 8).
Would I get in trouble if I said Reach? :omusicalmacI guess if you already heard the soundtrack, why would you? It's going to be one of the best this year anyway!
[QUOTE="musicalmac"]Would I get in trouble if I said Reach? :oEpisode_EveI guess if you already heard the soundtrack, why would you? It's going to be one of the best this year anyway! I'm just joking. The music from the trailers has been pretty good so far. I liked some of the ME2 music, I haven't heard FFXIII yet, though. And if memory serves me correctly, Bayonetta has an OST pretty close to that of BlazBlue. So it's technically solid, but probably not my favorite.
[QUOTE="with_teeth26"]
I much preferred the soundtrack of ME 1 to ME 2, although it wasn't bad in the latter game. Other than that, no music has really stood out so far, so i guess Bad Company 2, it works well with the game although its not exactly memorable.
positivebalance
yea, but none of the new songs were good imo, and most of the old songs werent used during gameplay. The old songs still kick ass though.

I probably would have said FFXIII even before I played it myself though :P.
Mass Effect to since that's been the main game I've been playing. Bayonetta was also pretty sweet. I've yet to play FFXIII.
definitely bioshock 2 , because it's pressed on vinyl
I vote Bioshock 2....Pairbond is amazing and so is Eleanor's LullabyBioshock 2, I would nopt be suprised if this game wins best soundtrack of the year...its really great. Its not a typical videogame soundtrack.

I think no other soundtrack captures the atmosphere like that one this year.

Im pretty sure I was the first :P
I also still stand by demon souls. Many games can have a great soundtrack but it felt like it belonged on DS. So do many others, as well though.
edit: actually the second

Baynetta had a awesome soundtrack.
I choose Bayonetta too :P :D[QUOTE="PAL360"]
Mass Effect 2 launch trailer song

SaudiFury
or the
Suicide Mission
Tali's OST (seems to capture the Quarians pretty well as well)
Legion's OST (seems to capture the Geth perfectly..)
Afterlife Club music
or my favorite
Dark Star Club Music
The music when you see the Normandy Sr2 for the first time is epic. To say the least, And the Halo;Reach music will no doubt be the best. No game touches Halo's musicI loved it too. I even found the song for the trailer! It's called 'Heart of Courage' by Two Steps from Hell.I personally liked the music from Mass Effect 2 :P
bobbleheadrogue
God I love the Prime series' soundtrack. Gandrayda's theme is my favorite from MP3. Tallon Overworld 2 is my favorite from MP, and the Sanctuary fortress from MP2. The series does not get enough attention for its soundtrack.Yes, I agree. Definitely Final Fantasy XIII. But Heavy Rain comes in at a very close second.
Now, if we're talking 2007, then it would definitely have to go to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.Hands down the best Soundtrack of 2007. I know thats a bit off topic, but I'm kind of obsessed with the Metroid Prime Trilogy right now. lol

Agreed. Every song is, at least, excellent, but not all of them are brilliant, with one or two standing out as being truly epic. I honestly don't understand anyone who speaks poorly of Mass Effect 2's soundtrack. My guess is that they're either emotionless hard*sses or they played the entire game with the "Music" turned all the way down. Seriously, anyone who can't even appreciate an epic piece of music like "Suicide Mission," or an adrenaline-pumping track like "Tali" or "Grunt," or a truly moving piece like "Reflections needs to get their ears checked. Still, it's nothing to get myself *too* worked up over. I don't think the old cliche' "It's their loss" has been more fitting than in regards to the ME2 OST haters. Please Log In to post.
