Lets not forget Ninja Gaiden.Blackbond
I want to second that, because after playing the old 2D games and now the 3D ones, NG was very impressive transition, thats why I think NGB can be forgiven, for not being a sequal as it perfected in my opinion a first attemp that wasn't all that was intended or wanted by the developer.
I also give props to Ocarina of Time because I damn well love that, some of my fondest gaming memories.
Doom, im not sure about, because it was always 3D in intention, it was played in 3D even when it was 2D. Not that I want to take anything away from it.
Thats actuaqlly a difficult question. But I'll go with Metal Gear. Because the MGS1 was vastly better than any 2d metal gear. Which, with every other one, is questionable. organic_machine
ahh good point. MGS it is! :)
EDIT: Wow, I'm surprised so many people voted Mario. I found the 2d mario games WAY better than the 3d ones.

Super Mario World is still my favourite Mario game, and the perfect 2D platformer in my opinion. :)
Edit: I actually enjoyed Banjo Kazooie more than Mario 64.

Ahh, well I guess I'm not alone then. Super Mario World has always been my favourite as well :D
There's also Ninja Gaiden.gasmaskmanAs a "transition", NG is pretty horrible. Though both the NES series and Modern Series are fantastic in there own rights, they share nothing in common other the the title, the protagonists name and occupation, and a couple of moves. A good "transition" needs to at least stay true to the original games' heart and soul, which NG on Xbox doesn't do. Instead it just created it's own, new, equally awesome but completely different heart and soul.
[QUOTE="Riverwolf007"]GTA3 is not even in the poll? Are you kidding me? Angakua
agreed...to this day no game has ever gave me that atmosphere that gta III gave me...that foggy/rainy and sad weather...was just perfect..
Not to mention that the aftereffects of GTA3's success changed gaming in some pretty major ways and is still the target that people shoot for when making sandbox titles. The poll is nothing more than a Nintendo W**k-fest.
