Best video game romance?

I mean, nothing beats Squall and Rinoa in outer space, does it? Am I rite, SW? What’s the best video game romance?

Hard to choose between Cloud Tifa and Cloud Aireth.

Tifa is cute while Aireth is so innocent.

But... Assasins Creed III.

Thought this was really well done. At least by goo-goo ga-ga video game levels.

Personally Xenogears Fei and Elly story is still the best and spans idk probably thousand years of reincarnations.

Hope we get a remaster of this incredible game someday. I love the game really but replaying it really shows its age. The combat mechanics sucked and platforming is really imprecise.

@ghosts4ever: Ghosts is an expert on romance movies. He watches Titanic, La La Land and the Before Sunrise trilogy.

I know Ghosts has a rough exterior, but I know the truth that he is actually the most romantic guy on Gamespot.

Still, The Prince and Farah in Sands of Time. Literally the only romance so far that doesn't make me feel cringe. And Ubisoft ruined that with that odd ending sex scene in Warrior Within, because... it's edgy (2000's) and since Kaileena is Monica Bellucci, let's one up her kissing scene with Keanu Reeves in Matrix 2, I guess.

Sora and Kairi in Kingdom Hearts. It's the only video game "romance" that sucked me in. I wasn't satisfied with how KH3 ended up both in terms of story and gameplay.

But I guess if I had to pick the least bad it would be Viciona in Baldur's Gate 2. It actually lead to character development, that even had impact on the gameplay.

Okabe and "Christina" in Steins Gate... I love the chemistry and banter between the two. While exaggerated, their romance feels somewhat realistic and believable, unlike the vast majority of video game romances (or fictional romances in general).

Shovel Knight x Shield Knight. Not all in your face and sappy, just serves as his motivation with a cute mechanical tie in for the last phase of the final boss.

Since you brought up FF, probably go with FF9 of that bunch.

Ghost's transformation happened when FF7 Remake came to PC... This board's biggest surprise of the year.

Came in here to post Steins; Gate too. I think this is the only game romance I've been invested in because of how unforced it felt. By the end, you as the player, really want Rintaro to save Kurisu.

He also watches romance movies. Last week he was talking to me about romance movies. I mentioned the Before Sunrise trilogy a while back and he went ahead and watched it, I didn't even have to recommend them to him. Could have just been triggered over the fact the Before Sunrise trilogy is more highly acclaimed than John Wick or something, but the fact he even puts in the effort at all--

Anyhow Jahera and Khalid come to mind from Baldurs Gate. Good banter, a bit of an odd couple but you could tell there was love there.

Wasn't Gordon put in stasis, though? At the end of HL1? Then he was more or less pulled out of stasis at the start of HL2.

So I think biologically they can't be that far apart.
