The last paragraph of that article says it all:
The 90 percent figure is staggering, though shouldn't be misconstrued and brought into another ignorant "PC gaming is dying" argument (FYI: it's been "dying" for a good decade or so, somehow). Many developers (DICE, Blizzard, Valve, etc), see great success on the PC, mainly, we'd think, due to understanding it and putting the extra effort in -- departments Bethesda have been lacking in sinceOblivion.
link this speaks volumes on how much power the PC has in the market, we all want to believe that the PC not dying but when a developer says that only 10% of their audience is on a PC, it's only a matter of time before they eject themselves from that market as many developers already have btw I'm a PC gamer, my 360 and PS3 have dust on them in the living room and only my mom and sister use it for netflicks so I'm not anti-PC, I just worry about the future of gaming on it so can any other conclusions or predictions be made based on this SW?Decrate
I cannot believe that it is really 90, but who knows. Bad Company 2 is far more popular and sold better on PC than it did on consoles. I guess that points out that PC gaming is dieing?
90% of most audience is on consoles. The average person can't be bothered blowing cash on a PC and then having to install the game and tweak settings and crap like that. The average person would rather just get the game sit back on the couch and play on a HD Tv with friends.
I don't see the benefits of console games....funsohng
fixed it for you :P
lol I am kidding, but not really :P

thats because console gamers refuse to expand their boundaries and play a modern war shooter other than CoD. It really ticks me off too, because i played BF2 like crazy on my PC and BF2142 got even more. But when i want to play BC2 on my 360 with some friends for a change, they instantly say: no teh Blac Ops iz bettar!!I agreeI think that saying 90% of the Oblivion audience is on consoles is the more accurate statement.
I love The Elder Scrolls. Oblivion, while it has its moments, is IMO the weakest game in the series.

Yeah shame on people for playing what they enjoy....Based on this one series? more lke Oblivion I can only speak for america. But it's pretty clear that here PC gaming is quite a bit more expensive up front than console gaming. This makes it less accessible across the board. Bad Company 2 is bigger than Oblivion .
You're joking? Bethesda has the most extensive modding community on the PC. How much more of an effort do you want? Do you expect every developer to put their main focus in the PC platform ( like DICE and Blizzard )? Please grow up.[QUOTE="Arach666"]The last paragraph of that article says it all.SkyWard20

No, people expect not to have to mod features that should be standard in a game. We shouldnt have to create a new interface because the one Bethesda gave us is terrible, stuff like that should be standard.

why on earth do so many people use consoles ? I can understand certain people using them. But good heavens.dkdk999Cheap and easy. Like asking why so many people eat at McDonalds or why so many people shop at Walmart.

Dice said it.

DICE associate producer Barrie Tingle revealed an interesting tidbit; the PC version of the game is the most embraced.
"PC currently has more people playing and are in game servers than both the consoles," Tingle wrote on the shooter's official forums.
That's 'more people than either of the consoles,' he specified. "You'll need to work to beat both consoles combined effort".
So BC2 dominated both consoles on PC?
This isn't a passing trend either, expect more numbers like this in the future for DICE and other devs.

If they want the games to sell better on the PC,they will. Are you for real? Did you understand the article? If that's all Bethesda makes on the PC, they don't need us.I've got a theory that hermits' sense of entitlement can make them periodically immune to facts. It's always "give us what we wan't or else". They don't even ponder the possibility of being an expendable demographic.

For THIS particular franchise. Nobody is forcing them to bring it on PC, and nobody is forcing them to make mod tools. Since they are bringing it on PC, they should do it right if they want someone to buy it.[QUOTE="SkyWard20"]Are you for real? Did you understand the article? They lack the cahones to make a proper PC game. With the console era everything has to be stripped down and made easily understandable.
Modders save ES.
Hmm, I'm finding that 90% hard to believe, but then again they haven't released any official sales stats.tagyhagI don't. It was before DD really took off, and it was one of the best console games for a while.

The Elder Scrolls series is no stranger to success: the previous title in the series, Morrowind, is still one of the top 25 best-selling PC games -- four years after its release.
According to the NPD group Oblivion is currently the top selling PC game in North America, Germany, France, and the UK with the Special Collector's Edition (which includes Pocket Guide to the Empire, "Making of Oblivion" Documentary, and a Septim Gold Coin for a retail cost $10 more than the non-collector's edition) right behind it. The two versions represented 13% of all PC game sales during their first week of release.
