I especially like the effort that they put into Oblivion, so all things considered, they're good in my book.
From what I played of Morrowed and ES4. ES4 > Morrowind. The combat, presentation and scope was a lot better. Morrowind just felt archaic to me.
You would have to devote a lot of time with Morrwind to enjoy it but with ES4, you can jump right in though some might argue that ES4 lacks depth in comparison. I think theres a trade off that biased opinions wont admit.
You're comparing an X-Box 360 game to an X-Box game (or old PC game to new PC game)...Of course the scope, presentation and combat will be better looking, but that's not fair to Morrowind at all. Give the game updated graphics and full NPC sound, and people would say Morrowind>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Oblivion.I especially like the effort that they put into Oblivion, so all things considered, they're good in my book.

Degrading a genre wouldn't be one of the qualities in my top five developers list.Vandalvideo
You say Degrading, well thats you're opinion. But many others think they have UPGRADED these games, Including myself.
Just because something gets a little simpler doesnt always mean its a bad thing.

The people who say it's been upgraded must not be clear on the definition of an upgrade. Upgrades don't make things worse.
Oblivion was great but it wasnt really innovative in any way. The witcher ME and many other WRPGs are just as good.
as for fallout 3, i cant say.
as for innovation and quality.....Blizzard is the Holy Grail of the gaming world, and Valve is Holy Grail's cousin the Holy Keg.
Oblivion for the traditional robed mage.
There is no unarmoured skill, the majority of the unarmoured benefits are given to armoured characters mid-late level.
Equipment enchantment quality removed, high quality mage robe enchantment capacity the same as armour.
Clothing sets were left incomplete (gloves), clothed characters always have less enchantment slots than armoured.
Many clothing outfits are combine, compounding the less enchantment slot issue.
The arcane university is set up as a place for the best of the best mages, you enter at 2nd lowest rank in the guild while higher ranking mages dream of going there one day.
Arcane university perks such as enchanting can be easily accessed by none magic users.
Mage guild quests are not reliant on magic skill as scrolls are always provided, warriors with no magic ability can become arch mage.
The arena poster shows a robed mage, robed mages get kicked out of the arena for not wearing arena armour.
Mage specific equipment such as the magic staff are just as effective for none mages, more even since none magic users don't have magic skill training to worry about.

Bethesda, the best developer? Excuse me while I laugh my ass off.
Oblivion was one of the most overrated games this gen, in my opinion, and Fallout 3 will likely fail to meet the hype as well, and thier is lots of it.But it'll likely follow in it's daddy's footsrteps and recieve praise everywhere.
That being said, they make good games, not great games.

Same with Valve.
I strongly disagree, as I think Bethesda is a horribly overated company. I'm not saying their games are bad but I was really disappointed by Mass Effect and I could not get into Oblivion.
There is only one RPG "God" and that is Square.

Square Enix remakes ****cs and makes crappy spin-offs to make money. They need some of that to make newer games... and because they are greedy, like everyone else in the world.
But you have to remember that they have pumped out some excellent games once they became Square Enix. What about Kindgom Hearts II, Final Fantasy XII, The World Ends With You, and many more?

ha ha ha... oh, wait, I think he's serious...
I prefer a god who doesn't screw up so often.
If Bethesda were god, there would be no children in the world, guards would beat people to death for stealing a grape, and people would wander around aimlessly, or stare at walls for hours on end. If Bethesda were god, geriatric women could kill experienced soldiers, water would come out of the tap a cloudy grey color, recruits could join opposing armies, and no one would be bothered if a convicted criminal was the last person to see a national leader alive.

Square Enix is awesome, though. :? They are the only developers this generation to have an RPG score AAA this generation.
