IMO In a day and age of DLC stuff like this shouldn't exist. Personally I think both devs should have gone the Bioware approach and sold SSF4 and ODST as an expansion like Dragon age origin's awakening.

cookie for bioware

A cookie for bioware

Also before anyone jumps onto GT5p the game ever was 40 bucks and is one of the most updated games this gen with new content.

GT5P. Paying a high price for an expansion sucks, paying a high price for a demo sucks more.

Ofc, but neither of them are as bad as GT5P, not that any of them are a good thing when price is considered.

Why should I get it as DLC when I could buy it on disk and go with it anywhere, give it anybody who likes to try it or finish it and do whatever I do with it?

I prefer paying for a disk based expansion rather than DLC with limited freedom.

Btw I didn't feel cheated while playing ODST and SSF4 since both were completely satisfying full games.

For SSF4 that would of been two big for DLC IMO. Also I don't feel cheated because I know I'll clock in 200 hes + playing SSF4. As for Halo 3 ODST I can't comment I never played it and know nothing about the game. Plus it isn't like SSF4 was a full price game.

Capcom did an amazing job tweaking and rebalancing SSFIV and the new characters are great additions. I played for at least 20 hours last week with friends. I wasn't a fan of ODST.

EDIT: and everyone knew SSFIV was coming. There will probably be another revision on top of this one.

It is a demo, its a big demo but still a demo. ODST has plenty of new levels/weapons/characters and a new story, plus it has a brand new mode in Firefight. Then you have all the Halo 3 maps and multiplayer on a seperate disc. But i wouldnt exactly call it a full game as expansion pack suits it much better.

So GT5P isnt a full game, its not an expansion pack, so its a ... wait for it ... glorified Demo.

Demos are demonstrations of the final game. Gtp5 is in no way demonstrating GT5.

I'm happy with buying both as they are the only games I'll play this month. I was on the second disc of FF 13 and stopped as soon as the Reach Beta came out.

Personally, I think ODST is a good deal ONLY if you didn't already own Halo 3. I didn't buy it because I bought all the Halo 3 maps, and I wasn't paying $60 for the same maps again and the tiny bit of extra campaign. I think they should have sold two versions, ODST single player for $30, and the full ODST with Halo 3 multiplayer for $60. I'd have to say because of that, ODST is the biggest ripoff, they should have also sold the 3 maps from ODST as DLC from day 1.

look, you are saying it is a demo right? prove it, show me a demo exactly like GT5p, what I mean by that is as much content rich as GT5p, good luck finding one.

I dunno, but i'm about to start boycotting DLC in its current state. Games are already over-priced, and they're just tricking us into paying more. Don't be deceived, especially with the games with the DLC already on the disc. They're just inventing a new way to charge you 80 or 100 dollars for a game instead of 60.

Sure, I paid 100 dollars for Final Fantasy 3 on the SNES. Its still the only game I could justify spending that much money on. Atleast all the content was available at launch, no need for patching and no hidden fees. I find it hard to believe that technology has regressed since the mid-90's, so whats the excuse?

Most importantly, I never felt like I was being conned. I'd pay an extra 40 bucks for THAT feeling again.

Its the best clasification my tiny mind can come up with atm, but you know exactly what i mean. I brought ODST into this as an example of another "non game" that costs nearly the same price (or the same in ODST's case) for alot less content.

@ Respawn: A demo can be a demonstration of the engine and a sample size of the cars, tracks and modes expected to be in the finished version no?

uh no. I got my money's worth out of ODST, easy >.>

ODST campaign, co-op/splitscreen, online co-op, Firefight +co-op, MP disc with all the maps and I've put in over 100 hours, more than any game I own.

why does TC rule out GT5p?

a glorified demo cannot be compared to a glorified expansion pack....or...it comes down to exclusivity.

SSF4 cost the same price as the Dragon Age expansion you praised. SSF4 is far from a rip off. If for $40 for SF4 + new moves for every character, 10 new characters, new backgrounds, new online modes.

If that's a rip-off, then what would you call the $60 they charged for SF4?

well i paid $40( the price it was originally supposed to be in the first place)for ODST at $60 micorsoft can kick rocksfor that price and as for super street fighter 4 from what i have played so far it was worth the $35 i paid for it. So no i dont think they are rip-offs at all but at $60 ODST was a rip off IF you bought all the maps on live.

no, they just took the money and threw it into the fire AKA the inflated budget GT5 has garnered.

the consumer won't see that money and they'll be left with an utterly worthless game when GT5 is released.

Because They released a Gran Turismo 5 Demo: Link This is the GT5 Demo, not Prologue. Prologue is practically a full game, but not quite, therefore it has the lower price tag. Nothing wrong with trying to help fund your project with a taste of what's coming. Which I think is much better than Re-selling people the same Maps they already bought for their game.

ODST is the biggest ripoff for anybody wanting to play the little bit of campaign, but not wanting to buy a second disk with all the old maps they Already own, and 3 new ones. Like I said they should have sold ODST singleplayer disk as a $30 and a combo of it and the multiplayer for $60, and sold the 3 new maps online from day one of ODST's release.

Edit: Please note I meant ODST is a ripoff only for those who have already bought the Halo 3 map packs, if you didn't already buy them then it's fine, but I still say they should have sold a half price, singleplayer/firefight disk separate from the 2 disk version.

Bottom line is.. gamers paid $40 for an early demo of the final product.. Yes it had a lot of content but nothing you won't see in the final game anyway. And IMHO I think GTP started this mess..

Bioware sold a DLC as first day release...... how is that a positive...... They should all go the PC route and give patches out for free.... like it should've been on systems.

You're assuming everyone had the Halo 3 DLC. I didn't, so it was great. The ODST campaign was about 5 to 7 hours and then there was Firefight mode. Then there is the Halo Reach beta invitation. Why don't you mention Heavenly Sword, which can not only be beaten in 4 hours, but has zero replay value. What about God of War 3, which can be completed in one sitting and has next to no replay value as well? OP fails.

You know that Dragon Age Awakenings is $40 which is the same price as Super SFIV, right?

[QUOTE="OhSnapitz"] So riddle me this.. If you paid $40 for the "isnt a demo" GTP.. Will Polyphony charge $20 or $60 for GT5 considering GT5 will have everything you played in prologue. That's a $100 GT5 PS3 experience.. Please justify that one.. MrJack3690

Oh.. You mean like a prequel campaign (Halo 3 ODST) funding Halo Reach... :|

btw, I never owned any of the previous maps in Halo 3. (But In hind sight I don't think Halo 3 ODST was worth $60).

The gameplay, online and graphics as well as almost all the cars and tracks will be new in gt5. Its not demonstrating (aka demo) Gt5 at all. We have been given a gt5 demo on the psn store and its nothing like prologue

Well if Poly charge 40 quid for that half assed "full" game what are they gonna charge for a game with 100x more cars and alot more tracks, modes, better graphics, customization etc. etc.

Oh and isnt it right that it takes absolutely ages (180 days?) to build a car for GT5 so why on earth would they scrap all the time invested in those cars and not include them in the final game?.

How? ODST was being developed before MS comissioned Halo Reach. GT5p is a glorified tech demo of GT5 (STILL in development) designed as a quick cash grab because development costs are spiralling out of controll.

You don't finish development on Monday and ship on Tuesday; BioWare (and virtually every other developer) has ~2 months between effectively finishing a game and when the game releases. Developers aren't going to pay employees to sit around twiddling their thumbs, so would you rather BioWare finish the DLC and then sit on it for 3 or 4 weeks so that it isn't "day one" DLC?

Which is why bungie announced Halo Read at last years E3 (4 month prior to Halo 3 ODST launching). :|

Yes because that's make everything better and justified... :|

I don't get why people stay on this dying bandwagon and keep saying SSFIV is a cash-in. People complaining about it obviously don't even play the game, and not only that they're not even paying attention to what the game is offering on top of the original game. And regarding the price, TC should've noticed that awakening and super sf4 carries the same price tag.

GT5P. Paying a high price for an expansion sucks, paying a high price for a demo sucks more.

Snugenz
But that is a PS3 game so it does not count for the TC since he just wants to try to bash Halo or at least that is what it seems.
