[QUOTE="InsaneBasura"]And? Are you saying that the new Beyond Good & Evil will probably be a great game because he is making it? Well, that's exactly what I said, nevertheless I admit there's a possibility for the game to lose it's original charm as it goes toward a more realistic approach. Let's wait for more info, specially gameplay info, before passing judgment. Right now, I'm only talking about the graphical ****[quote="Wikipedia"]Ancel was also heavily involved in the development of Rayman 2: The Great Escape, but had only an advisory role on Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. Although he praised its development team, he claims he would have "made the game differently".MagnuzGuerra
And so you can't infer BG&E2 might be inferior compared to BG&E because Rayman 3 was inferior compared to Rayman 2.
If anything, what the teaser shows is that it has a loveable charm, not that they've went all Warrior Within on us. I can see why you're concerned, but I have faith in Ancel and team.
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]So? No one is going to play this one either.IbacaiI will, just like the first. :P
I think word of mouth might help push this game quite a bit actually. I mean, we've been whining about Beyond Good & Evil, virally marketing it, for years. And the incredible graphics of the teaser are sure to grab people's attention. It's like an animated movie...which it technically is, but you know what I mean. Plus it seems like Ubisoft are gonna back the game better this time around. Like, what other game teaser has looked this well produced? And it's likely just the first one of several. The visuals alone should be indicator enough that Ubisoft are putting some resources into this.
For the record, I very much doubt the game will actually look exactly like the trailer, it looks a bit too incredible, but if they say it's the "in-game engine" or whatever there's bound to be a smidgen of truth to it.
To the people saying they should have put it out on Wii:
Do you really think it would sell on the Wii? Most Wii owners probably haven't even heard of the original game. The Wii just isn't the right market for the game. Beyond Good & Evil is made for gamers who can appreciate good writing and design. I know Zelda: TP and Mario Galaxy did well, but those games have an established name. Hardly anyone with a Wii would give a crap about BG&E2, and they would have to water down the graphics and throw in some motion-controlling nonsense. I say keep in the right direction and keep it 360/PS3/PC only.

well games such as no more heroes, zack and wiki and okami have done quite well sales wise according to their respective developers so I would say that there is a market for off-the-wall games on wii.

Oh I see. So it hasn't been given the green light yet from Ubisoft? WTH? Hmm if such is the case, not being on the PC and Wii won't make the decision that much easier for them... unless of course, Ubisoft jumps at their throats. But hell, at least the possibility is there. However, that clearly states that people shouldn't bounce around for this just yet.
Edited: Not to mention that if this is true. My skepticism definitely stands on the engine part.

I stand corrected, if indeed it has been under way over a year the engine is definitely a possibility. I did find it wierd though that the article was less than a month old and that they had the engine without even having the green light from Ubisoft. But as it appears, Ubisoft has been holding out on this for quite some time.
