Wasn't this already known? I'll upgrade to Windows 7 by the time BF3 comes out anyway, no big deal :P.
BF3 will be a beast, for surre.I want to know how their damage modeling and environment destruction will turn out.
hoping it's mind-blowing...because I'm a real sucker for destruction:P
could be an insta-buy just based on that.

is there going to be destruction ? It's weird if it will. I mean why not just call it bad company 3 if it's going to have destruction.I want to know how their damage modeling and environment destruction will turn out.

I wouldnt get to hyped for this just yet. It sounds like they might just lock out the DX9 features for PC gamers. I mean this is ment to be in development for consoles as well? and they will bring in more sales most likely combined. I guess we will have to wait to see what this turns out to be like. I hope its a beast of a game but not to beasty that it requires insaine computers to run it at full settings etc.

Remember, the Frostbite 2.0 engine is being built for native DX11 (or DX10) while the Frostbite engine is the ones on the consoles.

2.0 is for both consoles, 2.0 according to devs is mostly alot more optimized, it would be suicide to use 1.5 on consoles when a better performance is achieved with 2.0Good.
This is what my tax return will go to.
My last built PC in 2005 was for BF2, the next will be for BF3.
I just have to re-learn how to play shooters on PC again. I have gotten so used to shooters on the DualShock3
well xp users must be pissed . This is good news for high end gamers as xp has held back pc gaming a bit .
DX9 is an abstraction layer, consoles can circumvent abstraction layers, so DX doesn't really apply to consoles, not to mention the same mechanics are probablly still apart of dx11, it just has several extra features, they just want you to believe there are big differences, so you'll upgrade operating systems.I wouldnt get to hyped for this just yet. Yeah this was pretty much known as Dice was excited about DX11 on PC, the cell (or something I cant remember) on the PS3, and they didnt really say there was anything special about the 360 :P.
Yeah but Windows 7 really is the way to go now. I understood holding off on Vista and keeping XP, but 7 is so damned good and solid now I don't see the reason not to upgrade...well, except for money.well xp users must be pissed . 1. SPU MLAA's existance on PS3 = incompetent HDR FP + MSAA. Workaround for RSX issue.
2. Log encoded HDR's existance on PS3 = incompetent HDR FP + MSAA. Workaround for RSX issue.
Onsomecases, the limitation is on the actual hardware.
I think PC users have used to upgrade their hardware and software because of new games. I don't have problems with this. I got Win 7 with my new PC.

what you think every console developer developes in machine codes while referring to the provided instruction set book for the GPUs??? lmfao
MS killed DX10 by not supporting it for XP, its not the gamers fault that its an otherwise perfectly usable OS.GulliversTravel
The OS is rather outdated and not as much driver support.
Windows 7 runs just as good if not better in some areas and it has great driver support.
It's good news, but the gameplay could still easily be consolized.
I'm also still waiting on my 128 player maps, which were originally going to be included in BF2.
great news, hopefully this will be like BF2, which was technically far ahead of the console games at the time. (in 2005 with the xbox, Cube, and PS2 gen):P
I will be buying this :)
Now the last time I played Battlefield 2 was around the time it came out, but you know what? I don't even know what about that game I liked...I truly just don't know, but I do know that I would head to my friends house unannounced just to hijack his PC to play it :P
Let's hope this turns out nicely :)
[QUOTE="mayceV"]I'm not spending $200 just to play one ****ing game. DICE can suck me off. So long as you have Vista or Win7 you can still play DX11 games with a DX10 card.http://bf3blog.com/2010/12/battlfield-3-wont-support-windows-xp/

BF3 is the only game that will make me upgrade to Windows 7. Windows XP has been good to me, haven't spent a dime on a new OS in a long time and I still run all the games I want, and able to do everything I need to do on my PC.

You're missing out. Windows 7 is amazing. I never had Vista, but upgrading to Windows 7 after XP was one of the best things I ever did. It was worth every penny.
Games actually ran faster in 7 with the same hardware I was using before the upgrade in XP.
the memories "hearts" i hope its just like 2!!great news, hopefully this will be like BF2, which was technically far ahead of the console games at the time. (in 2005 with the xbox, Cube, and PS2 gen):P

Little off topic but I see you are playing Drakensang, enjoying it? I found it to be a nice little under the radar rpg ;)
it was known that the game would support DX11..not that XP users are getting left out in the rain.:P Wrong[QUOTE="DarkerKamikaze"]

its like a whole new game from when I was playing it in DX10/DX9.Really? The only difference I see from dx9 to 10, 11 is DoF. I mean you have Tess and Adv. DoF for dx11, but those hardly add anything imo. Everything else stays the same from 9 to 11.kozzy1234
win7 64 bit is lame , dont get it ,
get 32 bit version if you can but ya time to leave xp behind for vista or 7 , i like my vista better lol
