Only 9 maps??????? BC2 launched with 10.USBxDVD
...because you can directly compare multiplayer content simply by the numerical quantity of maps...sigh

Well, I am still somewhat disappointed by relatively small armory in the game. I want at least one hundred different guns, but no... we all have to stick to the ones from BF2/BC2 for the most part.

Nine maps doesn't bother me. No doubt, EA will be selling us a lot of map packs in the future.

That's all or will they announce more weapons in the near future? It would be extremely disappointing if this was the final weapons for the game. I have been using half of these weapons since BC1... give me new freaking weapons not another AN94 or AKS74u wtf??? This is the first weak point of BF3, no good :(silversix_
That's almost every weapon used by modern the military. It's a shooter based on real weapons, they can't just start making up guns. There are over 50 guns...how many do you seriously need?

Anything over 20 weapons is a freaken nightmare to balance. Remember in BF2 the base weapons for each faction were the exact same guns reskinned 3 times, so they weren't really different.

The AEK and the AN94 were both failed attempts to replace the current AK platform in Russia. That's why BF3 has the AK-74, which makes the most sense. They should have AKMs as well, but they don't. :(

Wasdie

Seriously what's the point of having so many variations of one gun in a single game? It's not that awesome from a gameplay standpoint.

AKM fires a 7.62x39 while the AK-47 fires a 5.56x39 round. The AKM is more powerful but less accurate and has less range.

Wha? The AK47 does not fire 5.56x39 as that is not a real round nor the 5.56x45 NATO round. Ak74 and AK74M fire 5.45x39 round.

OT: I'm happy with the selections, Found them fun to use in the Alpha trial, and I can't freaking wait for this game to come out.

I hear the return of the comrose (aka radial menu) has been confirmed. Anything else would've been stupid.

http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/7480749.page

So it seems the EOD bot is used to disarm explosives. I'm guessing tank mines, claymores and C4.

mitu123

Well, yes. The question is how it's supposed to fit into the whole. It appears slow and fragile, so you need to deploy it relatively close to where you want it to be. Where you want it to be is where explosives are placed, which tend to be where there's plenty of traffic. It should have no offensive capabilities. So you're expected to curl up and leave yourself defenseless in the outskirts of a likely cluster**** and pull a Captain Spiers with this thing? For the purpose of disarming explosives that may or may not actually be there. Most of which can be defused by shooting/blowing them up anyway. Or what?

MAV Micro UAV
I'm gonna go ahead and assume this will be less of a mini attack chopper than the one in BC2. Perhaps you won't even pilot it and it'll be like the UAV in BF2.

mitu123

Maybe so since I read only Recons can use it.

So you pilot it and it has at least one weapon. I fear wookies transforming into bushpilots. Going even further away into the distance, lying down in some shrubbery and deploying UAV's until their team has lost. Also, in BC2 it's quite a powerful little thing, so since there's now going to be a lot more than one of them, I hope they've toned it down in some capacity.

The F2000 is back ! God I love that thing.

The A-10 Thunderbolt has also been confirmed !

Mystic-G

I use to love the F2000 in BF2, in BC2 it kinda sucked.

I'm just glad the G3 is back, I consistently love that gun in BF2 and BC2.

I loved it in BF2. It took some getting used to in BC2 but once you get the hang of it this gun is a beast. It's practically the only assault rifle I use.

I don't really like the regenerating vehicles concept though, wouldn't that make engineers redundant....not to mention how much of a pain tanks will become.

the multiplayer modes are lacking, but 9 + 4 maps is 13 which is pretty fine to me, but why couldn't they just make more modes for multiplayer, is it that hard?

9 maps for Conquest, Rush, TDM, SDM, SR. 10 separate co-op maps.

Conquest is all that's required really. But they could've conjured up something a little more interesting than Squad Deathmatch and Squad Rush I suppose. Scaled down versions of TDM and Rush, feels like such a thrown together back of the box bulletpoint thing.

For what it's worth there will be infantry only and hardcore modes.

I don't really like the regenerating vehicles concept though, wouldn't that make engineers redundant....not to mention how much of a pain tanks will become.

Sagem28

I don't know why this is being introduced. Vehicles have hardly been underpowered in this series.

Today, DICE has posted an official list of weapons, attachments, perks, and vehicles which will be in BF3. You can see that list here.

But I am really disappointed and somewhat underwhelmed by this list. I was hoping to see a more diverse range of weapons. Additionally, the vehicles list also tells us that Iran probably won't be making it into the multiplayer. There is an Iranian assault rifle (KH2002) listed, but I am guessing it's an unlock and not a faction-specific weapon. Additionally, certain anachronistic weapons like the M1 Garand and the Thompson sub-machine gun won't be in the game. The Russian VSS (a personal favorite from BC2) is not listed either.

Finally, I find it odd that DICE would make the G3 an unlock, yet ignore its successor, the G36. Yes, I know the G36C is in the game, but why not the G36?

DangerousLiquid

How can you not be disappointed? It's Dice, and it's Battlefield. You're destined to get disappointed.

At least it wont be the same game thats came out every year since 2007 like a certain other game I know that ends with 3 :D

Yeah both the AK-47 and AKM fires 7.62x39mm rounds.

Yep, if it doesn't, I've been putting imaginary rounds through mine.

I'm guessing vehicle health regen is there because vehicles can be totally disabled when damaged enough to not be drivable until repaired, as proof in one of the vids, so they need a fighting chance or something.

If this applies to jets, then wow.

Why did you assume I was talking about COD? And why did you need to use the usual tactic of saying someone needed to justify their purchase? And why would I need to do that when Im getting both? Exactly Im done

some modes from call of duty, capture the flag type modes, search and destroy type stuff not exactly like it, but somewhat good enough and scaled to be like a battlefield mode
