If you somehow cannot enjoy gaming on a controller that has proven itself to be fine for all sorts of games for nearly two decades, then you need to reevaluate your hobbies.
"Flaws" in a dual analog stick controller are relative to that of your own prefrences. You can make a *bad* controller but the current ones on the market are far from bad.
If you dwell on a "flaw" with a controller for FPSs to the point it makes you not enjoy games, then you're taking it way to seriously.
Bascially you sound like this whenever somebody can't have fun with a controller: "STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE! CAN'T YOU SEE YOU'RE RUINING GAMING? STOP HAVING FUN!"
There are niche exceptions though, those are few and far between.

Some of the best games come out of creative design that works around hardware limitations. Silent Hill and the Metal Gear Solid are great examples of this.[QUOTE="Wasdie"]

We've hit a period of time where even the weak consoles have more than enough resources to do nearly any thing the developer wants them to do.
The only thing that consoles are "holding back" is graphics, and those are getting so good they are natrually about to stop advancing due to the time it takes to make games with the photorealistic graphics PC gamers think every game should have.
Consoles are only inferior in the mind of somebody who knows nothing about gaming outside of pretty graphics and thinks by playing one platform makes you better.
There are plenty of PC exclusives that are niche and appeal to very small audiences. Mainstream gaming hasn't changed in decades. It's just that people think that the niche genres are the direction gaming should head.

Really? Well then I just imagined that DICE had to shrink 7 YEAR OLD BF2 maps so that consoles could handle them in BF3. Every aspect of content is held back by consoles, not just graphics.
My favorite games:
Arma 2
Project Reality (BF2)
STALKER series
BF 2 and 2142
Crysis 1
Garry's Mod
RedOrchestra 1 and 2
MANY of those games are NOT graphical stunners (though many are), so clearly I only care about graphics

Because of the console and CoD crowd, BF3 is lacking when compared to its 7 year old ancestor in many ways, that's a big problem!
So here's a fun question: I have a triple monitor setup. Since this isn't yet a mainstream setup, support is still frustratingly inconsistent. Would it be fair for me to blame you single-monitor users for holding back my gaming experience? If not, why not?lowe0
It wouldn't, because other than the monitor support, your games aren't ruined by single monitors, as opposed to very core features of games being ruined by console limitations.
However, unlike how consolers are unable to admit PC is better, I WOULD be able to admit multi-display is better, although only for resolution and FOV..

No, you're an idiot. You quoted your own post. Were you trying to respond with your alt and forgot to log out?
Go check the distances between the flags in BF2 and in BF3. They are the same.
The differences are that BF3 has an unlimited view distance, characters move faster, sprint faster, have unlimited sprint, vehicles move faster. Also, everything is just a little larger scale. Characters are larger, trees, rocks, buildings, everything is a little fatter to show off the detail of the textures better. They can get away with having stuff have larger surface area for textures as the texture res is much higher.
The only map they "shrunk" was Karkand where they moved the American spawn location a bit closer to eliminate the long run. The rest of the maps are the same size.
Of course you won't believe me, it's just easier to dismiss it and believe that DICE "casualized" everything becuase that will make you feel superior.
Though, keep calling games casualized and made for the CoD audience. You're just proving my point about PC gamers.

Wasdie is right. I've read the official BF3 guide, and there is virtually no difference between the 64 and 24 player version minus an extra m-com station in some of the smaller maps. Ironbash
He's talking about BF2 to BF3, not BF3 on the PC to BF3 on the consoles. He's still wrong but wants to jump on the hate bandwagon because it makes him feel superior for screaming "casualized".
The games that are aiming for realism and extremely comprehensive control schemes inherently need to be on PC where you can have such a large number of controls mapped. In a title like ArmA II, you also have the extreme amounts of memory needed to render and store the world that will be used without have to reduce the visual quality so far down. However, this argument is not entirely valid, considering the great strides developers have made in producing such large, yet detailed worlds with very good LOD management.
Beyond the graphics issue, the PC does have the general processing potential ace up it's sleeve. We could argue all day about what the Xenon and Cell have and could do, but at the end of the day, something like an Intel i7 is by far the superior CPU, not because of GFLOPS, but because of it's far superior integer and branch prediction performance. Xenon and Cell are underpowered chips for managing a computing system beyond video games. Modern x86 CPUs (even 2 year old Athlon II x4s) really just slap either the Xenon or Cell in workloads involving involving running script and orchestrating a game, such as with AI. Yes, they are competitive in GFLOPS to a degree, but of course Cell loses one of it's 7 enabled SPEs to the OS as well as possibly another one or two to joint rendering with the RSX.
TC, you being terrible at games does not mean everyone is terrible at games. Normal, non crippled people can game on consoles just fine.

Casualized wouldn't be my term. More like "consolized". There are plenty of casualized and hardcore features in the game. For example, sniping weapons are overly damn powerful in BF3, but the ballistic arch effect is much more in play (it almost seems too pronounced), and of course the snipers have the "shine" on their scope to make them easily spotted. BF3's tighter accuracy on all the weapons is completely necessary since BF2's was way too loose and compromised attack and maneuver tactics with the machine guns. At least you can now shoot them while standing up and hope to hit something. I just hate how BF3's machine guns feel gimped in their damage delivery at long range. Takes literally 5 shots to kill a sniper 400m away, when he can still kill you in two shots with a 7.62mm sniping weapon. That is lame, though at least you can pound him with suppressive fire.[QUOTE="lowe0"]So here's a fun question: I have a triple monitor setup. I'd certainly consider the bugs in multi-monitor support to have impacted my enjoyment of the game more than the things being complained about have, to say nothing of games where it's flat-out broken (Skyrim) or absent entirely (MW3). Likewise, there are other features not present in the PC version that I really miss, such as integrated voice or DICE-operated servers. Everyone has their own preferences and priorities, but it's ridiculous to expect a project with a budget the size of Battlefield's to compromise their ability to sell to a large market to meet any market segment's preferences.bu bu bu kdr and posting on forums is teh most important thing in mi life :cry:Or most people don't take gaming that seriously and play for fun in their down time inbetween living their lives.

I don't see PC gaming ever getting fantastic games like vanquish, forza (which has vehicles and car sounds even iRacing and Project CARS could not get such as the one-77, the 2013 SRT viper and the 2012 Jaguar XJRS), Red dead, Uncharted (storytelling at its finest) , Metal gear solid 3/4 (2 of which are some of the greatest games ever created....on consoles), Gears (the finest TPS mp out there), Ratchet and clank and Mario (the greatest platformers EVER). God of war and Ninja gaiden (Action game series' which will never come to the PC), Super street fighter 4 , Mortal Kombat and this list would continue forever. And yet the proof you post is your own demise. NINE out of 15 AAA games are RTS's , and really the burning crusade and wrath of the lich king? Even I played those piles of trash for years before I realised it was copy and paste PvE followed by a game which could only be fun with hardcore endgame guilds. Witcher 2 gained a higher Meta on 360 than it did on PC. LOL @ the sims 3 being one of the PC's best. Again more than 3/4 of the AA titles of the PC are simply RTS's. LOL again at cata being there, plus football manager. Minecraft and terrarria are just 2d and 3d versions of the same thing. The PC has little variation in games and will never beat console franchises. Its a fact.
I have a super fun time playing BF3 on my 360 (come at me hermits). The problem is the rent-a-server thing because of the damn price.

Welcome to dedicated servers.
PC gamers have been paying for them for 20 years.
Unlike P2P, dedicated servers require external hardware. It's pretty awesome that console players can even have their own servers. That's a huge benifit of PC gaming that has been brought to the consoles.
