If I could make a poll right now, these would be the options:
- Spore
- Halo 3
- Assassin's Creed
- Fable
- Enter the Matrix

Fail.
Throw Haze, Too Human or Lair into the mix and you might have a decent list.
Did you pick those randomly? Where's Lair? It was hyped AA or AAA (I wasn't here at the time, so I don't know which) and it got a 4.5. That's lower than Spore, even, which was only a discrepancy of two points (hyped as 10 and got an 8.0).
For that matter, what about Too Human? Hyped AA-AAA and scored 5.5.
BioShock, Twilight Princess and Killzone. All three were going to usher in the second coming of Christ and were "guaranteed" AAAA ratings. They fell so short, even knowing they didn't meet their intended goals and hype was disappointing.foxhound_foxThank you for saying Twilight Princess. And the less said about Killzone, the better, LOL(they're decent games, but not great ones).

Yeah, I was, actually, but I'd much rather play a polished and well-designed "rehash" than a derivative, buggy misfire of a shooter.

I was responding to mitu's comment that they were both decent but not great games.

this man speaks well written words ^BioShock, Twilight Princess and Killzone. All three were going to usher in the second coming of Christ and were "guaranteed" AAAA ratings. They fell so short, even knowing they didn't meet their intended goals and hype was disappointing.foxhound_foxNo way. TP was officially hyped AAA, not AAAA and it barely missed the consensus. Games like Lair, Haze, and Too Human were hyped even more and fell through the floor while the games you listed mostly had good or even great scores.

His list would be complete if he had these three in them.
All time DeusEx:Invisible War (it's the eternal symbol of "dumbed down/xboxed" aftera) or Lords of Mightnight 3
this gen? Combat Mission:Shockforce
Twilight Princess was just as good as I expected it to be. Nobody in their right mind expected it to top OoT.Menalque2Everyone wanted it to though.
Daikatana
I wouldn't agree with Halo 3, TP or any other high rated games, even if they didn't exactly meet expectations.
From this gen, Too Human was a complete and utter flopping failure.Floppy_JimI enjoyed playing this flop, though :)

Agreed, those games were awesome. No sarcasm intended, for all of the idiots out there.

Why is Halo 3 up there? It met it AAA hype and sold very well. You can't say something is a failure because you can't play it on the PS3.
Daikatana Juggernaut140
Yup, Nothing can top the failure that is Daikatana. The amount of hype that went into that game and what came out made it a giga-flop.

I'd leave out Halo 3 if I were you. It seemed to live up pretty well.If I could make a poll right now, these would be the options:
