Biggest hype-failure ever?

I find it hilarious that people mentioning halo 3 in there list cant really explain why :roll:Gh0st_Of_0nyx

That's how I felt when I played the game, too. When it came out it was already a year old, and the extra dungeons that Nintendo threw in were kind of a drag IMO. They delayed it for a year even though it was done, just so they could put it on Wii. I mean, WTF? If Nintendo had released it when they were supposed to, I probably would have loved it, but as it was Nintendo released a somewhat uneven feeling experience that already felt old by the time it came out. It was a good game, but in terms of Zelda's legacy it didn't really do much to stand out at all.

As a gamer, Oblivion had a way bigger impact on me. Nintendo should have just released Zelda TP when it was finished as a Gamecube exclusive, and then developed a new game for Wii's flagship title. If TP had been a shorter, more tightly knit experience that was released when I was still excited for it, I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

To those saying Bioshock failed, how is it a flop? The game was AAA here and has a ratio of 95 on GR and was well recieved by many ppl.

No way. TP was officially hyped AAA, not AAAA and it barely missed the consensus. Games like Lair, Haze, and Too Human were hyped even more and fell through the floor while the games you listed mostly had good or even great scores.Bigboi500

I know hating on Halo 3 is the done-cool-thing around here; but how can you possibly argue that it was a hype failure? It got AAA reviews, sold by the shed-load and is the most played game on live. :| The hating on halo is so generic these days it often doesn't even make sense. Ninja-Hippo

Thats becuase u have to play as a character who looks like a girl, and NOT as Snake, but every1 got used to the story and layout and loved it all the way through

Game wise nothing gets close to the original Killzone, although Haze and Lair made a damn good attempt.

PSP, it didn't fail. Because to stand up to Nintendo in the Handheld market has been seen as fail many times, they managed to stand, but not move their feet. It failed at is goal which was be the last trump card to Nintendo in the handheld market and was supposed to take the handheld market from Nintendo. ULTRA Hype Falure.

But how can anyone consider PS3 a flop? PS3 was just buildup off of the extraordinary PS2 and PS1 sales. Who wouldn't hype it? I love my PS3

BioShock, Twilight Princess and Killzone. All three were going to usher in the second coming of Christ and were "guaranteed" AAAA ratings. They fell so short, even knowing they didn't meet their intended goals and hype was disappointing.foxhound_fox
