Poll Biggest L for Xbox One? (74 votes)

TV. TV. TV. 23%
Scalebound and Fable Cancellation 36%
Kinect 2.0 43%
The Cloud 18%
No Exclusives 51%
Xbox One X losing NPD 24%
PUBG 4fps 20%

Now the Xbox One has had some epic losses this generation. Which one was the most epic to you? I have to go with the Xbox One X. An over hyped, overrated and overpriced console with no exclusives, doesn't deliver what MS promised (4K, 60fps none compromised ROFL...Nope!), games have major frame-rate drops with screen tear (as proven by digital foundry) and the biggest failure of all it did NOT win NPD. No console in history has lost this bad since the Sega Dreamcast and that was a better console than the Xbox One.

Fable was garbage. If anyone played the beta it was so painfully obvious that the game was in a terrible state. That fumble was Lionhead and their slow progress on the game development. I don't know what the hell they were doing behind the scenes.

I was in the Fable Legends beta. I didn't find it to be garbage. I just didn't care for what they were doing with the assets. 4v1 was stupid. Lionhead was fully owned by MS. So MS takes the hit for the fumble. Now Scalebound? Half of the blame their is on Platinum. Funny thing is, pull up the E3 205 and 2016 threads and people hated Scalebound. Then it got cancelled and it was a sin against the Vatican somehow. Bunch of babybackballbaggers

The 4 v 1 was not a bad idea and it was a very strong concept but the execution was terrible. The game ran poorly and was plagued with all sorts of issues in closed beta. The updates were sparse and the loading times were beyond terrible. Regardless of what was requested from the upper management the state of the game was entirely the fault of Lionhead.

Scalebound looked promising outside the main character which was awful but it is true that there was a bandwagon of hate for the game until MS canned it all of a sudden "It was the Xbox game I was looking forward to playing" bullshit. If Crackdown is canned tomorrow the same naysayers would be lying about their supposed interest in the game.

So many Ls with Xbone I dunno where to start.

-TV TV TV water cooler

-Online DRM/ no used game fiasco.

-Kinect 2.0

-More expensive but weaker tech with OG Xbone

-Failbound, Fable, etc. getting cancelled

-Exclusives flopping left and right

-Getting dominated in NPD in its home country despite XboneX launch and having the cheapest console around with the XboneS.

- Having no true exclusives

-Having a joke of a 2018 lineup with garbage like Crackhead 3.

-PUBG 12fps.

As you can see, books can be written about the failures of the Xbone. I’ve never seen a company try so hard to fail as I’ve seen with MS and the Xbone.

I think Scalebound was the biggest game for xbox this generation. All of a sudden?

Hey guys, I don't know why you act like the cancellation of Scalebound was some made up fanboy type of phenomenon but the impact of the cancellation of that game was a tremendous blow to the xbox fanbase whether your think so or not.

Honestly it's reveal. The Xbox One is a great device but it's presentation on stage was a disaster that still hurts them to this day.

That game being cancelled was a really big L. Another big L was cancelling the new Fable game. A surprising L was E3 2013. What were they thinking when they made the Xbox One always online?

LMAO first, how in the actual fvck is a new IP a bigger game A) if it never came out; B) then an established, household name like Halo? So what you're saying is, Horizon Zero dawn was a bigger game for PS4 than Uncharted 4? That's stupid.

Second, neither of us are saying the cancellation had NO impact. What we are discussing is being frequenters of this particular forum. On this forum there have been haters of Scalebound since E3 2014 but suddenly the same posters were all in phony outrage when the game got cancelled. That is what we are referring to. Here is the E3 2016 thread from SW. See some of the Scalebound hate in it. https://www.gamespot.com/forums/system-wars-314159282/the-xbox-one-e3-press-conference-thread-tu-33224671/

No exclusives is leading. Not surprising. Funny how they saw exclusives don't matter, but they are buying PUBG even though its on PC too and will go to PS4. Hypocrites.

Please don't use the age nonsense on me to justify shit load times. Fable Legend load times was a HUGE problem among other things. 4-5 minutes to load a match is utter garbage regardless whether or not the game was completed. Its even longer just loading the game. It was so bad that they had a message at the base of the loading screen saying that this may take several minutes. The game was a mess, the production was stupid slow and its cancellation would have come as no surprised to anyone that played the beta. The game was in a significantly worse state than the first version FFXIV and that game needed to be remade from the ground up and cost Square Enix millions to repair the reputation of the game.

The initial reveal easily. It's like how do you fail so bad coming off of a great console like the 360? Hire a guy like Don Mattrick I suppose.

Personally though, Scalebound. I was gonna buy an Xbone for that game. None of the other fanboy talking points concern me, I'll buy any POS console if it has exclusives I'm interested in and Scalebound would've sealed the deal for me.

First, I didn't use anything. I shared a character trait of mine. You don't like it? Sorry, but I don't care if I am liked on SW.

Second I never waited that long to get into a Fable Legends match. I was in it from the week they opened it. If you cant believe that, see above^. You're complaining about the state of fable Legends as if it was in Game preview where it costs money to access. It was free. Nobody had to buy the microtransactions in it, but if they did, they were refunded.

Agreed somewhat. MSFT repeatedly stated they wanted to be the center of the living room. Well they learned that people don't want them to decide that. My X1X is the entertainment hub in my apartment but I make that choice. I find it funny that people went crazy over the always online thing. My consoles have been always online since Live launched. Give me a break with the internet cares about sailors in submarines being able to play games on their console. MS shit the bed, period.

Scalebound hurt the most for me. At the time, I was doing most of my gaming on Wii U and Xbox One. My PC was showing serious age and couldn't handle multi-platform titles like it used to, so the Xbox One was my go-to platform for many games. I am a big fan of Hideki Kamiya (and loved his games on Wii U). Scalebound was going to be a big deal for me. I was really disappointed when I heard it was canceled. I hope it resurfaces at some point. I would have liked to play it.

You used age to justify shitty load times.

You are now diverting from the fact the game was in a garbage state and the load times were horrendous. Even the developers acknowledge how bad it was to the point where its part of the loading screen. "Game is loading it will take several MINUTES." The conversation was about WHY I am not surprised that MS cancelled and closed Lionhead and that's because the game was in a shit state. You need to accept the reality that the game had issues and thus the reason it was cancelled. Why you are taking this personal is bewildering?

Come on man, MS fucked up this gen and unlike MS, Sony has plenty of exclusives. Wouldn't keep my PRO around if that wasn't the case, of course I'd play all games on mah X.

I didn't say MS didn't mess up, at least at the start of the gen. They did manage to turn it around though, at least IMO. Although exclusives make up a small percentage to the overall library, I'm just messing with him.

The only problem with 1 minute load times on a game like bloodborne is that you die like 20 times per hour, which means 20 minutes of load time per hour, which equates to 1/3rd of the hour.

Top that off with the fact that many people die much more often than that and then it becomes ridiculously frustrating playing the waiting game. Any game with that difficulty level should have a better way to reload in a fraction of the time, maybe by not fully reloading all world assets after each death, or some other caching methods, who knows, but it's too long for that kind of game.

Yeah I think it was less about what they were saying, and more about how they said it tbh. None of these companies are looking out for our best interests, but at least they try to lube you up before going in. Don Mattrick and crew didn't exactly have a silver tongue about these things.

They also took the kind of shit that would usually be tucked away in fine print and put it on blast.

Was really just some poor messaging all around. They could have had the same hardware with the same vision and made it smell like roses, but yeah, they fvcked up lol.

I'm sure MS learned a big lesson from that, just as Sony learned some hard lessons with the PS3. I'm betting MS will have everything planned down to the smallest detail for their next console reveal.

-

Agreed on the always online bit. That's just modern gaming really. Consoles/PCs and the internet are becoming increasingly intertwined. And I'd wager that the vast majority of people who play video games have a consistent internet connection. Having internet is about as common as having utilities in developed countries. Of course I'd never want to see my single player games arbitrarily locked behind an internet connection, but on the whole it seems a lot of people were freaking out over something that won't effect them either way.

@cainetao11: like Battlefront 2 lootboxes. All the lootbox QQ made me buy the game when it was on sale just to see if the whining was justified. It wasn’t. I unlocked the last hero last night after 15 hours of gameplay.

The heroes vs villains mode is actually the best part of the game worth the buy.

Also, after the movie released I noticed a huge surge in new players in my matches. Gamers are hypocrites.

@oflow: Well to be fair the unlocking of heroes was adjusted by EA due to backlash weeks ago. It isn't the same as it launched im told. When did you buy it?

But yes, gamers are human beings and that means they are capable of being shitty just like any other. That guy at the VGAs had a point. Publishers fvck up. We all fvck up in life. People are so quick with the judges gavel but none of us want to be judged harshly for our own shit.

@cainetao11: I got it right before they adjusted it. Even the old system wasn’t a big deal unless you are totally terrible and finish last every game.

I’m average skill usually finish in the middle. People in the top get twice as much xp as I do so I know it took them less time even on the old system.

Most of the drama to me stemmedfrom people saying it would take $1000 to buy everything which probably true but you don’t have to buy it. It’s not mandatory to have every cosmetic and every emote and was never something they promised.

I get EA is greedy yada yada. Not saying they aren’t. But this whole new slap n da face thing with gamers wanting to protest everything til they get their way is kinda lame.

Nerfs ruin games especially MP games. Catering to the people that cry the loudest is bad business.

I could see if they made it so you had to pay to play Vader, but that’s not the case on any of it.

Well that makes 3 people I know tell me that the xp system wasn't as bad as it was blown up to be. I've said it multiple times, a vocal portion of the gaming community have a serious self entitlement problem. They throw around the term greed as if they are all living life like Mother Theresa, self sacrificing saints. I am guilty of being greedy in life at times. I have lied, stolen, been extremely violent and a womanizer. There are so many terrible things done by corporations on this planet but some how EA gets voted worst? They're in the business of fvcking video games! It isn't that serious.

The biggest L was the console releasing in the first place. Xbox One motto: Born a loser, die a loser.
