meh never liked the first one. I didnt like the fact that it could never figure out if it wanted to be a shooter or not. That really bugs me. plus the design was just boring and drab. I know that is how bioshock was suppose to be but i just could not stand rapture.

Yep I was thinking the same. You can say what you want about bioshock, but to criticise it from a design perspective is absurd imo.Its been almost universally praised for its distinct and atmospheric art-deco look.
[QUOTE="njean777"]boring design? :| That is so what came to mind when I first read that post. i didnt only criticise it from its design i also said it couldnt figure out if it wanted to be a shooter or not. The gameplay was lame IMO. Bad shooting, enemies were boring, plasmids were meh.
Gameplay is very important to me and Bioshock failed.
Not that impressed from this gameplay video. I'm not crazy about playing as a Big Daddy. Seems kinda lame.carljohnson3456My thoughts exactly... playing as a big daddy is... not as fun as taking them down... I just don't know where they are going to go with this game...

Your main gripe was the design though.I think its absurd someone could criticize it on that front. But you're entitled to your opinion.
And yes I do agree the gameplay was underwhelming for me.Though it feels as if you have alot of dislike for the game.

Wow you're pretty harsh. For Bioshock to win all of these GotY honors and awards, the gameplay, design, and overall experience must not be too bad.... Oh well it's all opinion anyway...your's is just very different from most others when it comes to Bioshock.[QUOTE="carljohnson3456"]Not that impressed from this gameplay video. Unless I'm missing something about this "play as Big Daddy" thing... it was fun when you were placed in the shoes of an ordinary human wondering down the halls of Rapture. I dont want to play as one of the guys that made the first game so freaky at times.
well you should see my problems with GTA4 that game won many game of the year awards and i absolutely hated that game to. I dont hate a game because it is popular but games like Bioshock and GTA imo did not deserve game of the year awards. that is just my opinion of course.

I agree that GTA 4 shouldn't have won GotY. That game was good, but definitely not a 10And btw, Bioshock wasn't a game built mainly around gun play, enemies, difficulty etc. Bioshock's main component was it's great story. I agree that the gun play is kind of underwhelming, and the combat felt a bit awkward, but what made the game so enjoyable was the story, the great voice acting, and tremendous atmoshpere (i thought it was great)_Brennan_
well theres my problem you just said why i hated it. if you can make such a good story why skip out on the good gameplay????? That pisses me off that it had a good story but the gameplay just killed it for me.
Also as i said before the atmosphere was just boring to me also.

thats like saying mirrors edge was terrible by FPS standards. Just because it's in First person perspective doesn't mean it has to follow some standards you believe exist. I loved Bioshock for the story, gameplay, and the world it created. But we're all entitled to our own....My thoughts exactly... playing as a big daddy is... not as fun as taking them down... Well B. daddies weren't even all that "freaky" to begin with and it's usually great to play as something else other than a normal human and we get to fight the brand new Big sis. which would be the same.

no it was pretty bad by standards of a normal fps.
If the 'normal' standard of a FPS means pure military and stuff with fighting terroritsts/aliens with guns that have no weight to them, then I think its the standard thats getting bland.
Bioshock is considered a 'hybrid' between RPG and FPS, similar to fallout 3. Those games are quite refresshing and innovative imo.
i agree with that, back in bioshock original everything seemed so original and fresh! now that looks more like a DLC instead of a sequel. No improvement there. This game looks outdated graphically. Looks just like the first one with a little more action. It looks like they are using the unrealengine again . The game would look amazing on the killzone 2 engine. Oh well so much for dreaming. Damn unreal engine

Well, it's not a typical run and gun COD type FPS. I found it to be a very good game, but I can see where those expecting a typical FPS experience would be disappointed. The first game was trash, I actually threw it away after killing Ryan it was such a letdown in the gameplay department. I won't even give the second one a look, not worth my time.

To all those saying that because it's not a regular FPS it shoulnd't be criticised for poor gunplay:
Oblivion is a new generation action-adventure Elder Scrolls game. At some point, The Elder Scrolls games were leading role-playing games that pushed the genre forward, but action games traditionally sell more, which explains several attempts to jump on that bandwagon. Battlespire sucked, but it's finally been decided that it sucked not because the design was bad, but because it was sold as an action game. At that pivotal moment the design for Oblivion was born: an action game for casual gamers sold as an RPG! Brilliant! Why brilliant? Well, any complaints about the action elements would be met with "It's an RPG! Duh!", while any complaints about the RPG elements would be met with "It's not your grandpa's RPG with die rolls and skill checks. It's an action game! For next generation! Duh!"
Now replace Oblivion with BioShock and Elder Scrolls with the two System Shock games.
you arent one of the normal big daddies that you saw in the first one, but are the prototype of all big daddies. as such, you are smaller in size, more slender, and are able to use plasmids and a variety of weapons. they talked all about it in the preview in game informer i think. it really works out well if you read the preview. The game looks really good, though I'm not too keen on playing as a big daddy.
