Bioshock AAAA?

i second that, i really believe that Bioshock will be the first game to secure an AAAA rating thanks to the generous new system, which i myself find very fitting for such an awesome game :)

Very unlikely.

Its really hard to gauge with the new system. The new rating seems really generous, but how willing will the reviewer be to giving it a perfect 10? AAA seems very likely though. A solid FPS/RPG hybrid that has heavy focus on single player will do well. If the game doesn't have any significant flaws and has both great replay value and good single player... AAA.

I mean hell The Darkness got 8.5. First off, the score is pretty much spot on. Thing is the game is short and has almost no replay value(to me) and the multiplayer sucks. Not to mention the controls were sluggish and the gameplay was clunky. Still managed an 8.5. I think Bioshock will definately get AAA.

On the old system, I could see this getting a 9.6 (which isn't too far-fetched). Translating that to the new system, it would get a 10.

Having said that, if there's anything slightly wrong with the game, Gamespot can't really justify hadning out a perfect score...so I'm guessing 9.5.

Either way, I've pre-ordered the Collector's Edition, so I'm getting it regardless of what it scores here.

no...9.6 or 9.7 still becomes 9.5. Simple maths. So it would have to get 9.8 or higher by the old system to get a 10 in the new one. And even then, it would be difficult to get AAAA. If the reviewer gives a score of 8.9, they will round it up to 9 for the new system, probably without even thinking about it. However if they want to give the game a 9.9, they would definitely stop and think before handing out a 10 seeing as GS is known for only giving 10s to a few select games. More than likely, if the reviewer had any doubts about the game's perfectness, they would round even a 9.9 score down to 9.5.

Bioshock has no chance of getting AAAA. The discussion should be over whether it will even get AAA. Don't get me wrong, I am SUPER hyped for Bioshock, but an 8.5 with lots of positive medals would not surprise me in the least.

That depends on whether or not they'd just round up the scores.

It will be a great game regardless of its review score, that's all I care about.

SystemShock 2 only got an 8.5 and Dues Ex only got a 8.2, I really doubt it Bioshock will get a 10. GS doesn't seem to rate games like these high.trix5817

Bioshock is more of a shooter than the aforementioned games, thus, it has better mass critical appeal. It also lacks many of the issues that made SS2 unwieldy, like weapon degradation and poor graphics.

It won best game of E3 06 ... I doubt it will repeat again for 07, same with Crysis and best graphic award.

No game can ever get a AAAA grade anymore, the way people over hype everything these day, makes that impossible.
