Bioshock doesn't look as good on PS3...

Hey guys,

First, I want to thank you for the acute attention to detail and the Spartan level of expectation our most devoted BioShock fans hold us to, and how excited you are and attentive to the BioShock PS3 demo. When we saw a post asking about issues found in the demo, we jumped on it immediately. And you know what, you're right. The texture in the PS3 demo of the downed Big Daddy does not match our level of quality either. This slipped by. We admit it. However, I want to assure you that this is an exception, and not a rule, and while I regret this oversight, we put a lot of love into making this game look amazing for the PS3 and I'm sure that when you play the rest of the demo you will agree that the textures are not all like this one instance.

As for the other issues and concerns, we are currently diligently working to replicate any bugs, and will report back to you with what we find. Thank you for your vigilance here and moving forward.2k Elizabeth

So it is true that the PS3's version isn't graphically superior as the 360 version. Although it might just be the downed Big Daddy, the rest could potentially look equal.

Oh well, was thinking about getting this game but I doubt it now~

Uh it's not just graphics. To be honest this felt like a rushed port.

U may change superior with ''on par'' because the superior version is the pc version,but anyways what a shame the game looks worse and runs with crippled framerates,and below 720p...MojondeVACA

Well, i'ld say gameplay matters, but so does graphics. This is the PS3 not the wii. If graphics didn't matter, i'lll still be playing my ps2/xbox/gc!

Tbh Sony lovers had this drama coming, they sit about all day bragging about supreme graphics and uber CELL powahs and when it doesn't deliver (and it never does) they look rather silly, only fair we rub it in.

After playing the demo, I'm glad that I played the 360 version first. Bioshock confirms pretty much what I already knew, FPS games are not the PS3's controller's strength. And while it has no bearing on the gameplay, the game is a jaggied mess.

That being said, it's fortunate that all of the fixes have been put into this version. If you haven't played Bioshock and you have a PS3, then get it, it's a great game set in a fantastic environment. I'm not particualry impressed with the port, but it is just that, a port.

I don't know, but anyone with a 360 can tell you that that's exactly what the Big Daddy looks like in the 360 version, and that's why there wasn't an uproar over it. It wasn't even just the Big Daddy in the PS3 version that ticked me off, though. The framerate wasn't as stable as in the 360 version. One may not notice this without playing both, though. Also, the white borders during some cutscene parts were messy. Also, there was a lot more aliasing in the PS3 version.

Actually 2k games did say that the pixelated version was for the Xbox360 while the PS3 has the sharper version.IvyCassandra

Really I played both version. The Xbox360 version looks like a last gen game.

While the PS3 version looks like it could of came from a high end PC computer, with 8xAA and 16XAF. I guess you need to get your eyes checked. 2k games said the 360 version used the inferior version of texture filtering for the 360 wich is bilinear. PS3 gets animostripic filtering wich makes the textures sharper.

I think I'll take 2ks word over yours.

Indeed. I'm amazed by how many people are dishonest just because they favor a console. :( I was ready to buy this for PS3, but they're not getting my money after that demo, unless the majority of reviews say its a technical beast and better than the 360 version. If it stays inferior, then I'll wait and pick it up on the cheap for the challenge rooms.

I almost don't think the PS3 version demo was THAT bad. I mean I've played it on PC before and it's not like a night and day difference. That being said, I think I would buy Bioshock since I've never played more than just a demo and it was actually pretty fun. I'll see what the reviews say since there's plenty of games I'll be picking up this month.
