Bioshock sucked. Deserved a 7-8. Gameplay was good, but story was well boring, infact, the only story was that a plane crashed and u ended up on sum underground city.

Good story, I wouldn't say better after playing both I think they are both great...
Character devolpment.. No Bioshock doesn't have any.. You get adam not matter which choice you go, there are only a few plasmids and genetonics worth having.. You do not really get more powerful in a sense..
Better enviroment.. No I disagree theya re both great enviroments...
Also add in Half-Life 2 just does not have a great single player experience, it has numerous NUMEROUS multiplayer mods such as Day of Defeat, Counter Strike, Team Fortress 2, as well as many many many other ones.. IT has one of the best mod communities out there.. I am sorry Bioshock can not compete with this..
In the end I think the single player are even.. Though I tend to like the Half-Life 2 story way more, Bioshocks ending was rancid beyond belief.. a 30 second cut scene on either becoming a good guy or a bad guy.. WoW what decision making, I could have figured the ending easilly with out even playing th egame..
In the end Bioshock imo is some what of a disapointment.. I blame this mainly due to it being dumbed down for console.. It in no way is as diverse, as difficult and as interesting as System Shock 2 was.

If you understood the story, you'd know that it was told through casette tapes and radio transmissions ( a lot like System Shock 2) and not through cut scenes.
I totally agree with you, its what i have always been saying. Bioshock destroys Half-life 2 in terms of story, gameplay, innovation and graphics. Its true that Bioshock has no online but HL2's MP is lame (im not talking about CSS but HL2 MP) so it doesnt have any significant advantage over Bioshock there.
However HL2:TOB is a wiser purchase than Bioshock, It contains much more hours of gameplay (HL2, Episode 1 and Episode 2 not to mention Portal and TF2)

Yes, take CSS out of the equation so you can feel good about giving Bioshock the crown.

Seeing as HL2 has usually always been sold with Counterstrike, day of defeat, and TF2, I would tend to think these are the exact same multiplayers and can be included.. After all I bought Hl2 with CSS and DOD with silver pack which was full price of the game.. And I bought the orange box with Team Fortress 2.. I would think HL2's multiplayer = HL2DM, CSS, TF2, and DOD.. Not to mention the NUMEROUS third party mods that are free coming out every month.. SOme spectacular.

which sucked IMHO. Its just laziness. The opening movie with the plane wasnt even spectacular. The actual CGI movie before you pressed the "start" button was way more entertaining than the whole game itself.
I don't understand why people say it is good because it had a cool atmosphere and story.
Presentation DOESN'T make a game the actual GAME does. And by a GAMEPLAY standpoint Bioshock is just above-average at best.
And by that Half-Life 1 and 2 destorys Bioshock in every way imagineable.

Half-Life 2 is just the overall better game.
If you really think Bioshock provides a good atmosphere and story, then clearly you've either seen very few movies or just mainstream garbage like Transformers and other things.
I laugh at people who think Bioshock is innovative.

Bioshock isn't innovative at all. It's nothing but Half-Life 2 with Plasmids, but in a ship and worse of everything. People often praise it for being a step in interactivity like "you're part of the game". Hell I've played way better games with interaction. I beat Deus Ex for the first time right before playing Bioshock and that was way more interactive and indepth then Bioshock ever was at any point (it also was just a way better game too).

My thougths exactly. I feel that games in the past didn't get the recognition they deserve. When I see Bioshock so amongst the highest scoring games on Gamerankings and than look at what Deus Ex and System Shock 2 got. I really feel that these days games are receiving way to many bloated scores.
I think even putting aside the fact that Half-Life 2 is a three year old engine (2004), I think it holds its own against BioShock easily. Source is one of the most versatile engines we've ever seen, and the way it has been built allows for constant overhauls or virtual duct tape to keep it ahead of the game.
BioShock is a great game, but Half-Life 2 (and everything it stands for) in my mind is just simply the best.

I'm leaning around more along the lines of independent films.

The days of when games were made solely for gameplay are over. Remember when all games had amazing replay value because of their ingenious level design? Remember when "Role Playing" was the main focus of RPG's? Remember when 3D was thought up as interactivity first? Now a days games are based on nothing but appeal and hype.
Lol Bioshock is boring. At least I can stay awake when I play HL2.smokeydabear076
That is mostly due to it's horrid "level-design" (if you could even call it that) and it's errand ran pacing.

Innovation? it was a linear corridor shooter , with "Magical" grenades ..... seriously, it was just a dumbed down version of System Shock 2 ... "Shooter 2.0" ... do you people actually believe this crap?
Half-Life's Story is much better, even the way its presented, the feeling you get while playing, the need to survive in Half-Life was greater than Bioshocks because you pretty much felt dominent from the start ...
Every Enemy in Bioshock was the same just with different HP values ... about 5 different classes of them , the final boss was a joke, I used the wrench after about 50% until right up to the end it was so overpowered (With Reasearch and STR plasmids I could 2 shot MOST splicers ... 1 shot alot aswell).
Half-Life 2 had alot of great animation moments ... Bioshock has terrible animations and TERRIBLE character models, yea ok its "suppose" to be a style but when you are being spoken too by the "Little Sister Carer - fergotten her name" then you actually see her shes just another godamn female chine-splicer model...
Bioshock ... if any game ... is the most overated FPS of this year.

Same here. I want someone to explain why they think it is innovative.
I havn't played Half Life 1 so I don't know the backstory for 2 so I can't fully appreciate it. However bioshock did have a pretty amazing tale to tell.
I'm playing through Half Life 2 now and aside now that the initial "Wow! I'm using physics!" fascination has run off I'm finding that the actual gameplay is not a godlike as people expressed to me. But so far every level has offered something new to tantilize my imagination. From the gavity gun, to the ravenholm traps to my own personal ant lion army. But to counter that there ar eplenty of parts to the game where I'm just dodging along, killing 4 enemies, walk, kill, walk, kill, walk, kill, and I knowI know this occurs in most every game, but in HL2 it can go on for a while.
Half Life 2 is great, but I'm really dissapointed in it after hearing it called "The greatest FPS of all time" by so many people on this board and many of my friends.
