Bioware has plans for Mass Effect 4

This might not come as a shock to much of you, but hearing about it so early does. Mass Effect 3 was released in March this year totremendousacclaim and sales (and a lot of controversy), and the team is already working on a new Mass Effect game. Not just DLCs, a full new game in the series.

Aaryn Flynn said this in his letter on the BioWare blog after he talked about the retirement ofDoctors Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, the founders of BioWare, and went on to talk about the companys future.

Executive Producer Casey Hudson and his team are coming off an amazing eight-year run with the Mass Effect trilogy, Flynn wrote. But theyre not done yet. We are releasing more multiplayer content and we have more single-player stories coming throughout the next six months, including Omega which is coming in the Fall.

He then dropped some really momentous news. But the Mass Effect universe is vast, he continued, and Casey and our teams have plans for another full game. Where to go next? with such a project has been a question a lot of us have been asking, and wed all love to hear your ideas.

Of course, this isnt an official announcement, but its better than something. Well take it.

But what about those new IPs fans have been begging for? Is BioWare just going to milk two franchises from now on?

No. The devs are working on something new as well. Flynn wrote that the teams are working on an all new IP based in an all new world and built on an all new engine, while also reaffirming that a new Mass Effect is being developed.

He said: Both Dragon Age and Mass Effect started as single games but grew into vast universes. But we arent stopping there. While Casey continues to oversee the development of our new Mass Effect project, he and his leads are putting together their vision for an all new game set in a fictional universe, built from the bottom-up with all new gaming technology.

Sounds pretty exciting to me.

Why stop it? ME is the best new series this gen, they just f*cked up the ending to the trilogy.SaltyMeatballs

A few things:

1. Make it an RPG. ME3 went back a little but f*cked up everything with the ending.
2. Let's focus on the Rachni Wars or something similar. There is a huge backdrop in the ME universe.
3. Get rid of the black and white decisions and promote something aki to The Witcher 2. Completely seperate acts based upon decisions.
4. Keep up with the quality of the characters. The ME series nailed the characters.

Omg if they made a detective/mystery game set entirely within the Citadel sometime during or before the trilogy, I would be so happy.

Get rid of Shepard.

Dont make the Reapers the antagonist. They are nearly as bad as the Darkspawn.

Let the player pick a race (even if that means the PC isn't voice acted).

Either make it more of an RPG, or make it a completely different genre (not a f*cking coverbased TPS)...how about a Stealth action game following Thane before the ME timeline or something?

It would pretty much need to be a prequel after the way the Sheppard trilogy ended (which ever colour you chose)

I loved Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 was great expect for that terrible ending. But hey, I'm glad to see the series continue, as long as Shepard's story is over. If they want to focus on some other conflict within the galaxy with new characters, great I'm all for it. But please let Mass Effect 3 be the end of Shepard and the Reapers.

ME is my favourite new IP this gen, but i think is should stay as a trilogy. At least for a few years.

You guys need to stop this pissing and moaning about the game ending. Especially considering that they fixed it with the release of the extended cut.

So if I pick the control end that means there won't be any conflict and therefore no plot to a sequel.

I have to assume this is a prequel or side story or something.

I don't understand why anyone wouldn't like ME3 if they liked the others :? The shooting was better, the RPG elements were better, and the story, except the terrible, "OMGWTF is this?", ending, was on par or better too.

Agreed. Whilst there were letdowns in the series, overall, it was pretty solid.

If they can make it more like ME1 then gimme gimme. If it's more of the same as ME3 then I say leave it be and move on. I don't want another story set in Mass effect's universe. The story was done for me and I don't want to meet new people there or anything like that. I would much rather just the new IP they have planned.

They fixed hardly anything aside from a few plotholes. The starchild crap still exists and a whole host of other problems.

Plotholes and closure were the only things that needed to be fixed. I think the starchild isalso kinda dumb, but I am fine with accepting it as the ending to Mass Effect 3. I am not gonna complain or whine about a new ending that will never be made. Honestly, everyone(including me) looked like a damn idiot complaining about the ending back in March. However, now it's September, and the fact that there are still people complaining about it is just insane. You people need to move on with your lives or go play something else if it REALLY bothers you that much.

Yes and if it was left alone it would stay that way but putting out a fourth one is a bit too much and it won't sit well with the other 3. It won't have the same impact. Sometimes too much of a good thing can ruin it.

Take Shadow of the Colossus for example. I hold that game in the highest regard and would love to play more in that world BUT I also know that it would ruin the novelty of the game. Sometimes things are just best left alone.
