[QUOTE="DarkLink77"][QUOTE="funsohng"]hey screw you whiners and haters, I loved DA2.funsohng
It's cool that you're happy with a sequel that is pretty widely considered to be worse in just about every way, even critically and commercially. Some of us, however, aren't. :P

I admit I played DA2 before DAO, but I really liked the fact they made warrior class at least fun enough to play. I finished DAO as mage, I'm just wondering how the hell will anyone be having fun with any other class.... All DA2 was missing was few cities and great looking locales, around 50 missing unique dungeons and creatures, and Alistair. The combat, for me, was a step forward and backward at the same time.

Glad you didn't take that too seriously. :P But yeah, DA2 is playable, and I like many of the changes the made to the classes. I also preferred the way the new talent trees worked. As for the combat, I liked some of the changes, but it felt like it wanted to be too fast-paced for it's own good. I could've done without the exploding enemies, too. And I missed Origins' executions.

[QUOTE="charizard1605"] Yeah, Origins had an incredible artstyIe, but the technical aspects could have been made better.DarkLink77

I simply do not understand the love for Origin's artstyle. Not saying DA2 had it better, but at least it was trying to change. DAO's art style was either generic at best or ugly at worst. I admit I was captivated at first with Ostagar bridge... but that happened to be the only cool place.

Eh, some of DA2's changes were better and some were worse. The Darkspawn looked much, much worse in DA2.

You see Darkspawn in three missions in the entire DA2 if I'm not mistaken. One of them is not even a main quest.

Well I'm actually quite concerned about all of them, but whatever :P It really lacked the exploration part, but DAO instead had frequent and often long loading times to the point I just wanted to go through the main quest when I got to Urn of Sacred Ashes. I don't know which was worse. I feel the same way as you do with the combat. I loved beheading dudes in DAO. EDIT: I don't know, it seems that we kinda feel same on what it lacked, but I must be really forgiving gamer. lol.

Oh no. In other words, it's going to become a CG movie. lol. Biowares definition of "fix" has been "remove anything that got a complaint except romance options".

Truth be told, they should revamp their entire Dragon Age team and the policies that went into making it. It was one of the worst examples of a rushed product that could have been miles better if their publisher wasn't so goddamn anxious to make a "quick" buck. I really enjoyed the combat and I liked the characters but everything else was a goddamn joke.

I like to read the summaries and not the whole stories.

The main story itself *is* a summary.

Just so you know, it's still dark text, not good for dark GS background :P

As long as Laidlaw is still in charge of the franchise I wouldn't keep my hopes up. He was the one who thought that recycling was not a big deal.

Nice to see they are listening to fans.

Was Dragon Age2 as good as Origins? Hell no.

Was it a bad game? I dont think so, I actually enjoyed it.

I think if they took the best parts from Origins and the best parts from DA2 and scrapped the bad things DA3 could be masterpeice.

Nice to see them take the critisim well though, its nice to see.

Really the main thing that kileld DA2 for me was the REUSE of environments (also less rpg elements and less loot was kinda crappy). I thought the story was well done as was the combat.

They just need to fix the things that didnt work for the next game and also EA needs to give Bioware more time to work on the game. Time factor was probably the biggest issue for the re-use of environments.

That's like saying Witcher 2 combat is click click click. There is more to it, and there is more to DA2 even though I have only played the demo.

You're right, it did have a couple spells for the mages, but the warrior seemed to lacksome of the cooler feats from DA:O. The animations made the combat seem cool ... For about 5 minutes.

It just plays likea button basher, and even on the higher difficulties feels less of an RPG and more of a crap God Of War

The thing is that those faults that I'm reading were in Dragon Age 1. So what do they mean by fixing them? Going back to the standards of the first?--that is if I trully agree with the general consensus of the quality in DA2: I haven't played it yet. My point is that I did enjoy Dragon Age 1, but the game had numerous game breaking flaws that definitely will keep me from getting another sequel in the series unless they fix them. So by fixing them, I hope they mean they'll fix a lot of what was wrong in the series.

Incidentally, the same thing happened to me with Mass Effect. People who might read my posts about the game recently, would come to the conclusion that I loved the first one, the fact is that I didn't love it THAT much at all. My problem is that I found Mass Effect 2 to be a downgrade on quite a few levels to a point where I'm baffled that they couldn't improve on the first one in a few key areas. Apparently my disappointment with the sequal made me appreciate the first one a bit more, maybe that's their strategy... I don't know. But the first had a hell of a lot of flaws that I thought would be addressed in the sequel, instead, they were removed entirely.

Dragon Age 2 just isn't calling me enough unfortunately for me to give it a try. Maybe one of these days.

first one was AAA 92% and incredible, on PC atleast.

second one got a pity AA due to the name alone, and is like 77% on Gamerankings lmao.

Oh, and on PC. In which it was a mouse masher. No, upping the difficulty doesnt help, you still get the same crappy wave enemies, and the same crappy ambushes, which always randomly appear next to your back line of archers/mages.

Impossible to read the text unless you select it or click the link.

Anyways it's good to hear some things will change, but the truth is they said this new direction is intended.

Even if they fix the waves and the recycle of environments, the lack of costumization and the most glaring to me was the lack of a top down view make the game an action rpg more than what i wanted.

So anyways my expectations are alot lower this time so i doubt they can disappoint me, i love how they have a party and alot of interaction between party members and that is the key feature that still gravitates me towards Bioware bue the magic from BG2 is long gone in their games and i'll face it as another fun rpg but who knows...

Here is what I want:

-More locations and more than one cave or building that is reused for the entire game in those locations.

-Better interaction and more fleshed out relationship building, like in Origins.

-Bring back the epic dark fantasy atmosphere.

-Actually continue where Origins left off, so that the first game actually means something. There was no reason for such a departure.

-Allow us to be able to kit out our party members.

Do these things, and I will be happy as can be.

Meh, I wouldn't hold my breath. They might put a bit more effort into it since DA2 was a pretty blatant cash grab and too many of those will severely tarnish and otherwise very positive reputation, but the DA series hasn't been exceptional from the get go. At least the first was pretty darned good, but, simply not great games, either of them.

I haven't played the game so I wouldn't know but I think Dragon Age II may have been more of a "we might as well do it" sequel than a "there's more to this story" sequel. From what I've heard.

I don't understand why they would revert the combat back to Origins. The combat was satisfying and well balanced in DA2.

Riiiiiiiiiight. DA2's sales already blew DAO's away. They're not fixing sh*t.

They didnt say they were making this a new dragon age origins. they said they were fixing the issues of DA2. Dragona age 2 fixed a lot of what was wrong with origins, but had its own problems.

Well, when they made Dragon Age II they were supposedly "fixing" Dragon Age: Origin's problems, so.... Not sure I trust the way they "fix" things. Hopefully they will focus on what is clearly wrong with the game and the core complaints of their fans and not just do whatever they think might make the game better, because they obviously do a better job at building from scratch than they do of improving.

I think DA2 gets a lot of hate that it does not deserve. I do not think it was as good as DAO but it is not the monster it is made out to be on here.

Yep Bioware is going to fix all the problems and make the greatest RPG ever in DA3. I can't wait for it to come out 3 months from now and show everyone here how wrong they are...:D

"I believe that there's also more potential for rich stories, for deeper RPG mechanics, for more choice, and for something even more epic to come. The story events of DA II have fundamentally altered the political and power landscape of Thedas, in a way that's open to intrigue, drama and sweeping conflict in thefuture, and evolves a world that, while still very much involving the Grey Wardens and Darkspawn, is about more than just that one struggle. "

I found this part interesting.

Well, when they made Dragon Age II they were supposedly "fixing" Dragon Age: Origin's problems, so.... Not sure I trust the way they "fix" things. Hopefully they will focus on what is clearly wrong with the game and the core complaints of their fans and not just do whatever they think might make the game better, because they obviously do a better job at building from scratch than they do of improving. when did bioware say they were fixing dragon age:origins problems ? I mean they might have said that at some point because it's a stereotypical thing to say. But all I remember them saying is that they weren't "making the same game twice". They definatly were not giving the impression that they were just improving upon dragon age: origins atleast to me.

Riiiiiiiiiight. DA2's sales already blew DAO's away. They're not fixing sh*t.

i3DS
What? Origins sales are higher at this point in the lifecycle than DA2, and it looks like origins is going to significantly outsell DA2.

People complained about the slow pace of the combat and the generic art style and they said that it was something they were going to address with the second game. And address it they did... a long with everything else in the game including things that didn't need to be changed, fixed, or improved on at all. I like the new look and the faster combat, but they scrapped a lot of great stuff and bastardized a few things here and there in the process of "fixing" it.

Its like when fans complained about how poorly the Mako handled and we get planet scanning... wow... such a step up there, Bioware.
