I honestly don't think anyone likes bioware anymore, casuals or elitists.....

[QUOTE="DarkLink77"][QUOTE="jg4xchamp"] Pfft I haven't seen one. jg4xchampHe does praise RE4, Champ. It's possible. Broken clock, Texas doesn't knock Mother 3.
Atleast Shake has some form of personality or at the very least, ...can be "ironically enjoyable"
Where Texas is a humorless one dimensional douchebag who just argues with people over the same sh*t in every thread.
I'd say you have the better deal Padre
Sadly, this was inevitable.
WoW is like the alpha male, dominating a large ammount of subscribers. A lesser male named TORtanic tried to get in on WoW's feeding grounds, it was not pretty. Meanwhile a few kilometers away, Guild Wars 2 is happily grazing on its own fields, sure the beast known as WoW managed to take away some of its fields, but it is still doing fine.
Seriously, tacking on unneeded garbage wont result in a huge success.
WoW delivers the following in spades. Accessability, Popularity, Fluidity, Optimization, Refinement and Trinity Combat. SWTOR has story, but who the **** plays an mmo for story?!?
Funny how people seem to be more amused by the game's failure than the actual game itself.

You know it's bad when Darklink takes time to make a topic on it :P

I await a defense from texas who will praise this move as the second coming of christ
Sounds fairly accurate
What an utter waste of money to make a mediocre MMORPG that could of been used to make a KOTOR3 or some other epic WRPG.

Yeah, I'm sure that's based on a lot.I'm basing this on user reviews from multiples sites (not just MC) of their last 3 games, and noticing they are extraordinaryily low to the point where it mathematically couldn't have been review bombers visiting literally every site and making it go down.Factor that in with the Dr's leaving and ToR getting the worst F2P model ever seen to date........defending Bioware at this piont only proves one is being a fanboy. It's not about bias when all the facts are infront fo you.
How is it not? You pay to have your characters progress in terms of damn near everything. They can't even equip most purple items unless you shell out.How is that pay to win?

I think everyone was waiting for this game to go Pay to Win. Guess they wanted another reason to rag on Bioware.Sadly, this was inevitable.

Yes, because the angry internet people are the voice of everyone who bought the game. You know, the people who didn't like it enough to actually go post a review? You know, the most extreme voices out of everyone? You know, a group that makes no sense as the representation of everyone? Even if most other people were indifferent to the games, it doesn't really represent anything but those people?[QUOTE="SkyRaid"]How is it not? Besides purple items (you know what they are, right?), what is pay to win? Most of it is just limited access to modes. I would say that SWTOR's failure MAY have been a good thing for the mmo industry.
Sure, it is always sad to see a game do badly. But with SWTOR, it may very well have sent a message to other developers that budget alone does not make a good game. And that cloning WoW is not a particulary good idea.
One can hope at least and really, looking at the future, I cant see a single WoW clone in sight. Themeparks, yes. But not all themeparks are WoW clones.

I'll agree here in the fact that pay to win implies the game revolves around players competing against each other in combat...except swtor's pvp is a pile of tripe and most people would rather do flashpoints

I consider Pay to Win when you have to pay to do well in a game. For instance, if your definition of doing well in an MMO is raiding ala WoW, and you had to pay to make that feasible, it's pay to win. Same with PVP. The people who pay have a decided advantage over those that don't. Might not be the best term for TOR, but we'll see.
well, you can't even get access to the raids to begin with in swtor unless you subscribe, so I'm not sure how i see that as a reason to claim pay to win. Perhaps a different term is in need....like "maybe this entire game just failed to deliver on all fronts." :P

What I'd consider that is paying for upgrades to your characters would be pay to win since it makes the game easier to win at anything with your character. This is mostly pay for access to parts of the game. I agree pay to win is definitely not a great term for it. More like limited free to play.

Still, cutting off basic features is a stupid thing to do. How on Earth do they think this will make people want to play? Seems like an okay strategy. It brings in people who want to play it but don't want to pay for a subscription. They put the subscription benefits as high enough above the free to play benefits that those who like the game enough will either pay some extra money for some of that access or go for a subscription.
Its not a bad model. The trick is balancing the free to play and subscription benefits so that free to play isn't barebones enough that it will stop potential players from playing and the subscription is high enough above the free to play that it seems worth it to free to play players to get more access. Time will tell how that balance they chose works.

Why would any1 play this garbage when gw2 is released and is FULLY free to play? SWOTOR looks so damn ugly and  at its combat lol even Skyrim has a better one and that is saying a loooot.silversix_Because GW2 is NOT F2P. GW2 is a non-subscription game that you still have to buy. It is no more F2P than COD is. F2P means you can play the game for free, not that you don't have to pay a subscription fee.

Sad isnt it.
Too see all that talent go to waste because of a few thick headed design choices by a few higher ups. This model wont be doing the game any favors.
