I for one think, that Cryis will be a great game. But nothing new to the FPS scene. In all honesty, Crysis just seems like an nVidia promo game for their graphics cards, nothing else.
So far, I haven't seen anything revolutionary, escept the graphics. But when you have games like Bioshock, Gears Of War, and The Darkness running on Xbox 360 (and PS3) it seems rather irrelevant. Higher resolution does the trick however.
I for one thought GRAW on Xbox 360 was mediocre. But yet every review out there seems to have given it a 9.0+ score, and you know what? I think it's because of its graphics at the time for the Xbox 360.
I fear the same will happen to Crysis. Too much focus on graphics, and not gameplay.
But, what do I know.

Doom 3 strongly disagrees with you.
they say it gets BORING after 15 minutes. he, he..
surely it will be interesting for at least a half hour longer.

Nice job taking that out of context.

Thats what I was thinking. Then they ramp the difficulty to very hard, and comment on how you die so quickly. Woa Revelations!
It was a very good and detailed article. Let's hope that the things mentioned (A.I.) will be cleaned up in the final build, or it might turn out to be an all too easy shooter, with gorgeous graphics. The A.I. greatly concerns me, because Far Cry had some really awesome A.I that I have only seen matched in F.E.A.R. The nano suit might end up ruining the game if it isn't too challenging. They had better have the "realistic" mode option to keep it tough.ChiefFreemanI think that with the overwhelming powers the player has, the A.I. would have been the biggest concern of anyone hoping to get this game. I think any A.I. less sophisticated than FEAR or Halo would have simply made the game too easy and a quick bore.
I've also found that AI is not easy to "clean up". It takes months if not years to develop a decent AI system. It's so complex mathematically. AI is one of those things that can't really change after it's built. Too much goes into it. If it doesn't work well in the end, it may never work well.
All things considered, I'd suspect the GoTY talk for Crysis is over. But I never expected it to be a serious contender anyway.
[QUOTE="JiveT"]Crysis just keeps falling down the downgrade hole. It sounds like they spent too much time on graphics and not enough on gameplay. Meu2k7
Did you read it all? I could say any game on Very Easy is boring ... hence why I always choose normal on a new game.
Normal? dude, if you want a challenge, play Far Cry on realisitc mode. It will have you cursing it's so darn hard. But man, what a challenge![QUOTE="Meu2k7"][QUOTE="JiveT"]Crysis just keeps falling down the downgrade hole. It sounds like they spent too much time on graphics and not enough on gameplay. Why? Because of one article? I guess you've missed all the other articles that said nothing but good things about Crysis, including how impressive that AI is. Not to mention the E3 demo was an Alpha build of the game, so there's going to be many bugs, especially with the AI considering Crysis features a dynamic enviroment that's constantly changing. Read up on how Crysis is dealing with the AI though. The only game that uses a similar technique is The Sims.

I think it's rare that any game that has been received with mixed reviews has won GoTY here. I can't think of the last one that didn't win universal praise. but as you say, I'm not familiar with their Bioshock review. As such, maybe they can be totally disregarded as an anamoly.

A lot of previews say nothing but good things. I mean I remember gamespot's preview of Driv3r, they had no complaints or anything. It would also help if you posted some links to these previews so that people wont say it 'killed the hype'

Crysis hasn't really recieved mixed previews. This is the only negative preview I've read from E3. Everyone else loved it. Remember, this is the same site that sad a lot of bad things about BioShock too.

I think so. We should find out a lot of new info next week, when the Leipzig GC starts. That's where Crytek shows off a lot of cool stuff. E3 isn't that big of an event for them.

It definitely didn't kill any hype for the game but their previews aren't cruddy. So apparently to you, games that are bound to be really good can't recieve any criticism at all. You think there aren't criticisms in games like Gears of War, Resident Evil 4. And that 'cruddy' preview of bioshock didn't criticise it totally.

Ofcourse, the Multiplayer & full story is still oblivious to us ... something Crytek may regret in regards to game hype ... showing us a tech demo no-story area of the first zone is not exactly the smartest move, and mainly the reason CoD4 got more attention.
I think people are hyping gameplay more now, since everyone knows how great crysis graphics are. With a game like crysis there a large amount of game design that can be implemented, then again if it ain't done right it can fall flat on its face. It even says this on the Tom' s Hardware preview
"As with all games that have this potential, it runs the risk of falling down flat on its face."
This preview is pretty lame. "We played it on easy and it was too easy. Then we played it on the hardest difficulty and it was too hard." "Hey, lets also complain about button layout even though it IS CHANGEABLE." This preview sucks. organic_machineOnly play games on medium, they try or beat it on hard. They are morons. Im still getting it.
So in Bioschock the character moved too fast and Crysis was too easy....on easy, and didn't have perfect AI in alpha stage. I'm starting to trust these guys less and less, but then again it's good that some site gives out some critic as well to these overhyped games.EntwineX

Did that last sentence mean that the speed the character moves on the console is great, or it's great that it moves faster than in the console version? Sorry I'm not english so I might understand it wrong. As for the easyness, it seemed to be a problem to them in both games. Perhaps those pre-versions were supposed to be easy, afterall most games get harder towards the end, at least with Farcry it got hellova lot harder once the mutants were introduced, I'd except it follows the same pattern with Crysis when the Aliens come into picture.

yeah..it made it harder because they made the mutants one hit kill you..while the other guys firing bullets at you needed 5 or more shots
huh, i hope its possible to run this game on the new imac since its direct X 10 ready ( not likley but possible)walkerctrangerI think the fastest iMac has HD2600Pro which truth to be told isn't very fast at all, I think it goes somewhere in the same category as 7600GT.
Terrible preview. You know it's a terrible preview when you whine about the fully configurable controls. That's just dumb. That's when you know you're just looking for something to complain about. This is literally the only negative preview I've read on the game. Every other preview has had nothing but glowing things to say about Crysis. Why are you supposed to take a preview seriously when they whine about the open-endedness of the game, even though that's its very nature and its biggest gameplay feature? You're tasked with being on an island killing humans and rampaging aliens. You want to be led down a path? I guess some people do.
Check out Tom's Hardware's Crysis preview. It's much more intelligent and well-written, not because it's positive, but because they actually have a clue.
Console fanboys would love it if Crysis ended up not being a powerhouse GOTY contender, but unfortunately for them despite whatever this site said about Crysis it will surpass everyones expectations and will easily become a household name in the FPS genre and will have an enormous following. MadExponent
All platforms have amazing games, its just fanboys that wont agree with you...;)

No, console fanboys won't look at that article, or all the others saying nothing but good things about Crysis. They'll only take notice of the one bad preview, which has been debunked as is a joke in the first place. Look at the things they were whining about. It's ridiculous. They are complaining about Crysis being and open-ended game......I mean, my god.
