People go out of their way to bash COD here. It's not the best FPS series, and MW2 was a piece of junk, but sometimes I feel posters here try to find any way they possibly can to hate on it.

Upparoom

Fastest way to become percevied as an elitist here = bash Call of Duty or Halo. True story. :P

[QUOTE="Megaman5364"]The scene from Black Ops and the scene from The Deer Hunter are so similiar it's not funny, the vietnamise dude in BO, even yells out Mao when he slaps Woods in the face, and they escape from the POW camp exactly the same way they do in the Deer Hunter and the way it starts off ( them being held underwater in cages ) is exactly what happens in the Deer Hunter also ! GOsh !Megaman5364

No they were not similar. So what the guy said "Mao", that's what they say, the Deer Hunter didn't invent Vietnamese. And the underwater cages were a real thing. And the escape was nothing like deer hunter, AT ALL. There was no Russian guy waiting forthem in deer hunter. There was no log in black ops. And in the deer hunterm de niro made them put in more bullets, in black ops, they just predicted the bullet was in the right place do IDK where you got the same. And no one got beat to death with a pipe in the deer hunter. No guuy took a chunk off his head in black ops. IDK where you're getting that they were so similar. Russian Roulette was an actual thing that happened in Veitnam, the Deer Hunter didn't invent it.

Oh really ? Then how did they escape in the Deer Hunter ? Did they just ask " Sir may I please be excused ? No the Robert De Niro character asked to play roulette with 3 bullets and then he shot the guards and they escaped down the river, Black Ops completely ripped it off.

I think you don't have any idea what the difference is between an homage and a rip-off.

[QUOTE="Ragnarok1051"]

I'd prefer if they fix the online first. :P

I would like to play a match for more than 3 minutes before being disconnected.

Messiahbolical-

They should've used the same connection infrastructure as MW2. MW2 wasn't perfect by any means, but it was as smooth as P2P can possibly get. Host migration worked perfect 90% of the time and there was no "game lobby closed" issue or "disconnected due to transmission error" bullcrap. I love Black Ops, but god they really messed up as far as the connection infrastructure goes.

MW2 was just as bad, if not worse than Black Ops with connection issues. Maybe it's just that I've played MW2 way more than Black Ops...

In the past 2 days BO has frozen my PS3 5 times, and this is only playing like 2 hours of it in those 2 days. Tonight I played for about 20-30 minutes and I only played 1 whole match.

The 360 version runs smoothly for me, and I know loads of guys on the PS3 who says that BO runs fine for them ? Maybe it's your network settings bro.

Yes, I know. In Black Ops Mason takes the gun and then just shoots a gaurd and then they escape further into the tunnels towards Kravchenko. Nothing like the Deer Hunter at all.

apocalypse now is just a copy of heart of darkness that is set in vietnam. Also, nothing in the game was like it. terminator 2's section was deffinately a homage/tribute. also, 1887s have to be reloaded like that. They weren't ripping off how Arnold did that. the only real one i'd give you is deer hunter, but just so you know, the vietcong really did that to soldiers.

What would you prefer a FPS set in the future with laser guns and aliens... oh wait you'll call it a halo rip off... how about aliens invade planet earth but oh wait thats a movie as well... or a rogue alien in the jungle oh wait... nevermind... Or a CoD in a sort of arena style gameplay oh... Maybe you should stop comparing or finding similarities and just play the game, bet you're one of those people who watch a low budget movie and the entire length of it you just say "Hah, that gun is so fake".. or "Oh that monster is almost lifelike *rolls eyes". New ideas cost too much when there are good(safe) ones already... Sure a new style CoD would be a nice change but they don't want to pull an Alan Wake. Atleast with games like AC they add something new to an otherwise generic gameplay by combining good platforming with melee and a strong storyline, not many games can combine all three aspects and pull it off.

The "twist" completely ripped off Fight Club.

hanslacher54

Again....no, it really, REALLY didn't. Why do people think Fight Club invented that twist? Or that the circumstances are the same?

Originality=/=good It was mildly amusing for 4 or so hours. You should know what to expect from cod's sp post 4.:P

MFDOOM1983

I wouldn't even call it amusing. I played it for about an hour at my nephew's house. After the 41'st explosion in the first 10 minutes I sort of zoned out, it was all so ridiculous that I just stopped caring and got bored with it, if that makes any sense.

Thats sort of a staple of CoD games. The old ones took pages from WWII movies and MW2 even took a scene straight from Fast and Furious, a movie that really should not be on the mind of a team working on a military shooter.

MW1 was probably the most original in terms of story, I didn't have any issue with the references though. I actually liked them quite a bit, now the historical innaccuracies, that I can't forgive.

Manchurian Candidate much? Anyway, it was an ok singleplayer. The plot was extremely predictable (that being every little twist) full of pretty dull characters, however it was presented in a remarkably different way. Shame the game was as dull Call of Duty as the series gets; and horribly broken on hardcore difficulty. Not to say there wasn't enjoyment to be had.

[QUOTE="bobbetybob"]You realise all those movies were based of an ACTUAL WAR that happened, I know, crazy right! The only scene I saw that was actually a rip off was the Deer Hunter bit.Verge_6
I'm struggling to recall any Platoon, Apocalypse Now, and Tropic Thunder (a satire, for God's sake) in BO...I'm not coming up with anything.

I'm with you, I seen all of those movies many times and I didn't notice any rip offs of them in the campaign.

Think of it as a homage to the classics...I mean, nothing screams respect for old movies than putting a cameo of an epic moment in a videogame. Honestly, I dig that kind of things in games (like the Scarface shot out in Vice City and so forth).
