3,722,411 units sold makes Black Ops the best-selling game of all time in the UK, ahead of Modern Warfare 2's 3,702,410. "Call of Duty: Black Ops has edged past Modern Warfare 2 to become the best selling game ever in the UK. Call of Duty: Black Ops has sold, as of 25th June, 3,722,411 copies, according to GfK Chart-Track data supplied to MCV. Modern Warfare 2 has sold 3,702,410 copies. Black Ops, released November 2010, got off to a rip-roaring start, selling 1.4 million copies in one day in the UK. That's nearly double Enslaved's worldwide lifetime total. Black Ops went on to become the best selling piece of entertainment in the UK last year - bigger even than DVD/Blu-ray sales of Avatar and CD/download sales of Take That's new album Progress. Call of Duty: Black Ops became the best selling US video game of all time earlier this year. It's no surprise then that EA, with Battlefield 3, wants a piece of Activision's lucrative pie. Can Battlefield 3 spoil the annual Call of Duty party this autumn? " Source: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-06-28-cod-black-ops-best-selling-uk-game-ever (Eurogamer). Can Modern Warfare 3 ever top BLACK OPS?

No surprise, my Sister is 13 and goes to an all girl school and she felt the need to buy it to fit in with her friends. This game is a phenomenon and totally deserves its sales. From the awesome graphics to the amazing hit detection, no game can rival it.

Man Activison makes bank on these games so much. Considering the series hasn't seen a major update in 4 years, their profit margins must be massive. I wonder if BF3 is going to put enough pressure on them to make them change. Somehow I doubt it.

Blops has the worst hit detection of the series. MW2 is even better than Black Ops.

Amazing hit detection? Are you serious?mattuk69

What ? BO has perfect hit detection and the weapons feel 'n play excellent (not like FEAR, which is a ancient, irrelevant, and outdated piece of history by now). You haters are starting to annoy me. The MP is fantasticaly balanced and immensly entertaining; And let's face it already, no one buys first person shooters for single player anymore. MP entertainment is the future (and rightfully so), because it is, essentially pure entertainment, and nothing is more competitive and entertaining than first person shooters (specifically millitary ones, so we get to experience what a real war feels like) which is a natural progression (MP >>>> SP). Also, nothing requires more skill than slowly centering the iron sight on a pixel and pressing a button (ofcourse with the help of auto aim, otherwise the pressure would be incomprehendable), so there goes the theory from haters that 'CoD players have no skill'. Everyone knows that using your finger (YOUR precious finger ! ) to press a button requires a incredible amount of thinking and strategic planning.

The 0.0000000000000001% of these loud haters should face the facts and open their blind hateful eyes already. Seriously, do you minuscule nr. of haters love to hate stuff ?

CoD BO is one of the greatest game released in the past years, and it deserves every sale it gets. Stop hating what's popular. All developers should learn from Activision (my personal role model in life is Bobby Kotick). This is how you create a legendary series that surpasses even Mario (which mearly relies on nostalgia only, it doesn't even have voice acting, lmao)

I didn't even buy it this time yet it still manages to sell more

Get with the times, old gamer.

Quake is a dead, ancient piece of history that should be viewed and not played. As are all games from before 2005.

Times change, and the time of Quake/UT has long died out eons ago.

The time for CoD bros has begun.

:P You're being so bad it almost makes me want to join the COD bro'therhood.

That's okay. You guys still came up with Ricky Gervais, Mitchell and Webb, Matt Lucas and Dave Walliams, turned NZ director Martin Campbell into a powerhouse, put Pippa Middleton on Zoo Weekly...

EDIT: Apparently the one about Pippa hasn't happened yet...

I just have no words anymore, nothing, nada, semmi, intet, nic. So i might aswell have a good time, and kill the boredom, instead of complaining about this. FPSs now (on consoles at least) are one single genre. The 'Michael Bay'/Extraordinary Linear FPS genre.

Really? I started to get bored with it after 20 minutes :?

Same here, i got it for PC so the problems were almost endless, if it didn't bluescreen after a minute it would freeze and stutter. If it didn't freeze and stutter it would terminate with a memory leak requiring a restart, the game was terrible and i don't care how many patches they release i won't be getting another call of duty. World at War is the best in series as far as i'm concerned.

]] Is the FPS genre really any different on the pc the last few years??? Sadly the answer you will find is no! There hasnt been a great pc fps exclusive since Crysis other than perhaps ARMA 2 if thats your sort of game!

3 million? That's small time.

DangerousLiquid

3.7 million in the UK only. Read the link. None of your games come close to 3.7 million in the UK.

Wii Sports has sold like 80 million you're meaning to tell me 3.71 million of those aren't from the U.K? Yeah right.

Wii sports "sales" cant really be compared to that of black ops saying as it comes free with every Wii.....or else you could say minesweeper is best selling game of all time with over a billion "sales"!

Okay the Tetris has 100 million + sold. inb4 tetris isn't a real game, it's not the same version, or some other silly reason.

No surprise, my Sister is 13 and goes to an all girl school and she felt the need to buy it to fit in with her friends. This game is a phenomenon and totally deserves its sales. From the awesome graphics to the amazing hit detection, no game can rival it.BigBoss255

Not sure if serious.
