SPOILERS !! I don't get the praise for Uncharted 2's plot. I found it very generic, predictable, mediocre etc. Black Ops had a far better plot with much more fleshed out characters. Anyay Uncharted 2's first plot twist is where Flynn betrays you for no apparent reason. Its like this was suppose to be a surprise but everyone I know saw it coming. On top of that you are only introduced to Flynn a few cutscenes before this so you don't really care about the character or the betrayl. After this it becomes an extremely generic revenge plot. You are introduced to the main bad guy Lazaravich who has no back story, no info as to how he found out about shambala or as to why he is so evil and how he raised to his position in the military. All I got from Lazaravich is "I am generic Russian bad guy who wants to take over the world". From here you are suppose to ask yourself the question: who's side Chloe is on ?? However the story is told so badly I always knew she was on my side. Anyway you reach the mountains where you meet Tenzin and the village leader Schafer. Schafer sends you to find something I can't remember but you come across his squad and find out he was a Nazi. He gets kidnapped and you go to find him but by the time you get to him he is dead. This is suppose to be an emotionally crippling scene even though the character was only in one cutscene before hand and he was a Nazi. Why should I care about this character ?? You find Shambala where big muscular men are dressing up as monsters to scare the people away. Why did they have to dress up ?? Flynn betrays you again before he dies which is another obvious plot twist and you are suppose to think that Elena is going to die. You kill Lazaravich and escape where (SHOCK) Elena recovers and the game ends with a generic kiss. Black Ops on the other hand may have predictable twists but not as predictable. From the minute you start the game you keep wondering where you are and who is talking to you. I had my suspicions while playing the game but I had no solid evidence to put it together. I was also shocked to see some of the main characters like Bowman and Woods get killed. Dragovich is also extremely fleshed out. I thought he was going to be another Lazaravich but the WW2 level proved otherwise. Then the plot twist happened where Reznov is just a figment of Mason's immagination. Overall a pretty good and enjoyable plot with moments that sent shivers down my spine. Sorry for wall of text Discuss

CoD4, 5, and Blops were predictable cliche stories.. Where the Americans and British has to save the world from Communist and Arab nationalists... I wouldn't be as brutal if it were not for the fact that the stories seem to be ripped directly from a Tom Clancy novel.

I admit black ops has the best COD plot by far. but its still as generic and predictable as uncharted's 2 like I knew reznov was fake since I was in the rat tunnel. oh and schafer was a nazi but he was a good nazi, he murdered his company because they were going to take the cintamani stone to hitler and that would have turned him into the master of the world, schafer didnt wanted that and killed the guys, its something you didnt got. and I did questioned chloes loyalty a lot, and I actually thought elena was going to die, nowadays games are like that, a lot of main characters die.

Uncharted 2's wasn't the best in the world, but I'm not about to agree that Black Ops's is better.

But the characters were really, really bad. They don't develop at all through the game and I personally found Drake extremely unlikeable. Flynn and Lazaravich could also be the two worst villains I have ever seen in a game. I think everyone gets good characters mixed up with excellent voice acting and superb animations.

Lazarevic was power hungry , like all the villains in Black Ops. Either you're blind or you think BO is the best game ever.

it was just way too obvious...I mean the guy clearly died during the vorkuta scape, soviets were not known for taking prisoners who were trying to escape. plus the guy shows up at vietnam, I rescue him, ok thats believable, but the guy stays in my squad? why? did he enlisted for the army or something? and the other characters never mention him, not once, and when they spoke to me they didnt said anything, like woods would be "bowman, go with me, mason you go that way "he didnt said "hey mason and reznov, go that way!"

drake isnt a comedian, you seem to have approached him from a wrong side. and ok one thing is that you dont like care free characters but that doesnt mean that drake is a flat character just because he is care free and not a stone cold killer

But that doesn't explain how he found out about Shambala or how he got his military power. In Black Ops it tells you that power got to Dragovichs head after Russia won the war and how he started to agree with the Nazi's in some aspects. They tried too hard to make Lazaravich seem evil I laughed when he started going on about how Hitler and Atila the Hun were great men. Dragovich on the other hand is always calm throughout the game and it makes him seem way more evil.

Lazarevic didnt find Shambhala, Drake did by looking up research on Marco Polo's trail. Lazarevic basically stole Drake's moment. And he got in power by doing what other villains would do, kill anyone in their way. Dragovich was just doing it to do it. There was no "I want to take over the world". He was just "I want power. That's it" And he failed in succeeding. At least Lazarevich gained the power he wanted.(Though Drake still stopped him).

BLOPS has a nice plot. The campaign from COD games are way better than multiplayer.

So has uncharted 2.

Bad plot is modern warfare 2, its laughable.

It didn't say how he got his military force behind him though or why he was so evil. Dragovich was doing it because his country was after becoming one of the superpowers in the world and he wanted it to become the only superpower in the world. The Russian military defeated the Germans in World War 2 and he was one of the generals behind it. Of course the power and confidence would go to his head.

While Blops had a better plot than most other CoD games, it was still horrible. The pacing was absolutely awful; constantly throwing you into the action. It felt like the climax the entire way through. The plot twist near the end was okay though.

Uncharted 2 does not have the best story. But it has fantastic characters and great storytelling (different to story).

Chloe explained how he paid for Marco Polo's journals and been after the ship for years. And like I said, how do Dictators get into power? Family , resources, and full frontal wars can provide anyone an army.

And your speculation about Dragovich can be directly applied to Lazarevic. Power goes to people's heads, Dragovich and Lazarevic are nearly the same people, just different designs and one didnt have to fight a gorilla with a sawn off shotgun.

Uncharted has never been about the plot. Its about the presentation of the plot and the effort put into digital acting, so the characters are actually performed realistically and they feel real.

COD on the other hand is about taking the most cliche action movie plot elements possible and trying to weave a passable qualification of a story.

BO's plot was a convoluted mess with some laughable voice acting and dialogue "the numbers!!!" "argggh" - thats the extent of the conversations. And frankly, their representation of Castro was embarrassing.

IDK, I find him to be just as cookie cutter as any other Uncharted character. There are tons of Phoenix Wright characters that I think are way more interesting or likeable than Sullivan. My favorite character this gen is probably Phoenix Wright's sidekick Maya.

I thought not! Point is proven!

[QUOTE="TrapJak"]But I likeDrake due to his charm and his attitude towards the enemies. But everyone knows Victor "GODDAMN" Sullivan is the best character in gaming, its non debatable.

TrapJak

IDK, I find him to be just as cookie cutter as any other Uncharted character. There are tons of Phoenix Wright characters that I think are way more interesting or likeable than Sullivan. My favorite character this gen is probably Phoenix Wright's sidekick Maya.

But does Sully have a metallic mask?

Didn't think so.

Define a good story. Why is it that people assume that a good story involves a deep complex story with multidimensional characters and philosophy? We're talking about a videogame, here. I personally think the Mario games have one of the best stories in gaming. Here you are, here's the bad guy: rescue the princess. No half assed attempt at being a book (*cough Bioshock cough*) or a movie (*cough Crysis 2 cough*). Anyways, Uncharted 2 has a great story. It knows it's a videogame, and doesn't take itself seriously at all. Unlike Black Ops.

Pshh, Fake Mask. I can tell its manufactured.

Sully's Mustache is a 100% man-made. Mustache >Mask

Pretty sure Reznov (the imagined one) kills enemies while you are fighting so that's pretty broken. The characters in U2 are way better and the use of decent cutscenes instead of just some guy talking to you is good.

Not exactly sure why you'd want to argue between those two. The stories in those two games are just excuses for the characters to be in places where things which look cool are so that said cool looking things can explode.

That's not saying much because Uncharted 2's story was overall, unimpressive.

I would say yes but no where near Uncharted 2's level of presentation.

TC, if you think Dragovich is a fully fleshed out character, I don't even know where to begin.

I actually liked Black Ops' story. That said, I liked Uncharted 2's more.UCF_Knight
I didn't not because it wasn't good I just didn't comprehend it atleast not the end anyway. The only thing I like about black ops is woods, he is a better character to me then nathan drake but thats about it.

The story in Black Ops is okay, I found it too cliche and all over the place. CoD 4 still has the best story in the CoD series (that's not saying much though). It doesn't even come close to Uncharted 2's story though, it's just so much better, more engaging, and entertaining.

UC2: The only time I heard my friend laugh harder at a plot twist was UC1...and Smosh's "Worst Movie Plot Twists" on youtube. Black Ops: It was an enjoyable story, although inconsistent. *SPOILER* From a psych. perspective, I don't understand how the 'kill X person' torture/brain-washing can be folded into 'kill X person, then W,Y,Z persons' just by talking to him. The thread title should be univerally agreeable, but it's not saying much.

Pretty much, though UC2 does have some believable voice acting.

Black Ops campaign tried to be clever when in reality is was just a military version of Fight Club or A Beautiful Mind. The question remains though, when Viktor Reznov killed people when he was accompanying you, since he actually didn't exist, how did those soldiers actually die?
