Recent post thread today showd, this link http://kotaku.com/5583710/lawsuit-activision-created-modern-warfare-police-state

Really? i think at this point activision is fairly desperate for more money if though they are the largest publisher. they expensive dlc and the subscription fee idea is just going a bit far. they are corrupted and really are rushing out call of duty titles. at this point they could release call of duty: space battles, and it would still sell enormous amounts

black ops is going to sell amazingly well. outselling halo reach. the fanbase for call of duty seems to a bit bias and blind to these types of things and will be willing to pay a subcription fee and 15 dollars for dlc.

halo reach is clearly going to be one of the top games of the year. and really it deserves to sell more. the way bungie is to the fanbase is alot more apealing. the call of duty fanbase is largely "uneducated" if you will and does not give a rats ass about campaign lengths and reviews. they will play the crap out of last years multiplayer, just on different maps with differnt guns and perks.

What do you think? Which is will sell more? which will score better?(also take into acount back ops is a multi platt

say if you think they will have low ratings and what they will sell

Reach will probably be the better game, but how can you compare a game on 3 systems to a game on 1 for sales :?

Where's the irony?

The last three CoD games outsold all the Halo games. They also were all on 3 or more systems.

Fans of CoD will pay for a sub fee I'm sure. I wouldn't say it's out of bias, ignorance, or stupidity, but because they like CoD! I pay for stuff that I like all the time!!!Should not be a surprise when other people do it too.

All this hate for COD and yet every year it's one of the highest rated games and wins many awards, talk about a disconnect..and i suppose you're calling the many dozens or so game critics "uneducated" too. As if you need half a brain to enjoy Halo, geeesh people.

I think the over saturation of FPSes this year might make both flop in sales, I'm counting 4 of them with a dedicated team building multiplayer.

game quality yes reach will be a definate win. but sales wise i wanted to get peoples opinions. i think black ops will sell more, just because of how modernwarfare 2 sold. black ops is an instan purchase for some because it has call of duty in the title

releasing a new call of duty game every year is pushing blind purchases. the average call of duty player does not visit forums and learn the vertics on games. on the other hand, halo is a known for being a good series. every title has receieved fantastic scores(with the exception of ODST which was an expansion and a price ripp off) which here on gamespot got the same rating as modernwarfare 2. reach has had a 3 year development cycle, versus call of dutys 2 year cycles to push out a new game every year.

Yeah exactly, to the general masses that don't get on forums, MW2 was a critical/financial success and they probably don't even know Black Ops is made by different dev. It's still not gona be nearly as hyped as MW2 though.

ehhhh I think Reach is going to outsell Black Ops on 360 by at least a million by the end of the year, and even more in the long run. Microsoft's hype + marketing is too powerful, CoD is losing it's appeal.

i enjoy playing cod too. but i think its unfair to charge extra just to play, especially considering im already paying for live gold. and a new one every year gets a bit repetive for my liking. its been3 years since the last full fledged multiplayer reboot for halo.

also, if there was no new call of duty being released, the same amount of people would still be playing modernwarfare 2 regardless. it would be alot nicer if they released cheaper dlc instead of having a brand new game

Uh, no. Halo is hardly the first series with a powerful brand.

Also, how do you what purchases are "blind" and which ones or not? Most people buy things because those things looking appealing to them for whatever reason or it's a game in a series that they love or they heard great things about it. How is that kind of purchases anymore blind than most purchases?

I swear. Halo fans and COD fans have to deal with more smug condescending attitudes than any other videogame fanbase.

There's quite a difference between enjoying CoD and loving it.

I'm not saying that Activision's business practices are all hunky dorey. I'm just saying that calling CoD fans uneducated is an unwarranted generalization.

If they know what they are going to get, that's not a blind purchase.

And like I said, Halo was not the first series out there with a powerful brand.

I only own a 360 as a home console and have never owned a halo or CoD game in my life and I will tell you CoD will win overall, They got teh PS3, Xbox, and PC(this a really big markert.....huge worldwide) I have talked to a couple friends and most are sick of halo and all they do now is play CoD I think Halo may be on its way out and CoD is there to pick up the pieces. This by no means Halo is a bad series or that it will sell bad, Im pretty sure it will sell millions, just as not as fast as CoD will do overall..... I do dislike both series though. I did like how the story was told in ODST though(was surprised and horde mode was alright.)

All this hate for COD and yet every year it's one of the highest rated games and wins many awards, talk about a disconnect..and i suppose you're calling the many dozens or game critics "uneducated" too. As if you need half a brain to enjoy Halo, geeesh people.

im not calling the critics uneducated. im saying some people on call of duty dont really care about game reviews and are willing to spen more money on unnecessary things

and millions of people will buy Halo cause it says "halo" it's like you're trying to say that Halo won't sell millions on name alone but COD will. I think Halo invented the blind purchase.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Mario invented the blind purchase. Didn't people even buy games like Dr. Mario ones lol?

COD is multiplatform , it will get more hype for being that and could outsell Reach on the 360

I wouldn't be surprised if Black Ops scores a 7.0. It will still sell, but I don't think it will be as popular as past COD games.

They are both casual as hell and very simple, and yes, I think critics are noobs too considering they all think Call of Duty is the best thing since sliced bread.

Your point? Black Ops will OutsellHalo Reacheither way. Not only that but Reach will outsell Killzone 3. SO whats the point? Call Of Duty franchise is probably the most known video game around, even women know what we are talking about.

MrFamBoyLOL
Haha yeah that's funny. Many women I meet I tell I play video games, and they are like, "Call of Duty?" And I'm all like, "No way, I don't play that crap." lol

Reach will probably be the better game, but how can you compare a game on 3 systems to a game on 1 for sales :?

nintend-man86
on the 360 platform

Then Reach by a landslide. Halo 3 sold more than 12 million copies, with 2 million being in the first hour of release. No other game this gen exclusively on one console has accomplished that feat. Xbox owners know what quality games are, especially when it comes to THE game for the xbox, Halo

12 million copies? Where did you pull that number out of? Do you have a link?

Wiki says it has sold 11 million copies.

This shouldnt even be a conversation.Halo Reach will be no doubt be one of the biggest game launches ever and you want to put it up against Black Ops :?

Ringx55

I guess you didn't get the memo. Call of Duty is far bigger than Halo ever was.

Try saying that again in 2007

I think most of these kids were too young to remember ANY of the halo launches. I swear the world stops spinning a month before a Halo launch. COD has only become mainstream after Infinity Ward released Modern Warfare 1. And that one didn't sell like hotcakes like Halo, not until treyarch's WAW did it start selling bundles. I can't wait to see Reach's marketing campaign at full swing. There'd truly nothing else like a Halo launch in the entertainment business

COD Black ops is on multiple platforms, so yes it will outsell reach. If however it's just on the Xbox 360, then reach will outsell COD.

We haven't seen MS's Marketing Push yet.

When it comes, seriously, it's going to be big....

(Apparently they are going to market this game even more than Halo 3)
