Poll Bloodborne vs Pillars of Eternity (82 votes)

Bloodborne 46%
Pillars of Eternity 41%
12%

Have people forgot that both game are to be released in march with a very few days of difference ?

The battle of the exclusives is coming, PS4 vs PC. Which RPG are you more excited about, Bloodborne or Pillars of Eternity ? Which game will score higher on MC ?

On one side we have Bloodborne, an epic action Dark Souls-like RPG, which cows don't stop hyping, well, the game really looks great.

On the other side we have the first spiritual successor to the legendary Baldur's Gate, which will be an epic adventures that may probably be even better than Divinity: Original Sin, with amazing hand-made visuals and story and true old-school rpg mechanics.

Let cows slaughter begin : )

Bloodborne as I'm more into how the Souls games play on a basic level, as the combat is oh so satisfying. Plus the boss fights are usually bitchin.

Pillars of Eternity should be dope, because in practice Obsidian is mostly Blackisle peeps, and Blackisle on their bad days made games better than Baldur's Gate. So I'm hoping for a game up to snuff with Icewind Dale and the questing of things like Fallout 2 and Planescape. Pretty sure if I want something truly up to snuff with Planescape I'll have to wait for Torment: Tides of Numera.

I'm picking up Pillar's Day 1. I'm not sure when I'm picking up Bloodbourne yet. Only because I'm still playing Dark Souls 2.

Both games will be great I'm sure.

Never really got the appeal of Souls style dodgeroll combat, so Eternity for me. Even though it seems like PoE's combat might suffer due to the lead designer's obsession with balance and having "no bad builds."

I'm not sure there is much of a conflict. From where I stand, the next major release is in late May with the Witcher 3, giving roughly 2 months for both Pillars and Bloodborne. I'll be playing Bloodborne first as it comes out a few days before, and it will most likely be much shorter than Pillars.

I'm going with Pillars of Eternity but I hope both do good. After The Order the PS4 need a great game and Bloodborne definitely seems to fit that bill.

I'm more excited for Torment:Tides of Numenera than both of these. But I think Pillars will be closer to what I like. The narrative will definitely be the deciding factor for me in my interest towards that game.

The last time we had a game like Pillars was about 15 years ago.

The last time we had a game like Bloodborne was less than a year ago.

So yeah, I'm vastly more excited about Pillars.

I voted for empty space.

Getting both, not sure which will score higher, don't really care.

Personally, Bloodborne is the most appealing of the two. Combat, level design, atmosphere, Bloodborne just has me sold.

Moooooo!!!!!!!

Not really, game just looks dope. Bet most of the cows hyping it aren't even buying it.

Divinity and Wasteland 2 were last year mate.

They weren't exactly not imitating games from 15 years ago. If we were really being petty, than a game like this happened about 6 years ago in 09 when Dragon Age: origins came out, but that game sucked, a lot, so I don't blame you for acting like that one shouldn't count, due to being shit.

How is that browswer/flash-game going to beat a AAA blockbuster sony title?

I promise you Bloodborne will score higher at MetaCritic.

I'll play both.

But I plan to play Sinner of The First Sin before I get bloodborne (and I don't even have a PS4 yet so...)

So I'll play Pillars first.

Bloodborne doesn't have Sawyer designing it and his ideas of balancing.

But at the same time, it has been a while since we got an IE-esque style game, that wasn't shit. (D:OS and Wasteland 2 were not IE-esque)

But then PoE is RTwP, so I will go with Bloodborne. Which, if I may add, is the only PS4 exclusive that interests me in the slightest.

Although I'm a huge fan of the Soul series, a decent CRPG is much rarer in this day and age. If Pillars of Eternity turns out as great as, say Divinity Original Sin, then I will pick it over Bloodborne easily.

Completely different kinds of games. I'll be getting both. Bloodborne swaps spells for guns which is fantastic news for me and I think Pillars will be more like Baldur's Gate than Divinity was so I can't wait for that one. Tides of Numera is the one I want most I hope it doesn't disappoint.

@jhonMalcovich: Pillars of Eternity. Don't like the artstyle they went for (comes across as a bit "generic" in a way) but the gameplay itself seems dope! Liking everything I've seen so far on that department!

Bloodborne will be (is) the most hyped because its a console game and thats how console games sell. Pillars will likely be the deeper and better game though, at least for me. I never liked any Souls game.

@Lulu_Lulu:

It's more the excessive pursuit of balance and "no bad builds" can lead to dnd 4E syndrome: classes ending up with similar abilities and playing the same. Might be fine for a MMO where you control one character, but here we'll be controlling 6. Really hope PoE doesn't end up like that, though the lead designer's citing of 4E as an influence doesn't give much hope.

Divinity and Wasteland 2, while party based games, are also turn based which means they play quite differently. You're right in that origins provided an IE-ish experience 6 years ago though, as watered down as it was.

Bloodborne is going to destroy on the ratings charts, it's hype is well beyond "normal".

Will that make it the "better" game? Doubtful.

I will buy Pillars of Eternity if it's good, but the devs have not proven themselves yet, like From Software. It takes more than just a few people who worked on Baldur's Gate to make a worthy successor. They may have a few key people with that past credential, but not necessarily the same team.

The original creator may have the vision, but you need a good team to make a good game.
