Poll Bloodborne vs Pillars of Eternity (82 votes)

Bloodborne 46%
Pillars of Eternity 41%
12%

Have people forgot that both game are to be released in march with a very few days of difference ?

The battle of the exclusives is coming, PS4 vs PC. Which RPG are you more excited about, Bloodborne or Pillars of Eternity ? Which game will score higher on MC ?

On one side we have Bloodborne, an epic action Dark Souls-like RPG, which cows don't stop hyping, well, the game really looks great.

On the other side we have the first spiritual successor to the legendary Baldur's Gate, which will be an epic adventures that may probably be even better than Divinity: Original Sin, with amazing hand-made visuals and story and true old-school rpg mechanics.

Let cows slaughter begin : )

Bloodborne as I'm more into how the Souls games play on a basic level, as the combat is oh so satisfying. Plus the boss fights are usually bitchin.

Pillars of Eternity should be dope, because in practice Obsidian is mostly Blackisle peeps, and Blackisle on their bad days made games better than Baldur's Gate. So I'm hoping for a game up to snuff with Icewind Dale and the questing of things like Fallout 2 and Planescape. Pretty sure if I want something truly up to snuff with Planescape I'll have to wait for Torment: Tides of Numera.

by usually bitching do you mean incredibly boring since you can beat every boss the same way?

That applies to Dark Souls 2, in Dark Souls 1? No. Please try again.

Both....

Pillars because I am a die hard AD&D nut... and the infinity ingine was my favorite version of crpgs... ever. It's what made me upgrade my old 386sx to a pentium 2 with a voodoo card back in 99' and a year later when BG2 came out... I forgot all about my colleciton of 60+ Ps1 games. (In fact it led me to not gettiing a console until 2007 when I got a psp for x-mas... which brought me back to playing consoles)
- I stuck to PC only all through gen 6 of consoles just because the infinity engine and rpgs like nwn and kotor were all being made for PC... It wasn't until after 2007 (after nwn2 and witcher lauched) that I got back into console gaming.

- I am thrilled that kickstarter has let devs make games I love. Even if the mainstream cod kiddies would have nothing to do with them... ("ewww turn based combat... 2d gameplay...ewwww... thats so before I was born.. I'll go back to shooting bros in the head on xblive over and over and over again..." lmao!!!!)

Bloodborne because --- welll it's a fucking PS4 exclusive Souls game..directed by the maker of demon souls himself. I have loved the souls game since way back when they were Kings field and shadow tower on ps1. I was also someone who imported Demon Souls from hong kong when lems on this board were bashing the game for graphics and slowness... countless threads by them on that... it was hilarous as the game won goty once it got stateside.

- So of course I will pick up bloodborne... only a fool or a lem (mutually interchangable) wouldn't.

How can you ask me this question tc? You are throwing this out as some PC vs Console bs... well guess what. Some of us love RPGS in general and own and are fans of both PC gaming and Console gaming. (in my case anything but xbox, and I will admit it unlike others who hide their likes and then post passive agressive bs..)

Both games should be an extension of the greatness that good deep, non publisher RPGS will bring. It's what happens when real gamers speak with their wallet, and aren't being force fed easy mode drivel, the antithesis to the hand-holding "everyone wins" neogaf loving millennials and their easy mode cod loving moar graphics and frame rate ways....

Souls games were def cool for mainstream RPGs (as they actually had decent action combat and were kinda old school, in that they didn't hold your hands with all the bullshit quest compasses, ect...) much better than any crap Bio/Beth put out these days, for instance.

Even if I had a PS4, I'd still have to go with Pillars though. Just hoping the 'over balancing' doesn't screw it up too much.

Actually, CRPG community generally doesn't agree with what you said. Black Isle would not be able to make a better game than Baldur's Gate on a bad day. Icewind Dale is universally considered as an inferior version of Baldur's Gate, as with the second series of Neverwinter Games. The only CRPG they made which could compete is Planescape, and Planescape came out after Baldur's Gate 1. So in the CRPG area, they have always been trailing behind Bioware, mostly in quality and ideas.

We could say however, that they are the quintessential Fallout/post-apocalyptic game developer. That...everyone can agree on. But to say Black Isle made better CRPG games than Bioware....most people will not agree.

LOL at trying to put Black Isles Fallout games in some own little made up sub genre and not cRPGs.

And don't talk like you have your finger on the pulse of the cRPG 'community', because you don't.

Maybe you should go back to the Bio boards and argue about romances or something.

Somewhere there is a gif for the amount of fucks I give for most people. If it was my money and time, I'd rather spend it with Blackisle's work than the Baldur's Gate games because Blackisle's stuff was always more legit.

That's why I hope Bloodborne will be more like Demon's Souls than Dark Souls. I just dodged to the side and hit the bosses until they died in Dark Souls. Demon's Souls was different and the bosses were more diverse and you couldn't just do that.

So apparently Pillars of Eternity is typical Obsidian game with an actual QA.

Which would be dope.

I like the lore that is implied by the environments and what certain characters tell you. I disliked the Dark Souls lore but loved the Demon's Souls one. Walking through Bolitaria for the first time and seeing the destruction of the once great castle and how it is falling into ruin and the dragons that now use it as a home. Coming to stonefang tunnel and going into the mines and the deeper you go the more creatures you find and how it all turns into an altar for a Dragon God. The world just feels so rich with history and this lost greatness that I kind of felt when reading the Lord of the Rings, a world that was once great and was once majestic but that time has passed and now evil is on the offense.

I also like the nexus better that firelink shrine.

Also Ed and Boldwin > Whoever the blacksmiths in Dark Souls were

The only thing I liked about Dark Souls was the giant serpent head that talked like Sean Connery. He was friendly.

Fallout 1 and Planescape: Torment are both better than Baldur's Gate 2.

The above mentioned titles as well as IWD1 and Fallout 2 are both better than BG1. Though that really isnt saying a lot, because Baldur's Gate 1 was a bad game. Far inferior to the RPGs of old (Wizardry, Ultima, Might and Magic, Pool of Radiance saga, Dark Sun), as well as the RPGs that came after it.

A good low level D&D adventure would be Pool of Radiance.

BioWare has had a pretty bad reputation in the cRPG community since around Mass Effect and with the hate Dragon Age: Inquisition got, things really arent looking much better.

I voted for empty space.

Getting both, not sure which will score higher, don't really care.

Personally, Bloodborne is the most appealing of the two. Combat, level design, atmosphere, Bloodborne just has me sold.

Moooooo!!!!!!!

Not really, game just looks dope. Bet most of the cows hyping it aren't even buying it.

The third option, of course, is "Captain Toad".

You chose wisely.

As far as those other two games go...
