About 20, this is excluding the 4 disc Planet Earth box set I just bought.

Who cares, face it, Toshiba and MS lost that battle.

I don't even think they have 40 different Blue Ray movies out...I swear the catalog sucks. Where do you get them from? Link me I'll seriously buy some. I've checked amazon, best buy has maybe 15 different blue rays...that's all I've seen. I'm not paying 25$ for Meet the Parents.

I'm with the TC though. I brought this up the other day, nobody went for it.

if they do the buy 2 get one free deal again but with an updated set of films then they'll start to sell, also when the price drops below £20 sales will increase but at a guess that will come when more can be shipped

i can remember when dvds first came out it was more or less the same - expensive machines expensive films poor catalogue

I've only actually purchased the last two though. DVD's are simply much ****ing cheaper, and the PS3 does an excellent job at upscaling them. Don't really think higher resolution is worth more than twice the price. The movie has to be pretty special in some way or another for me to shell out for the bluray version. With that said I made the mistake of thinking 300 was gonna look awesome what with it being like 99% CGI and all.

What does your post or the attached article have to do...even remotely...with BR DVD sales. BR DVD sales are doing good enough that it killed HD-DVD and all the stores ditched HD-DVD as well.

All this article states is that PS3 sales are keeping standalone players sales down. Of COURSE! Stand alone BR players are more money than a PS3 and the PS3 also plays games. Even my Uncle bought a PS3 for BR because it was cheaper.

This whole thread should be locked.

I rarely buy DVDs anymore ..... but once I get a nice HDTV I will be renting blu-ray movies at least. Blu-ray will start getting bigger once blu-ray stand alones come down in price and more people adopt the nicer TVs and get more educated about HD. In the meantime , most of the people that start using blu-ray will likely never go back to DVD when they have a choice.

I have only 7 BR movies but when it's $29.99 compared to a $10.00 dollar DVD what do they expect? Sure, newly released DVDs can be up to 19.99 but they're usually 14.99 or 16.99 Blu Ray's come out at 29.99 and stay there. I buy Blu Rays on Ebay when I find a deal.

Sony didn't make any deals with anyone. BestBuy made the choice themselves. A simple Google search takes two seconds and you will have the facts.

well i have 8 blu-rays but i still need to buy no country, juno, michael clayton, and there will be blood. So that should bring it up to 12 and if sweeny todd and atonement would've came out in blu-ray i would've got them as well.

To go along with my 15 games on my ps3 on actually disc, and with some on PSN (GT5P).

I bought T2 on BluRay for 19.99 thats the cheapest they come. I could have got that dvd for 13 bucks. So 2 BluRays at the cheapest retail is 40.00 plus tax now were getting close to videogame prices. I'd much rather buy a game. Renting BluRays on Netflix is working well enough for me.

I only bought the last two in the list. Sony ran a promotion for early PS3 adopters, you got Casino Royale. I ended up getting it twice somehow.

I have owned my ps3 for about 8 months and have yet to buy, or even watch, a single blue ray movie.

Edit: but I have not rented, purchased, or gone to a threatre in that time either. Not a movie fan.

Thats beautiful!! I may only have a little more than half that collection because I bought the DVD's of a lot of those movies. I'm jealous you have ID4 bluray though because that's one of my all time favorite movies and will probably be the only movie I want to upgrade from DVD to Bluray.

I hate to assault you with the use of caps lock, but read some news once in a year or so. HD-DVD IS DEAD. Blue Ray has WON.
That they "Will no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders"Toshiba
So that's it. I can't believe that this went on for five pages!

now you see this is one of those things that pisses me off alot, theres no winning for ps3 owners, they buy movies and they get critisized for just watching movies on the ps3, but now if they dont buy movies ps3 owners are hurting the movie industry

By June 29, I would have 3 PS3 games, and 2 Blu-Ray films, one of them being BBC's Planet Earth Documentary.

At one point, the DVD format would drop out, and Blu-Ray will take over. HD-DVD has already lost, so it can only move in one direction.

Not everyone's got an HDTV just yet, so wait until most of N.A., Europe have HDTVs as the only available options on the market. When that time comes, Blu-Ray will blossom.

I currently have 18 blu ray movies and will buy nothing but them from now on.Dilrod
