There've been a few dissenters of late that have been attempting to call BluRay a failed format or gimmick despite the sales numbers it has been showing. There was even an announcement some time ago about Wal-Mart possibly carrying a $200 HD player by the Holiday season. Well, it seems the BluRay team has stepped up to the plate and will be releasing a BluRay drive with DVD burning capabilities for $299 this June.

http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=163

With computer drives down to a $299 price it will be a very short time before the player's themselves are down to a similar price. A price drop on BluRay players coupled with the built in player on the PS3, it is looking more and more like HD-DVD's time is up.

blu ray will win, it's only a matter of time.  Sony knew what they were doing when they put bluray in PS3.  The add on hddvd player for 360 is a joke.

Blu-ray is Demolishing  hd-dvd http://www.n4g.com/industrynews/News-37670.aspx

Since the beginning of the year, Blu-ray disc sales have doubled its rival HD DVD. And, according to Nielsen VideoScan, last week was no different.Blu-ray accounted for 71 percent of all HDTV DVD title sales last week, compared to 29 percent for HD DVD.That's according to an article by Reuters. The news service says Blu-ray was aided by the release of the Ben Stiller comedy, A Night at the Museum, which is available only on Blu-ray....

I prefer to have functions built in instead of an add-on adding more cords and parts around my TV. That's why I'm sticking with Blu-ray for HD movies since I already have an HD movie player built into a game machine.

Just get over it already, Blu-Ray is the format of the future and blah blah. It's doing great worldwide while the HD-DVD is doing pretty well in NA. The final nail in HD-DVD's coffin is when Blu-Ray is the standard outfit in PCs.

Blu-ray will win against HD-DVD but it will take a decade for it to beat out DVD9 to become the new standard.

Not neccessarily for a product that has been out for less than a year with a such a niche market.

IF Blue Ray does win this is a SERIOUS problem for MS and this will give a HUGE advantage to Sony.

It was common sense. It's only a matter of time before stronger technology replaces weaker technology. This was just the nail in the coffin. To the peson who made that this is system wars comment and not formats wars. Last time I checked PS3's technology revolvles around the astouning Blue Ray Tech. If Blue ray wins expect sells to rise and short after a price drop. If the price drops Sony may drop the price on the PS3. Plus their was knews that  360 's GTA4 will be gimped solely because they don't have enough room on DVD9. Blue ray can be the sole reason why PS3 will win.

The movie isn't awful it is just one of those movie where you can only watch it once. I thought it was great the 1st time I saw it. Second time I had to shut it off in the middle it was so dumb.

This rumor was already debunked by Walmart thenselves (search for it on google, here, any media site that is wacthing the format wars if you really want to keep well informed about it). For now, at least, Walmart will support both, unitl the buyers make their final choice (as of now BD is beating HD-DVD).
