Blu-ray VS. DVD9 loading...

in some cases uncompressed data is faster to read (uncharted), but this is not my point at all. 

I just wanted to present a common misconception about blu-ray drives. The 12x dvd9 drive is a lot of time not faster than the 2x blu-ray drive. Which is how the media and this forum are spinning it.

sorry if i came off as a jerk, i respect your views. I still don't know if i think blu-ray is a better medium for games, i guess only time will tell

Fact: HDD Pwns Blueray & Dvd9

Fact: Sony has HDD standerd for the PS3

Fact : Xbox360 doesnt, because of Xbox core

If you did not understand, in other words PS3 should read data 15 times faster than Xbox360 because of the combination of Blue-ray and a HARDDISK both Steaming data into the ram at the same time :)

PORTS DONT COUNT BECAUSE THEY DONT USE THE ADVANTAGES!!

Fact: the more You compressed your data, the slower it gets

Fact: uncompressed data is faster to read

Seems like i gota make some Xbox fans remember why Blue ray is needed

1- GTA got some content cutting because 9 Gigs werent ENOUGH

2- PGR reported the same problem :)

3- Other developers saying the same thing

KEEP THIS IN YOUR HEAD,DVD9 Loses 2 Gigs of DATA because of Microsoft DRM 9 Gigs = 7 Gigs :)

7 gig ( Dvd9 ) Vs 49 Gig (Blue ray )

MAJOR FACT Blue ray is more resistant to Scraches, dvd9 is just like every other CD. I have tons of old CD's alot have tons of Scraches and some dont even play. They do get scrached very easily, but the Blueray just makes life easier :)

Nope, just saying the Truth ? truth hurts ? :D

not to mention dvds are written from the outside in i believe. starting an app isnt really great proof. different machines have different protocols they go through, doesnt mean slower loading. An in-game comparison with considerable differences would be better. for instance the ps3 shows its logo before it even opens the game where as the 360 does not.

but none of this even matters the 360 loads great i understand, just saying the ps3 isnt as slow as people think.

wrong inside out. look at the bottom of a dvd you have burnt and you will see. anyway the 360s 12x dvd drive is a joke, there were 18x drives out when it came out and 16x drives were standard a year before the 360 came out

deal with it 50GB is better than 9 GB

I have both the 360 and ps3 and the ps3 loads faster after you install part or all of the game also I upgraded my ps3's hard drive to a 7200rpm drive and now there is no loading to speak of.

If you don't install the game then yeah on some games the ps3 is slower but why would you not it does not take long at all.

way way faster, well the desktop ones anyway. A laptop will still be loading windows when the desktop is loading the game if you turn them both on at the same time
