[QUOTE="peacenutman"][QUOTE="locopatho"]If they wanna defend an expensive yet inferior(for now at least) console, let them.sexy_chimp
I wouldn't say inferior, just weak game library. But everything else ps3 is better.
Good hardware, free online ect. won't do much if it has a weak game library. Good games are the basis of a good console. If you don't have that then nothing else matters.
I guess the Ps3 doesn't have any good games and everyone should get a 360 instead of it because you say so.
The reason I don't have a 360 is b/c I'm not really interested in their so called exclusive games, and the ones that might get my attention usually end up going to the PC.
The unreliable hardware doesn't exactly convince me to spend $300-500 on a 360.
So basically:
The PS3; having great exclusives that I am a fan of, reliable hardware and the PS3 has everything included right out of the box>>>>>>>> the 360; last gen format, unreliable hardware and software I can purchase on my PC.
Okay, I lied, it's not a good read, but now that I have your attention shut up and read it anyway.
How many times have you heard a cow say something like this?
"360 is the now, PS3 is the future"
"2007 was the 360's year, 2008 is the PS3's year"
The answer? TOO MANY!!!
This is just the lowest of the low when it comes to blind fanboyism.
So, these cows are admitting that right now, the 360 has better games than the PS3, right?
SO WHY DO THEY OWN A PS3 INSTEAD OF A 360!!!
Man it gets me mad. It's pathetic that you KNOW another console has better games, yet you stick to your own console. WTF?
Now I'm not just picking on cows - Okay, yeah I am. But this applies to all fanboys.

Because most KNOW that the ps3 will have beter games in the future because they didn't use all of there good games in 07 unlike someone else

I've got news for you, all high end technology has a higher chance of failure. Its so advanced and everything has to work together. If one thing goes, the whole thing doesent work. If you want reliability, you should buy a GBA.
A gaming system is more than simply the sum of its games. That is the argument we've seen from 360 fans, and it completely fails to address why the Wii has outsold the Xbox 360, and indeed recently why the PS3 is starting to gain a foothold against the 360. If we look at PC sales - there's definitely more than "list of games" in the equation.

It's called an investment. Do you know what that means? It means you sacrifice instant gratification for a better payoff in the long run. I realize, however, that most lemmings suffer from ADHD and drink too much Halo Mountain Dew, which prevents them from seeing the big picture. They want games now. Fair enough, I guess. I bought my PS3 with the intention of fully enjoying it in 2008 and beyond. Luckily, unlike you (apparently), I have enough going on in my life that I don't need to constantly sit in front of my television, shooting aliens and screaming at other cretins through a NASA headset. To each his own...
Wow...stereotypes. Why do you have to bring that into games discussion? That was completely unecessary. It makes you just as bad as that fanboy who's going on and on. And also, 360 isn't an investment. You make it sound like there is absolutely no games for 360 in 2008 and beyond. Please, you are a fanboy as well.
This is the reason I bought a PS3 as well. It's an investment. I'm not saying that the 360 wont have games worth earning in the future. But MGS4, FFXIII, GOWIII, KZ2, GT5 are too great to pass on. And I have a PC for GeOW, Bioshock, etc.
Why do i have a ps3 instead of a 360?
I want a system that wont die on me unexpectedly after a few plays
I want good games like final fantasy, god of war and metal gear solid ( i mostly play good rpg's though and the ps3 is stronger in that section)
I'm not a halo fan and although gears of war is good, that game alone doesn't justify me purchasing a 360
the ps1 and ps2 systems were really good so i have an attachement to the playstation brand
i'm interested in playstation home looks really appealing to me
so far, it doesnt seem like you can go wrong with blu ray
since you asked, these are the reason's why i have a ps3 and not a 360. I'm willing to wait for games that i like to play.
wth i juss didn't want a 360, the reason i bought a ps3 was blu-ray, god of war and Final fantasy continuation, MGS4, and i didn't want to pay for online. I am also a very cautious consumer who studies the heck out of everything and juss wasn't comfortable with RROD. I think the 360 is a fine machine, with hits like bioshock, mass effect and halo. I just didn't want one. Is that too hard to understand?
i used to have a 360, played the exclusives i wanted and that interested me ( halo 3, gears, PDZ ) , i wasnt that sure aboute Mass Effect, Bioshock i only played the demo and i loved it but it was more of a rent , but still great... ,and all the other ones are multiplat ( COD4, AC, Burnout Paradise etc ), now i think ill switch to the PS3...why ??? i am interested in more exclusives than the 360 ( the only exclusive i really really want is NG2....and Fable 2 could be a 2nd) , but on the PS3 there is:
KZ2, (looks great for a PS shooter ) MGS4 ( not a big fan but i did played MGS 1 and 2 ), GOW3 ( system seller for me ) , GT5 ( i think its the only racer i like, since i beated GT1, GT2, GT3 ), LBP ( looks really fun, entertaining and innovative ), Warhawk, Resistance 2 ( i played Resistance 1, and it was ok, now it will get better ) FFXIII, FFVIII ( love the FF seriesso i CANT miss them out ) and more games that are multi ( AC, COD4, Burnout P, FIFAs, GTA IV, etc etc etc )
so, the thing is, im switching because i see more appealing games to me on the PS3, than in the 360...
paying 50 per year for a good service, yea its ok, but since i didnt played THAT much on live, thats burned money...few cents, but in the long run ...its something
PSN well...i havent used, but many people says its not as good as XBL...i dunno really, but being free, some cool features, the important thing is to play online.
the only thing that worries me, is if the PS3 will do better, it isnt doing good, like in games....for example... frame rate problems ( madden 08..30 FPS wth ? )...loading times higher than 360s versions ( RSV, Tony Hawks, Orange Box ...etc )
what about all this uh ???
BLUUUURAAAAGH!!!!
REEEEEDRAAAGH
But seriously I think the whole fanboy thing is weird. Why people defend a console makes no sense to me. If it has fun games then play the damn thing. I own both a Wii, and a 360, and I will buy a PS3 once more games come out. I also have an okay PC. It is good for games like FEAR, Half Life 2, STALKER. I am going to build a new PC so I can play Crysis and such.
[QUOTE="kage_53"]Its because of this[QUOTE="sext_chimp"]SO WHY DO THEY OWN A PS3 INSTEAD OF A 360!!! sexy_chimp
"2007 was the 360's year, 2008 is the PS3's year"They believe that MS will either announce their next system soon and there are a lot of games slated for PS3 for this year and next year compared to the 360 which doesn't have many games announced for this year and next year.
They clearly acknowledge that the 360 has better games RIGHT NOW, so why don't they at the very least get one right now and then sell it when the PS3 actually HAS good games.
Maybe because of shoddy hardware, not into halo at all, PS has the exclusives i want more, thankyouandgoodnight!!!.lol.
Er... I like the PS3 more cause it has more games out that I want, and more games to be released that I want. I know 360 had the better 2007, according to the gaming community, but for me personally, I'm not massively interested in its current lineup.
And if I were to say "360 is the now - PS3 is the future" (and I won't say it cause it's silly) I would mean that 360 is generally accepted to have the better games at the moment, but the fact that PS3 has good games already and very interesting games in the future, puts it above the 360 since not everyone has the time/money to purchase/play both at the same time for this gen.
If you could have afforded the $600 PS3, it seems likely you could have afforded the 360, sold it when all 08 the PS3 games come out and got a PS3 without any issues. Really, its win win, but fanboys are too stubborn. They refuse to even attempt to play games for other systems if it means going against their beloved toy. Whatever happened to gamers who played consoles for its games?lol.

I guess what bothers me is not the logic of waiting, but its the excuses some fanboys come up with to stick with their console regardless of the circumstances. If the PS3 got Gears of War, they surely wouldn't have made a fuss over how much it doesn't appeal to them, like they do in this reality. They would have played it much like they play Uncharted now. Instead of lying to themselves that Geow was graphically inferior to Resistance, they would have acknowledged its potential, and Resistance would have certainly been overshadowed by its release. If Rachet and Clank came to the 360, lemmings probably would have praised it as SMG killer and platformer of the year, and a testement to the power of the 360, and resistance would have been the 360's premiere shooter for the year, however not as hyped as drastically as it was for the Sony platform (for obvious reasons as they were going against a behemoth).
Fanboys need to learn not to get caught up in their own crap by blatantly lying to themselves that the playing field is always in their favor, and that they made the right choice, no matter what the actual situation is. I think most PS3 fanboys can agree that they knew deep down that GEOW was a better looking game than Resistance with uniquer gameplay. It won GOTY after all. And I think most 360 fans can agree that they hyped Blue Dragon too much because they were starving for some good JRPGs.

Maybe they're looking forward more to the future PS3 titles that have been announced than the 360 games that are out now and they cant afford to buy both consoles and games. That would be my guess.
Explain this foothold? Didn't Sony have a foothold in the next-gen once the PS3 came out? If foothold you mean gaining some of the next-gen market and closing the overwhelming gap, then yes, Sony has succeeded. And if by foothold you mean approaching dominance, then no, that is sincerely false.A gaming system is more than simply the sum of its games. That is the argument we've seen from 360 fans, and it completely fails to address why the Wii has outsold the Xbox 360, and indeed recently why the PS3 is starting to gain a foothold against the 360. And of course a gaming system is more than the sum of its games. There are other things to consider, for the sake of argument, business, and practicality, but if you consider yourself a gamer, it really just boils down to the library of games you want. Sometimes you can't afford a console and that's okay but justifying it by condemning all of the console's games due to this unaffordability, is not okay. Also, a rise in MS's, Sony's or Nintendo's shares, do not make my game experiences any better, and unless you are a stock owner it really shouldn't concern you beyond a resonable degree (examples include a drop in value due to hardware failures, or loss of developer support). For the most part, games and money should be the main concern imo (and hardware if it is really feeling like a problem).

As long as they provide me with something I want I will buy from them, if they don't I will drop them.
You buy something from someone because they have something you want, otherwise your just getting owned by their marketing.
I'm planning to get a PS3 sometime as well. Just adding that in to show im loyal to no one company.
because cows think MS is the devil for some reason.TheDarkDisciple
Better the devil they know than the devil they don't.
I don't think SCE are any better lol.
Add my 2 Cents, I brought a 360 1st played Halo 3 and some other games loved the console but not enough i had a gap in me that stems from the fact that i wanted to be able to play MGS4 and the Next Final Fantasy so i took the 360 back and got a PS3 with COD4 (Dont like it) and Drakes Fortune so im happy and content now :) that was my reasoning anyhow.
Oh and Sony hit gold with Drakes Fortune proving that hidden Gems still sprout from around the console.
Im looking forward to the Multitude of great RPGs and *** games that will no doubt make there way to the PS3, fond memorys of FF and Vagrant Story and other games keep this dream alive.

What a bleak outlook - there's more to buying a system than just games and money. What about services, hardware, community, the philosophy behind the platform, future potential, reliability, and comfort? If it were simply games and "true cost" then there'd be no excuse for anyone to game on anything other than a PS2, Wii, or PC.
I wouldn't minimize the importance of hardware, services, and future potential - that's a large part of what's holding the 360 back right now.

No worries... just thought that was all directed at me for some reason and it doesn't accurately describe my thoughts on PS3/360 etc...
And I do think Uncharted and Gears share a lot of similarities. While I don't think Gears deserved GOTY I did enjoy the game, especially in MP and I enjoyed Uncharted a lot as well. ND were definitely influenced by Gears. I don't think there's anything wrong with taking ideas from great games and using them to make another awesome game.

I said the main reasons were money and games. I have no problems playing older games, despite the fact that many standards have changed since they were made. There are other important features as well, and I suppose I neglected a few, but if there aren't any games you are interested in, and you just can't afford it, then you aren't going to be able to enjoy those other features and services, now are you? If there weren't any good games on the 360, the XBL service would be pretty worthless no matter what it offered. And "philosophy" of a platform means nothing. You are going to enjoy a platform for what it offers to you, not what a spokesperson tells you. Sony is marketing the PS3 as an all in one entertainment center, but I don't care about blu-ray that much honestly. My core interests are games and I supose the support of the console (because if the company doesn't support it how well do you think it is going to provide you with what you want?) The Blu-ray is something nice to have though, but I take an interest in the PS3 mainly for the games it is going to be offering, and thankfully I think Sony is starting to realize it needs to market them as well.[QUOTE="DrinkDuff"]I'm not sure why I quoted you to be honest, I think you just brought out some of my thoughts on fanboy behaviors, some exhibited by cows in particular. I guess I was going to respond to something you said specifically but my thoughts culminated into something else. A rant if you will. None of what I said is directed against you. I am sorry, its late and I can have a nasty tone for no reason, and you kind of got caught up in something that doesn't really deserved to be dumped on one person.
And you are right, I am speculating, maybe I should have made that more clear, but I have some evidence for such speculation.
Take for example Uncharted, the gunplay falls in the same 3rd person shooter vein as Gears of war with the exception of Lara Croft style platforming. Most PS3 fanboys like it. I can only assume (logically) that they would enjoy Gears to an extent as well (maybe not multiplayer, because it really was a mixed bag, but even then, the singleplayer was longer than Uncharted so they should have no trouble justifying that purchase). If you can argue how much more varied Uncharted is to Gears then maybe I can take back some of what I said.
the-very-best
No worries... just thought that was all directed at me for some reason and it doesn't accurately describe my thoughts on PS3/360 etc...
And I do think Uncharted and Gears share a lot of similarities. While I don't think Gears deserved GOTY I did enjoy the game, especially in MP and I enjoyed Uncharted a lot as well. ND were definitely influenced by Gears. I don't think there's anything wrong with taking ideas from great games and using them to make another awesome game.
oh absolutely, borrowing and improving on ideas are the closest thing to revolutionary that many games are going to get. And really the more varied the gameplay, the longer it is going to stay fresh. In addition, many mechanics can be and are improved upon and they sometimes lead to new gameplay ideas. If no one decided to copy Wolfenstein 3D or Doom, we wouldn't have an FPS genre, and it wouldn't have become so varied either. All that potential would have been wasted. Please Log In to post.
