It seems like a lot of people don't understand the role of the president is to fire people who are slacking off

He might have to fire a good friend or someone who has been at the company a long time he can't just let people get away with this

Look at infinity ward they were saying we don't have to do any more game making forever cuz modern warfare 2 sold so much

Bobby can't let these people get away with this and can't just throw money at them for sitting around

My dad was vice president and even his boss was a jerk to him and made him fire people all the time an thats how you move up in the company and it seem like he knows what hes doing the man is in charge of all of blizzard/activision and oversee's them all

You seem to be misunderstanding the concept of firing a girl because she wouldnt be some guy's "armcandy". Also there is a difference between wanting IW to do work and when you blackmail the studio to make a game and then implement the equivelent of martial law.

Of course its a CEO's job to maximize profits, thats why the shareholders put him there. That being said these are the types of remarks like, "take all the fun out of making video games" or "raise prices even further" should be left for boardrooms and conferences NOT told to the general public and completely throw your PR down the drain.

I mean ppl hate him because he forces companies to churn out the same product (guitar hero, tony hawk, COD) over and over yearly sometimes more than 1 edition a year, and that just kills off new ideas, new IPs and fails to introduce anything fresh to gaming.

They put it on consoles, which they fought Activision tooth and nail to do. They made Activision tons and tons of money. Then Activision had them make a sequel and promised them some level of control over the franchise. They made the sequel on schedule, and created a title that is the biggest entertainment launch (by revenue) ever. Then Activision backtracks on its claims of autonomy over the franchise and fires them in an ugly manner. Not only do they sue Activision over the firing, but so does half of their team, which voluntarily quit the company.

Clearly, Activision did nothing wrong.

Nah, Kotick is a punk. He knows little to nothing about gaming, and really, he's nothing but an arrogant suit.

If you want to make money then you invest in quality talent. Give them the money, time, and freedom to create unique, high quality games and stay the hell out the way.

EA has really made a drastic turnaround concerning this sort of thing. It's also up to the devs to sign contracts that give them the rights to their IPs, and control over development cycles.

i would consider agreeing with you if all of the other publishers were just as horrible.. but it turns out that SOME publishers manage to be successful while still having a great reputation

Just like Simon Cowell and the music industry churning out more manufactured crud.Him and Kotick should team up and milk an xfactor license to death both of them think alike.Altho we have managed to best Simon Cowell's dominance on the No1 spot at Christmas time with Killing in the Name (i was a part of it and i am proud of that).

If we lead by example of what some music fans did here in the UK and we apply the same theory to Activision by buying other products.But saying that i do enjoy MW2 from time to time on split screen.

I so co-sign this. It's people like Bobby Kotick that suck the fun out of an otherwise fun industry. This thread is the perfect example. We're all GAMERS but somehow this gen has people talking about money, profit margins, sales, software tie-in ratios and all this other crap that no one ever gave a flying dang about before.

Kotick is the epitome of what is wrong when you look at entertainment as an industry and let that mindset go unchecked and out of control.
