What games have you played in your time that have bored you to the point that you actually stop playing the game?

I've only had 2 games that have made me stop from total boredom:

Black (PS2/Xbox):

Mercenaries (PS2/Xbox):

Both games are good examples (especially Black) of what happens when graphics take more focus than gameplay. And both are getting sequels!

Anyway, what games did you guys find that were totally boring that forced you to stop playing completely?

Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault is the only one I can think of at the moment. The loading screens were too often and too long and just got me to the point of saying screw it. I uninstalled the game from my computer immediately after and gave away the game.

Mercs?

That game is so much fun if you have a young violent imagination like myself.

For instance, take a helicopter and pick up a car with the magnet, then swing it around and try to throw it at people or other helicopters.

Hours of fun...

:?

I'm easily amused.

You get the urge to play them, but when you actually think to yourself "Do I really want to spend my time and money on this?" you'll probably stop yourself.

MGS3. Too much dialogue. I just wanted to play but kept getting stopped every 5 minutes. Okami almost made me do that with their 15 minute opening cutscene, but as soons as I started playing things so far have been smooth.

SC DA as well. The worst SC game IMO. Got 5 levels into it and just sent it back to gamefly.

GRAW, Chromehounds, Gran Turismo 4, Tekken 5 DR on psp and Sonic 360 are some of the most boring experiences Ive had with a console. I have good reasons for saying that too.

:o Mercenaries!?

I must say, I'm surprised the-very-best. I normally totally agree with your posts, but Mercenaries was probably my favorite game last gen, and I cant wait for the sequel.

anyway, to answer the question, I would have to say MGS: PO. I don't know why, but the game just didn't hold my interest.

Well, my favourite series is GTA so it's not like I don't like violent games. It's just that Mercenaries and its gameplay felt so repetitive. It was kinda linear too which got on my nerves.

It wasn't a disastrous game. I can imagine why people would like it, just not my thing.

Really? Your favourite?

lol, I dunno, just isn't my type of game. It kinda felt like a rip off of GTA in many parts too which put me off. Then again, maybe I should have stuck with the game for a while longer. I had borrowed it from a friend and only played it for a few hours (around 4 I think) before stopping.

The two that pop into my mind

Knights of the Old Republic - Everyone told me that when I rented it, I would be gone for the next week. Well about 3 hours later I was back, the game already packed up and ready to ship back to Gamefly. The fact that I hate RPG's wasn't why I stopped playing. The beginning of the game was so mind numbingly bad, I couldn't bare to get beyond it.

Brute Force - Don't remember much, but I do remember it being terribly generic and not fun.

Grand Theft Auto and Mercs just cannot be compared. GTA wipes the floor with it. But for a rental Mercenaries is very good stuff.

Believe it or not though some people DON'T like GTA.

Disgusting I know, it will never make sense to me why a person couldn't enjoy a GTA game.

same I put 175+ Hours into Final Fantasy XII and it never turely felt like a final fantasy ... just the name slapped on ...

however one thing I liked about it, is how they made the Zodiac Stone Monsters from FFT Espers

Loved seeing them in 3D form

probably the other game would be, Dark Cloud 2 ... and I thought hack an Slash games were repetitive

FFX-2. I tried to complete two different times, more than a year apart, but I still stopped due to boredom. The game is pretty and all, but without a coherant story, it just bores tha hell out of me.

Dark Cloud 2 also, same here. Put a lot of hours into that game as well, got to the final big dungeon, I think, but the dungeons just never ended. A bit more story and less dungeon crawling would have made that game awesome. I liked the weapon customisation, nice characters and cel shaded graphics.

Wow, how can you put 70 or 175+ hours into a game you're bored with? It's like doing a chore when you're playing a game you don't like. Okami is pretty boring. I've put two hours into it, and I still can't find any fun in that game. I think the most boring game I've ever played though was that Mario detective game, "Where's Luigi?" or whatever the name was for the NES.

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life- IMO, it was nothing like Harvest Moon 64 which I consider the best in the series. In A Wonderful Life, the days just seemed to take so long to get over with, which wouldn't have been a bad thing if you actually had something to do. I quit playing it half way through, but eventually went back to beat it because for some reason I have to beat all my games.

Not a whole lot of games come into my mind, but one I know was Perfect Dark Zero. It got some great reviews and it seemed like a great game so I picked it up....very very boring. I don't know why. It was a chore to do just do every mission I kept hoping it would get more exciting as it went on but it never did. I loved the weapons, they were cool, and the cover system was a nice addition, but overall the gameplay was very lackluster....not one I would perfectly recommend, all eye candy IMO

Yeah, it seems you either love/hate the new gameplay in the series.

I really liked FFXII. I was getting sick of the old gameplay and FFX, FFX-2 were very disappointing for me due to how linear they were. The only thing I didn't really like about FFXII were the characters. Unlike previous FFs this one doesn't really focus on character development at all which was a bit annoying.

Overall the game was very fun though. Loving the new gameplay and am glad FFXIII seems to be keeping it (and by the looks of it upgrading it too).
