Their "top rating" doesn't correspond to a 10 out of 10. It corresponds to somewhere between 97% to 100%, the same as the traditional non-weighted grading scale used in American schools. They specifically adopted the A+ to F rating system to avoid fanboy hype about "ZOMG AAAAA!"

This is great news but at the same time, u are really pushing it comparing an arcade game to a full fledged game. It might get 10's but I can see why it would get 10's because its a great arcade game and its a bargain for what it has to offer. If we go on and say it is on the same level as MGS4, then I guess braid to lemmings is a better game then gears of war, or a halo 3, or mass effect, which it is not. Its a great arcade game and it is reviewed different from games that are more mass appeal. Still cant take the fact that it is getting great scores around the board.

Arcade games are not "full fledged games"? What a very disgusting statement. "It's not 3D with tons of polygons and all those sweet graphic tricks, so it's not worth my time." No wonder everyone and their mother are making pretty but shallow console FPS, you kiddies don't want variety, innovation, actual quality, etc.

Braid is not an arcade game, by the way. It's an indie game. Tekken, Ikaruga and Guilty Gear are arcade games.

i played the demo, it was OK, it had quite a few nods to mario in there *"sorry, but your princess is in another castle"* :P

i'm a bit sceptical, i have no problem paying that for Xbox originals though.

Except they can't recreate either of those experiences (unless LBP has some sort of time manipulation feature we haven't heard of).

i wasn't really all that impressed with the demo...besides the colorful graphics it was pretty much like LostWinds, minus the motion controls then adding a man in a business suit...im going to play through it again tonight though to see if my opinion changesjohnnyv2003

You really have to try more then the first level. The first level is the most boring of the bunch all you have at your disposal is a rewind button. Later you get to slow down time, create a shadow of yourself to help you get puzzle pieces. All the levels have a special mechanic attached to them, the first level is pretty much the tutorial.

I swear they are just rating it a 10 just because microsoft wants to convince everyone it is worth 15 dollars. It is a 10 once it is 10 dollars, guess what I will win against microsoft, but by the time they bring to price down, I might not care. I like the music, when I saw this game I was thinking of a good game to help me sleep at night, or just relax, but I cant relax spending 15 dollars. I spend about 7 dollars a day on food, because I am a manly manly manly manly man! type that in microsoft sam!

Super mario world is better than this, about as good looking, but way longer for sure. Plus I rather get super mario all-star for 20 dollars, you get way more variety, and three more games.

hmm ... going to play it again tonight as i played the demo real late last night so i was tired, so gave it kind of a jaded view...i'm definitely liking this puzzle/2D platforming trend though, first LostWinds and now Braid...it really is a good mix of elements

They need to go back and rate Genesis and SNES games. This game is a 2d platformer right? To get a 10, i'm assuming its better than anything in the entire Genesis and SNES catalogs since most of the classics from then didn't even get 10s despite being viewed as the best in their genre even by today's standards.

The dev's stated that they would be interested in doing a ps3 version, after the MS exclusivity deal ends.

I bought it and played through the first couple levels last night...it's a brilliant game. The puzzles are so awesomely clever I literally laughed out loud when I figured out how to get one of the hard to reach ones in the first world...you really have to think outside the box for some of them.

And the time controls get seriously insane. Wait till World 4...I've never seen anything quite like it. I can't wait to finish it, because I hear it has a great ending.

Hey if it just got a 10 from 1up I think thats proof enough that its price tag is justified. Though I do see your point, no where near as many people are gonna get the game just because people resent the 1200 point price tag so much. But still I've got it and completed it just today and it's the best puzzle platformer I've played since warioland 3 (which in my opinion was the best puzzle platformer of all time) and would definetly be a more worthy sucessor than warioland shakes gonna be.

Best platformer of the year and maybe the best puzzle platformer we'll see for quite a while.

Theres a speed run achievement, you have to complete the game in under 45 mins. But yeah your first run will take about 5-8 hours depending on how stuck you get. You are suppose to get stuck for a really long time on some parts so yeah it could last alot longer for some people.

My biggest issue is the lack of payment options on XBLM. I have 960 points in my account right now, and i quite like the look of braid. So since i only need 240 points for it, i should probably just buy a few hundred from the marketplace, right?

Except that in the UK, unless you have a Visa or a Mastercard, you cant do anything. Solo cards arent accepted, switch maestro arent accepted, and Electron is a bit iffy at the best of times. So i have to buy 2100 points from a store for the 240 i need? Not the best system in the world really, especially since the PS3 has had no problems with my card since launch.

Once this is fixed, it truly will be the best online service for me. But right now, the whole payment scheme in terms of what is accepted seems somewhat archaic and redundant.
