the wii is stronger then the ps2 it doesnt matter if games" can be done" on the ps2 thats on the wii any game can be "done on another console" it just will be downgraded which is the same as ps2 wii situation.

i personally dont care how bad the graphics is i love the way the game is coming out and i cant wait for it, and might also be the highest scoring game this generation alongside SMG series and GTA so count me in:)

[QUOTE="SHATT3R3D-GLASS"]

[QUOTE="Shinobishyguy"] All you're doing is taking graphics at face value and not considering the scope of the gameShinobishyguy

So what you are saying is, for Nintendo games not to be similar to PS2 games technically speaking, they need to be linear like corridor-shooters?

this just in, scope is apart of technical graphics. It takes power to render those worlds and areas. Thats the reason why something like Assassin's creed doesn't look as good as a linear game like uncharted.

The fact that it looks as good as it does with a wide open world is impressive given the wii's hardware. Not a single open world ps2 game approaches it.

Sure, it looks OK for a Wii game, but I'm sure Nintendo could have done it a lot better, and that SS doesn't use nearly all of Wii's technical power.

New Zelda looks good, but I do think the majority of what we see on Wii could be done on a PS2.locopatho

Sure, if they scaled it back. Look at Shattered Memories on the PS2.

silent hill on wii looks way better and it plays better to. Yeah sure ps2 can run it but wii pwns ps2.

It does look good for a Wii game (too bad the Wii isn't HD). I'm looking forward to it, definitely.

Let me guess... You have to save Zelda. And the graphics do look like PS2 quality.

i think the day/night cycle is going to be important for how well the new art direction ultimately works. a key tenet of impressionism was that everything is always changing and no moment is ever the same as the last. it would be a great visual encouragement to explore in a dynamic environment like that. what would really drive that home in a zelda game would be the ever changing light of a rising and setting sun bolstered by an art direction to highlight that change. couple that with a player controlled link and enemies that react to him and you would have a wonderful looking video game world.

Those screenshots look great! I'm thinking this might be the best looking Wii game out there.

That sounds fantastic! I'm glad they've finally got orchestrated music for Zelda.

SHATT3R3D-GLASS

And you have proof of it not maxing out the Wii? Oh right, you don't.

Could've done a lot better? It's easily the best looking game on the Wii.

Seriously guys 1) The PS2 is a godlike system just like the SNES 2) The Wii was a dissapointment, yeah the hardware sucked All this being said, there is no PS2 game that compares techincally to SS :|

[QUOTE="PernicioEnigma"]Looks terrible graphics wise.Chemical_Viking

I completely agree. Flat blocky textures out of minecraft.

The impressionism style is just an excuse to hide the bad visuals. It was done much better in Oblivion anyway.

Some of it looks bad, but come on. Exaggerration much?

Not impressed. Maybe if they do a remake (which they will almost surely do) on the Wii U.

Holy hell, why do people care so much about graphics? It's a Wii game, it looks like garbage compared to PS3/360/PC - that much is certain, established, and one basic tenet/commandment/biblical law of System Wars: the Wii is a last-gen console technically. But that hardly matters based on gameplay videos of the game: combat looks amazing, the game has a gorgeous art direction, and I believe it will be the best Zelda ever. I already have the deluxe edition on pre-order.

This is coming from a PC gamer gave up on the Wii after Super Mario Galaxy 2 and will be more than happy to make Skyward Sword the console's finale.

princeofshapeir

It's not so much the graphics as much the implication that these graphics are supposed to be impressive. If sheep didn't create threads inviting people to be impressed with the graphics in this game, it probably wouldn't happen.

Exactly! But since it's zelda, every single zelda fan exaggerates and says it looks graphically amazing when it really doesn't.

I think we can safely say that the character models do look good, but the general locations in the game are far from impressive.

People like to complain about jaggies but this game is actually pretty clean. And these wont even be so notable when the camera is actualy moving around.

And some of you really need to go hook up your Playstation 2s to your widescreen HD TVs and remember how GOW, SOTC or GTA SA really look ;)

Art may be subjective but Skyward Sword has real soft shadows projected by characters and the environment (something many HD titles dont have), really well done depth of field, blur effect and a pretty impressive shadding/lighting engine going on (see below)

http://h5.abload.de/img/theendforrealf87k.gif

Even if both systems are not worlds apart, PS2 comparisons are pretty stupid. Look at FF12, as soon as you try to pull off a huge detailed world on the PS2, its a jaggie and blurry texture hell. The texture memory on that system is so low the Dreamcast pulled off cleaner images (but lost everywhere else, obviously).

*waits for the inevitable PS2 bullshots comparisons*

Thunderdrone

Yes,though it's not far from the PS2,it can still make games look better, not by much though.

Those look so beautiful.:)

The art and artstyle are very impressive. Easily one of the prettiest looking games this generation.

A remake of the game that is specifically designed with Motion Controls behind every design choice? Keep dreaming.

They remade mario64 for a system without an analog stick.

There is a difference between making an analog styIe game and downgrading it for a non-analog system (though the analog can be used for SM64 if you have a 3DS, so it's all good there) and making a game based solely around motion controls and making that for analog controllers. You have to COMPLETELY reprogram the controls to make it work for an entirely separate control scheme. Analog may have been a new gameplay method, yes, but it wasn't that major compared to motion controls.
