Breaking: Nintendo Direct reportedly had highest peak viewers of any E3 2021 presentation

Based on data from Stream Hatchet, Nintendo saw the highest peak viewers of any presentation held during E3 2021. 3.1 million viewers tuned in for the Nintendo Direct at its biggest point. That is based on data collected from Twitch and YouTube Gaming.

Nintendo sent out warnings regarding folks streaming their Direct. That may have increased the number tuning in to their official stream. The Xbox stream was a free for all on both platforms.

That is a shitty move and a bit nonsensical.

Complete bullshit, xbox e3 conference was already 2,3 million on twitch alone.

Wouldn't be surprising. Sheep were starving for a new console, and didn't get anything. Starving for a botw2 trailer, and got a short teaser lol. Starving for any Metroid 4 info, and got a mobile looking side scroller. Starving for Bayo3, and... yea, well, keep on starving says Nintendo. So yea, i am not surprised nor should you.

As another user stated, their numbers were inflated due to restrictions they put on where you were allowed to stream their presentation. A weird move that makes no sense on the surface.

@hardwenzen: yea I couldn’t even be bothered to tune in. Saw some highlight videos and Xbox had a better showing. Halo crushed anything they had. Haven’t touched my Switch since last summer.

Wow, and Xbox put all of that effort to try to win E3. Just can't mess with Nintendo man.

Which a lot of people misread, it turned out. People streamed it and reacted anyway and no incidents have occured. Even copyright lawyers pointed this out on Twitch's feed. So if anything, Twitch and other outlets hurt themselves.

Cool. I watched Nintendo’s and Microsoft’s shows and enjoyed them both. They each had some great games that I’m very much looking forward to playing. 😎

@hardwenzen: In Nintendo's defense, they focused on games actually coming out in the near future.

Much as I loved the trailer for The Outer Worlds 2, it showed basically nothing about a game I will not be playing anytime soon.

I don't imagine Nintendo did this to bolster their stream numbers, they have always been very militant with regard to channels using any Nintendo content, requiring they participate in their revenue sharing program.

Every Tom, Dick and Harry was streaming the Direct live on YT. The warning really helped!

Well only speaking for myself but I wasn't interested in anything outside Nintendo this E3 so maybe others felt that way too.

Impossible. Dozens and dozens of youtubers were restreaming and talking over it with their own input. I watched Angryjoe and Yongyea. No way they included those

Nintendo is bigger and better than Xbox. The Nintendo fanbase is huge.

@navyguy21: These streaming numbers usually include all streams, not just a single stream. What's almost impossible is for a single stream to get over 3 million concurrent viewers.

Lems should stop making excuses and just acknowledge the reality that Nintendo won E3. There's no shame in second place.

I do think that MS won, but I can see why Nintendo won. Both did phenomenally.

As a side note, here is the number of views of each game trailer on YouTube estimated by an analyst.

@Sollet: Not sure this is a reason but Avatar, which we watched more than 10 years ago, was premiered in China this year and is said to be a huge hit, breaking the box office record.

They both had great presentations, and it's fine to have personal preferences over which was better. But my point is that Nintendo's presentation pulled the highest streaming numbers, as mentioned in OP.

Those views translate to money from YouTube. So Nintendo more than likely made a shit ton of money through viewership for this E3 conference. Nintendo is making so much money this generation. They're like Scrooge McDuck swimming in a sea of money. They're not going anywhere no time soon. They are here to stay in the console business from here to Kingdom Come. I congratulate them on all the success that they had. And I hope Nintendo will continue to be successful in the hardware business for more generations to come.

Go take a look at the thread Solid made. The Horizon Forbidden West State of Play drew more than Microsoft and Nintendo's shows combined. You kids just keep embarrassing yourself with your anti-Sony agenda.
