The touchpad is so that the controller more easily integrates with Vita controls and vice versa.  For some reason, that seems hard for some people to grasp.  Perhaps OP can tell us how delicious paint chips are.

Awwww the controller will be fine. I imagine the touch pad being way lest annoying than six axis. Six axis in some games was cool.

Just finishing up the 3rd season of Breaking bad right now, I don't know why I didn't watch this show sooner.

PS: I actually like the new PS4 controller much more than previous... it's first time I'm hyping the PS controller.

The vita has the same touch pad thing and looked how that turned out so we'll see.gago-gago

lol and "how it turned out"? I haven't seen many complaining... and it's actually a feature that if devs want they can avoid implementing in their games. It's not like somebody is forcing them to use it.

Besides the Vita rear touchpad is different story to the PS4's controller... I dunno what you people say but I see DualShock 4 as a BIG improvment for SONY.
They fixed analogue sticks, they fixed L,R triggers they slightly fixed the size and shape of the controller and looks like it fits in hands much better.
The only thing I ever liked about 360 is its controller... well, this next gen... I think SONY did quite a good job.

I cna't imagine it will be much more than the current iteration. They'll just get less of a profit margin. Regardless, those things are durable. I've only now bought a new DS3 after nearly four years of use. I'd imagine all other controllers to be about the same in terms of reliability.
