No. I get it, it's some cool fad to dislike Jack Black, but dear god, if a voice annoys anyone that much, then maybe there's deeper issues here than a game, I think.
I'm not a big Jack Black fan, but I don't hate the guy that much. He fits Eddie Riggs character quite well. But hey, the reviews will come out and be fantastic, and then all them Jack Black haters will have to bury a hole and miss out, I guess. The rest of us will be enjoying a masterpiece. Rob Halford, Lemmy Kilmister, Tim Schafer, a heavy metal open world with an environment inspired by heavy metal album covers, cool ass vehicles, 100's of metal tunes, etc = frickin' win!

On the contrary, I think it's cool to like Jack Black since he has this "bad boy of rock" image. For a guy whose actual comedic offerings tend to be pretty meh compared to the more dedicated comedians, he's a guy who's really made his stake in film based on image, being a member of Tenacious-D and starring in School of Rock. This Jack-Black Love affair reminds me of the rap fans who used to argue that L.L. Cool Jay was really quite a good actor based on his performances in Any Given Sunday and Deep Blue Sea. I also don't hate the guy (actually quite curious to see Year One), but I do find the Jack Black hype as anything but a musician to be blown *way* out of proportion for a guy who has so few standout contributions to much anything since School of Rock. I look at crap like Shallow Hal and that sorry excuse for an acting job in King Kong and I really see a reputation established more on a bad-boy-of-rock image than on actual quality offerings. Not to say he's terrible, but he ain't that great in most of the things he does. Oh, and also, Brutal Legends could be very good - I really don't know, and I wouldn't be qualified to say, since it's not a type of game I'm really at all interested in.From what I've studied as a Br00tal Legend stalker, I've noticed that it's actually "cool" and a new "trend" to rip Jack Black apart. Sure, his roles are nearly identical. We all now his gig in his movies and with Tenacious D, but that's kinda why he fits the character. Anyone who has played a Tim Schafer game is not expecting something deep and moving, but an hilarious and well written adventure. He's got a cast that can deliver that. I'm not saying Jack Black is hilarious, but with such fine talent writing the script, I don't have any concerns whatsoever.
My problem with Jack Black, and with alot of actors, is that he doesn't seem able, or willing, to do anything other than the 'bad boy of rock' immage.
Michael Cera is another example, can he play anything other than the awkward teenager? I just don't enjoy seeing actors play the same roles over and over (unless its a sequel of course) that's why Jack Black is a real turn off for me when it comes to this game.
