I think it's safe to say that the majority of the people buying ODST, a SPIN OFF of the main Halo series, would be the most diehard Halo fans. Sure there will be others getting it, but the majority of them will be big Halo fans, fans who would have already bought all the map packs and stuff. So why did Bungie think it was a good idea to include all the maps and stuff in the game, the target audience already has them. A new single player + one new multi player mode is hardly worth the asking price, for those guys anyway. Personally I think that overall the game is good value.
I bet Microsoft put Bungie up to it in order to have something to sell in Q4 2009, we all know that Microsoft never hesitate to rush things if it means extra profit, screw the loyal customer!

1.) Your title should read "Bungie sure is stupid..."
2.) They included all of Halo 3's multiplayer because they wanted to free up space on people's hard drives and get all the map packs onto a disc. Plus this would be a great way to get new comers in as well as the older Halo 3 crowd. They didn't want to rework the multiplayer because they are introducing a new multiplayer component with Halo: Reach.
3.) The main draw here is the single player campaign and the new Fire Fight mode, both of which are rather good.
4.) You also forget that they included a brand new map pack that I still believe isn't out on Xbox Live yet for Halo 3 owners.
5.) How can they be stupid if the game scored well, was recieved well, sold well, and most importantly brought them a profit?
Halo 3: ODST was the first Halo game I was truly interested in since Master Chief didn't really appeal to me. I bought Halo 3 for the multiplayer but could have cared less beyond that. ODST I'm actually enjoying the single player mode, fire fight is an absolute blast, and having Halo 3's multiplayer component tossed in is just a nice bonus since it freed up about 2 gigs on my hard drive.
Also aren't you a few months late on attempting to make a point on this? This is like the guy I saw earlier complaining because Gamespot gave Gears of War Game of the Year in 2006 over Twilight Princess. Did I stumble into a time warp today or something?
